"Vic? Are you okay?" Danny pushed him slightly and whispered, "Why do you look like you've lost your soul after visiting the queen consort's courtyard?" Vic ignored him and happily told Rory, "Your Majesty, you won't believe it. The queen consort was so kind today. She even thanked me. When I was leaving, she politely saw me off. I've never been treated like this before!"
Rory frowned. He had already noticed Bailey's change but subconsciously tried to ignore it.
Moreover, hearing Vic's words made him inexplicably uncomfortable.
"How was she kind? Today, she stormed into the kitchen and nearly chopped off Lyla's head with a kitchen knife."
"Impressive! Lyla had it coming. I've never liked her." Rory glared at him, and Vic immediately stopped laughing.
"And I made an unexpected discovery. The queen consort knows medicine!
When that maid was poisoned, and on the brink of death, the queen consort easily controlled the toxicity with herbs. Even I couldn't have reacted that quickly. It's truly eye-opening."
"What?" Rory suddenly recalled the previous incidents. He recalled Princess Aimee's maid's cause of death, the way of treating Grant's wound, and curing Meghan's poisoning. At this point, Rory became even more puzzled.
Though he didn't like Bailey, he thought he knew her well enough. But he didn't realize she had medical skills...
"The queen consort even wanted me to be her teacher and learn medicine from me! She called me teacher."
Rory remained unfazed and said, "In that case, you should take good care of her and ensure she doesn't cause any more trouble! People's true nature is hard to change. I wonder if the Noel family has influenced her sonmehow."
Whenever the Noel family was mentioned, he felt a burning anger inside.
He instructed Danny, "Make sure to assign undercover guards to watch the queen consort. Report any unusual activity to me."
Someone from a restaurant outside had replaced the butler. He was efficient, smooth, and hired explicitly for the job.
The new butler seemed observant and had good judgment. On his first day, he brought two maids to the queen consort. He respectfully introduced himself, "Your Highness, my name is Jay Baker, the new butler of this mansion. Shall you have any orders, you may summon me."
"These two are maids prepared by the king for the queen consort. Kelsey and Chloe greet the queen consort."
The two maids bowed respectfully. Bailey glanced at them but didn't immediately agree to keep them.
"What have you two done before?"
Chloe respectfully replied, "I served at
Lord Wilson's residence, who owned
Revelation Temple. After his home was raided, all the servants were let go.. Bailey knowingly asked, "What happened to the owner of Revelation Temple?"
The disgraceful affairs of the Wilson
family had likely spread throughout the country, and as a servant, Chloe would undoubtedly be aware of the reasons behind it.
Chloe looked hesitant and troubled for a long time before answering, "I don't know, Your Highness."
This answer showed Chloe's integrity, making her worth keeping. Bailey turned to Kelsey and asked, "And you?"
Kelsey seemed a bit nervous and didn't dare to raise her head. "I have never served anywhere before. This is my first time working in a mansion. I am willing to endure any hardship and do any work. I only hope that you will iet me stay, Your Highness."
"Tell me why you sold yourself."

"My father is in poor health and needs money for treatment."
Bailey's expression changed. "If your father is unwell, why aren't you taking care of him? How old are your siblings? What illness does your father have, and what are the symptoms? Tell me everything."
Kelsey didn't expect the queen consort to ask such detailed questions. She felt somewhat guilty and answered, "I have two younger brothers, one is five years old, and the other is twelve. My father had a stroke and can't move half of his body. He can't even eat."
Bailey couldn't help but doubt as she caught Bailey's evasive glance, which flickered with uncertainty.
With their current household situation, if she were to step foot inside the mansion and serve, chaos would surely ensue, turning their home into a boiling pot of disorder.
Observing the queen consort's frown, Jay curiously inquired, "Are you dissatisfied, Your Highness?
"Chloe may stay, but as for Kelsey..." Noel deliberately paused, her voice tinged with a peculiar fear that sent shivers down her spine as she kneeled before them.
"I shall personally pay a visit to her house."
Kelsey's residence was a tiny and dilapidated structure, barely capable of accommodating their family members. Once Bailey stepped inside, the limited space left her no room to stand.
Upon the decrepit bed lay an elderly man, continuously drooling, his gaze vacant, a testament to the enduring strokes he had suffered.
Bailey's voice softened, tinged with concern, as she inquired, "Has your father sought medical assistance, dear?" Kelsey's father was indeed afflicted by illness; her words were not mere fabrications designed to deceive. The gentle tone in Bailey's voice seemed to verify this truth.
"A physician was previously consulted, who prescribed medicines. However, despite the efforts, my father's condition persists, with no improvement. Our neighbors have already begun speculating, suggesting that my father encountered some evil entity, prompting them to advise seeking the assistance of a spiritual healer."
Amusement danced within Bailey's
eyes, unable to contain her laughter at the common folks' ignorance.
"Have you summoned the spiritual healer then?"
"No, the sage has expressed his overwhelming commitments, only freeing himself from them on the morrow."
"What your father face is an ailment. It would be wise to decline the spiritual healer's offer promptly. Otherwise, your resources will be squandered. Unless your father receives timely medical treatment, even a hundred rituals shall yield no benefit."
With these words, Bailey gently squatted down, her hand pressed against the old man's wrist, assessing his pulse while her eyes studied his labored breaths.
"There is still hope for his recovery. As long as you diligently follow my guidance, he shall regain mobility within a few days."
Kelsey stared at her in disbelief, her gaze fixated, as Bailey retrieved a piece of parchment, preparing to inscribe a prescription for her.
"An oral remedy, accompanied by my personal healing touch."
"I... How can I dare to trouble you with my father's treatment?"
"Do you not desire to save your father's life? Why, then, do you hesitate?"
"I do!" Kelsey finally mustered the courage to respond, her voice unwavering.
Bailey had already arranged a box filled with medicinal herbs. "Saving a life takes precedence. Refrain from refusing any further, for time is of the essence."
Clutching the prescription tightly, Kelsey hastened away to gather the required medicine.
Chloe swiftly stepped forward, interjecting with concern, "Your Majesty, this course of action may not be suitable!"
"Merely exposing a few points, in my
eyes, he is but an ailing patient, not a stranger." With conviction, Bailey gently inserted the silver needles into specific acupoints, skillfully expelling the chill that had infiltrated his body. Giving instructions, she added, "Please light a candle and remind me to remove the needles when it burns out completely."
When Kelsey returned, her eyes widened in astonishment at the syringe needles adorning her father's body. She could scarcely believe that the queen consort had graced their humble home and offered aid in her father's time of need.
Moreover, yet, Bailey had not accepted any consultation fee!
Kelsey's emotions swirled within her, a mix of gratitude, disbelief, and relief. As she served the freshly brewed medicine, she marveled at her father's newfound ability to converse once more.
