Brook Steakhouse, Chou Ping didn't wait long at the entrance when Kailin got out of a taxi.
Today, Kailin was dressed in a professional suit, with a well-proportioned figure, and a pair of black-framed glasses added a unique charm to her, making Chou Ping secretly admire.
"Sorry, Chou, for keeping you waiting," Kailin walked up quickly and apologized.
Chou Ping waved his hand, "No problem, I just arrived too. Kailin, you look beautiful today."
Kailin, with a hint of playfulness, said, "So you're saying I wasn't beautiful the day before yesterday?"
"Oh, no, no, no, you were beautiful the day before yesterday too, just even more beautiful today."
After chatting for a while, they entered the restaurant. Chou Ping let Kailin order first, but she only asked for a steak and a cup of coffee.
"Is this all you're going to eat? You won't have the energy to work if you don't eat enough!" Chou Ping made a playful remark, making Kailin blush.
Later, Chou Ping, without hesitation, took the menu and ordered a variety of dishes according to his preferences.
"Chou, I don't think we need to order so much. The two of us can't possibly finish all this; it's too wasteful," Kailin advised.
"It won't be wasted; we'll definitely finish it. Trust me."
Chou Ping's smile carried a hint of helplessness. It had been like this for several days; he could control himself when not eating, but once he started, he couldn't stop. His stomach seemed like a bottomless pit.
As the steak and pasta were served one by one, Chou Ping and Kailin chatted while eating.
With a beauty in front of him, Chou Ping deliberately slowed down his eating pace to avoid startling her.
"By the way, Kailin, how is your investment plan going?"
"It's going fine. I've chosen some relatively conservative investment options. Although the profits aren't high, they are safe and reliable. Moreover, you can withdraw the funds anytime you need them."
Conservative, huh? I'm not so sure about that.
Chou Ping blinked. In reality, Kailin had invested the money in the stock market and lost the entire 500,000 in just one morning.
Did she ever think about investing this money in the stock market?
Kailin smiled lightly, "Chou, the stock market is too unpredictable. Although the returns are fast, you can easily get trapped. So, I don't plan to invest in the stock market. I also advise you to be cautious if you consider stock market investments."
Well, since Kailin said that, it's almost certain she was deceived.
This conclusion made Chou Ping feel extremely angry. That damn guy had driven Kailin to despair, almost to the point of suicide. Yet, he remained completely unaffected. The news only mentioned that Kailin had embezzled the money.
If his time couldn't be reset, Kailin might have ended up dead, carrying the blame, especially in the investment industry, embezzling clients' funds was considered disgraceful.
And that jerk could continue to enjoy his freedom, probably not affected at all by this incident.
Chou Ping narrowed his eyes and calmly said, "Well, I was just asking casually. Actually, I'm not a big fan of stock trading. Even if it seems profitable, I don't think it's suitable."
As they chatted and ate, Kailin didn't finish even a piece of steak, putting down her utensils.
Chou Ping, on the other hand, slightly increased his pace. The food in front of him was quickly devoured. Kailin, sitting across from him, looked a bit surprised.
"Oh my, Chou, I'm really curious how your stomach works. You can eat so much!"
Chou Ping spread his hands, "I'm helpless too. I can always eat if I want to."
"I envy you for being able to eat so much without gaining weight. You don't know, in my first semester of college, I reached 120 pounds because I didn't control my diet!"
"That's not called being fat; it's called being plump. Plump girls are sexy; no one likes skinny ones!" Chou Ping gestured toward her well-endowed figure, then accelerated his pace again, swiftly finishing the food on the table.
Seeing this, Kailin couldn't help but tease, "Chou, I think you should go to a buffet; it would be more cost-effective."
Chou Ping shook his head, "Occasionally is fine, but if I eat there frequently, I'll probably be blacklisted by those buffet restaurants."
Kailin laughed charmingly, "Chou, I really enjoy chatting with you. It's hard to imagine how I could forget you back then."
"Maybe I was a bit quiet back then. Let's consider this a new acquaintance; there's no need to bring up the past."
Chou Ping didn't want to continue this topic. His identity as Kailin's high school classmate was just a cover. Delving too deep into it might expose him.
Just then, a loud coughing sound came from nearby.
Chou Ping looked over, seeing a middle-aged man in distress, his face turning red as he coughed intensely, holding his neck with his left hand.
This poor guy had a bone stuck in his windpipe. This incident not only led to his death but also entangled the restaurant owner in massive compensation, eventually forcing the restaurant to close and change ownership.
"Kailin, looks like that person is in trouble. I think we should help him." Chou Ping pointed over after finishing his meal, indicating the situation.
"Chou, your good luck must be due to your kindness." Kailin nodded.
At this moment, the fat woman, Sana, was anxiously looking at her husband. He had suddenly put down his fork, claiming that a bone was stuck.
She didn't pay much attention, thinking that drinking some water would quickly resolve the issue. However, several minutes had passed, and his coughing became more severe. His face turned alarming, yet there was no sign of swallowing or spitting out the bone.
Now, a young Asian man came up behind her husband, lifting him up from the chair.
Sana's face changed drastically. She exclaimed, "What are you doing, Shett! Hurry up and let go of my husband!"
The middle-aged man was also confused. He was already feeling uncomfortable, and now he was suddenly lifted by someone.
Behind Chou Ping, Kailin was also stunned. Weren't they supposed to help him? But was this helping too straightforward?
Ignoring Sana's shouts, Chou Ping, with the man in his arms, slapped his back directly.
Ah!
The middle-aged man screamed, spitting out a small bone that landed on Sana's face.
Chou Ping grinned; luck was on his side. He successfully used the Heimlich maneuver for the first time.
"You bastard, what are you doing!" Sana stood up abruptly, angrily shouting.
If Chou Ping couldn't provide a reasonable explanation, Sana felt she might rush over and tear him apart.
"Shut up, Sana. You should learn to respect. This gentleman saved me!" The middle-aged man, who had recovered, took a deep breath. Though his throat still felt a bit uncomfortable, it was much better than before, and the coughing had stopped.
"Friend, thank you so much. If it weren't for you, I felt like I was about to die!"
