Chereads / My Life with a Clone / Chapter 8 - (008) Homero

Chapter 8 - (008) Homero

'That's more than enough for today' I said, stretching as I left my laptop to use the bathroom.

I've started the other three stories and today I've written four chapters for each.

Of course, even before that I wrote down the basic idea and briefly did the world-building, so it turns out that I'm not following an aimless path, for most of them I already have a result in mind that I want to achieve.

The stories have totally different themes and I decided to do this to test how it will work to make each type of world, in the end it will end up being good writing practice.

I decided to write other stories to open up my range of possibilities and improve my skills, but obviously I want to bear fruit from this work.

All the works have Odyssey in the title, I decided to make it a 'trademark', obviously other people use it in their works, but I think I can make it my own.

---------------------------------------------------------

A Conqueror's Odyssey

Futuristic, Adventure, Survival, Cold/Calculated, Harem

Try as he might, Alex Heis could hardly get ahead in life.

Born on a planet known as a meeting place for criminals, on the street it was unusual not to see armed people and bodies in alleyways.

It's hard not to have that vision when the galaxy is at war. The reason? Simple: the rich want to get richer.

The biggest empires: Yorn, Noxus, Eva and Liko have been fighting a war for almost a decade. To make matters worse, criminal and 'noble' organizations are using this situation to enslave planets and make slaves.

Alex, born into this war and this precarious situation, gives up on his morals and ethics.

In the end, to hunt monsters you have to become one.

But he doesn't want to become just another monster.

"I want to be a Conqueror"

---------------------------------------------------------

The futuristic plot is not something I like very much, so I decided to write this story to get out of my comfort zone.

Have I planned how the story will develop and how it will turn out? Yes, but it's not something I'm doing because I like it, it's something I'm doing to improve myself.

And since I was going to do something I don't like, why not continue to the end and make a cold, calculating protagonist who has a harem as well? It's not that I don't like this type of character, but it often ends up lacking depth and character development.

Either he ends up falling for his women too easily - which doesn't make sense considering he's someone cold - or he doesn't feel any emotion for them - which is even worse.

I hope to do something decent with this character and make him at least have real, deep feelings for his lovers.

---------------------------------------------------------

An Emperor's Odyssey

Fantasy, Adventure, Survival, Kingdom Building, Non-Human, Harem

Who would have thought that after falling asleep Arthur Heis would wake up in another world?

One day just another ordinary orphan working hard for his survival, the next he and everyone else in the world become lord of their own territory.

Having unlocked a new race and rare talent, his start was better than many others.

But is that enough to stand out in this world?

In other words, to survive.

---------------------------------------------------------

Stories about building kingdoms and lordships in your own territory have always appealed to me, but it's clearly noticeable how difficult it is to create stories of this kind. I'm not talking about something simple with video game logic, but something realistic, and reality isn't just about building a farm that generates X number of resources every X days.

But rather: choosing the best crop for each season, choosing the best cultivation strategy, building protection against wild animals, killing pests and taking care of the farm, measures against drought and other natural disasters, harvesting the crop, suitable storage and so on.

In the end, when you stop to think about this kind of story, you realize that it really is a very long list of details to worry about, and although there are stories like this, there are few.

What's more, those that have great potential often end up giving up or being stopped for their own reasons. After all, not everyone writes for a living and everyone has their own priorities.

In general, I hope to produce a work that, like A Survivor's Odyssey, will not only please readers, but will also please me.

---------------------------------------------------------

A Gamer's Odyssey

Fantasy, Adventure, System, Hárem, Slice of Life.

André Heis is just another normal teenager like the others, he has a stable financial situation, an ordinary appearance, parents who love him, a younger brother who he keeps bothering and so on.

Nothing unusual in his life, he didn't see a problem and was actually fine with it... or was supposed to be.

But why does this feeling of emptiness, of something missing, always come over him when everything is fine and there's nothing wrong?

Well, he found out what was missing until it appeared in front of his eyes.

That translucent, blue screen, as if it were an invitation to be someone special, someone different, to have exciting, epic adventures... at least that's what it was supposed to be.

But why is it that only he has changed and the world remains the same?

---------------------------------------------------------

In the end I decided to make a Slice of Life with a system to improve my conversation writing skills.

Of course that's not all, by chapters 100/200 I plan to make the world appear portals and all that. I decided to do this just so the story wouldn't get so boring, but until then it'll just be another harem Slice of Life.

The stories that I think will work best are 'An Emperor's Odyssey' and 'A Conqueror's Odyssey', which is why I decided to name the protagonist after the title.

It's not that 'A Gambler's Odyssey' won't work, it's just that the others are more exciting than this one. I think there will be hype up until chapter 100/150, but if I didn't do what I'm planning to do, the story would start to die down around here. That's the problem with Slice of Life, you always have to bring something new to attract the reader's attention.

The name Alex came from Alexander the Great, a great conqueror and one of the greatest that ever lived.

Arthur came from King Arthur, known as a legendary king - although his existence has not been proven.

André simply came from Andersson Silva, a great Brazilian fighter, famous for being known as 'Spider'. I plan to have the protagonist make a living as an MMA fighter, so as to add at least a little more excitement to the story.

Unlike 'A Survivor's Odyssey', which I only started posting today after having accumulated 20 chapters, I've already decided to start posting what I have so far of these other stories.

I've scheduled each story to post the 4 chapters I've done today at noon tomorrow, and I've also scheduled the 4 chapters of 'A Survivor's Odyssey'.

By the way, I forgot a big problem.

'The cover of my stories' I thought looking at my screen where the cover of the stories had the basic slogan of the site, where there is only the name of the work written and the name of the author underneath.

Well, not that it's a big problem, tomorrow I'll do it easily.

Even though I'm not a great artist, I can at least make a temporary cover for my works until I can afford to buy the artwork from a professional.

"It's late, let's go to sleep," said Alfa, turning off his computer and getting ready for bed.

"Right, right," I replied.

We quickly went to bed and turned off the lights. Sleep came over me quickly and drowsiness attacked me.

'Homer must be rolling in his grave after I stole his name and forgot his cape'

With that last thought, I feel myself sinking into dreamland.
