Effie's POV:
I stood at the top of the building looking down at the busy city. The night gave it its exquisite look. My strange powers heighten my sense of hearing, making me hear hundreds of sounds at once, from the horns of traffic to the buzzing of telephone to the little chirping of crickets
Since my night of transition, things have changed a lot.
I was delusional thinking Conan was going to accept the new me but he turned out to be just like everyone else, maybe even worse.
Was I devastated? Yes, I was.
Was I heartbroken? Yes, I was.
He made it clear to me that he couldn't date me any longer since I had turned out to be a hideous creature. He made me look like I was a scamp.
Conan was one of the nicest guys I had met in my life, I fell deeply in love with him, and that's why his rejection hurts me the most. I could easily take the rejection of my family but having it from him was a lot more painful.
I'm still trying to gather all that happened the day I turned. My vision was blurred. All I could remember was myself in an isolated place, on a hospital bed with my hands cuffed to the bed. The doctors looked at me like I was some hideous monster.
The pain I felt was excruciating, my body was covered in bandages, I was told I had torn my own skin. I didn't even know it was possible.
Here I am. Still standing at the top of the building. No luggage. Just me, dressed in my wretched black gown. Oh, yeah. I didn't mention the voice I kept hearing in my head, it feels like it's still me but in an inferior way. It has been my companion since I became a werewolf. It's weird though but it even talks to me, I was scared at first but I got used to it.
I call her Little Effie. Stupid, right? Yeah, I know.
I'm out here, about to start my journey to nowhere. Being an itinerant wouldn't be a bad idea at this point
I wouldn't want to live with humans. I'm a freaking monster now. I might just settle in the wilderness, where I can be free to be myself.
I heaved a sigh as I began traipsing. My wolf, little Effie, itches to emerge as it had been long since she did. My first turn.
It would be easier for me if she did as it would enhance my speed to the forest, where I plan to seek harbor.
After a long hike to the forest, my Wolf took her form and howled loudly, I watched as birds fled from the trees within us. I hadn't had time to admire my Wolf until now.
My Wolf is white as snow, her fur, the fur on her neck is a little longer than the one on her body. Her strut is confident as she moves in all glory.
I relaxed my mind as my Wolf began running through the forest to find shelter. Her movements are fluid and without apparent effort, it was like her limbs were made of the finest machines. Somehow, I feel good being a werewolf. This beautiful werewolf to be precise.
Running through trees and jumping over dead logs of wood. My Wolf came to rest. Sniffing the ground for God knows what. I had asked her what she was searching for but I got no reply. She kept on sniffing till she got to a lake. On seeing the lake, I hadn't realised I was that thirsty. Swiftly I got to the lake and began to drink as much water as I could get.
I turned around as I heard a quick whoosh in the bushes. My senses heightened. I couldn't really explain the scent but I liked it. In split seconds the scent washed off, all I could feel now was hunger. My Wolf had already started sniffing to find food.
I wasn't too surprised when she skillfully hunted an antelope down. It's my first time eating fresh meat but I wasn't irked.
It wasn't long before I perceived that scent again. I raised my white head from the venison I was eating. I heard a quick whoosh from the overgrown shrubs. I stood alert, ready for defence. I didn't know what I was up against but I think with these few abilities I have gotten as a werewolf, I would be able to defend myself.
For some strange reason, I could sense it was something bigger than I could defeat and for that, I felt fear. Fear of being killed by the strange unknown force.
I had to give myself some quick pep talk. My wolf growled as it faced where the scent and my paws were out and ready for defence.
The moon cast its light on the huge trees and shrubs. The moonlight helps me notice the sleek movements of what looks like wolves. Their size made it quite difficult to hide themselves.
It seemed like they didn't know I'd seen them, though I hadn't seen them clearly, but the moonlight had cast its light on them, making their foggy figures quite visible.
I know for sure they were werewolves. My new…. Clan.
But how were they able to get here?
A werewolf? In the human forest?
I sighed "Absurd things."
