Chapter 46 - Jerry—the vicious dog

Relieved, Chou Ping immediately instructed, "OK, Kailin, listen to me. Sell all the stocks now; we've made enough profit."

Kailin, on the other end of the phone, hesitated, "Why, Chou? The momentum is so good right now. Why should we sell?"

"I can't explain it clearly, but just trust me. You said my predictions are accurate, right?"

"Alright, I'll sell them now. We'll talk later!"

As the call ended, Chou Ping nodded thoughtfully. The reason for advising Kailin to sell the stocks was his awareness of a piece of news he had come across earlier.

Three hours after *** announced economic sanctions, China announced a countermeasure plan. Chou Ping wasn't an economic expert, and he didn't know the impact of this countermeasure on the economy. However, common sense told him that when two top nations clash, the economy is bound to experience significant fluctuations.

In the absence of a clear understanding of the intricate relationship between the two nations, the safest option was to withdraw money from the stock market to eliminate any risk.

While Kailin was joyfully catching her breath, in another office, Jerry stared at his computer screen with a deadened look. In just a few hours, his two hundred thousand funds had evaporated in the vast sea of the stock market without generating any profit.

Now, he felt a sense of desperation. These funds were misappropriated from several clients. If he couldn't patch this hole in time and the clients found out, he would not only face heavy debts but also the threat of legal consequences.

In his state of despair, a face suddenly flashed in Jerry's mind—the face of the yellow-skinned guy he despised. It was this guy who had prevented him from deceiving Kailin and obtaining that five hundred thousand yesterday. Otherwise, he wouldn't have risked using his clients' funds in the stock market.

Damn it, this jerk ruined everything!

At the same time, regret surged within Jerry. If he had listened to the nonsense of that yellow-skinned guy yesterday and invested these funds in the recommended stocks, he might have already earned profits surpassing the initial capital.

Wait a minute! Jerry's eyes brightened. He thought of a way to save himself. He remembered that the yellow-skinned guy had invested four hundred thousand in those stocks and likely made significant profits by now.

As long as he could persuade Kailin to lend him twenty thousand, he could fix the loophole in his clients' funds. Jerry, like a drowning man suddenly grabbing a lifeline, rushed to Kailin.

"Kailin!"

Startled by the sudden call, Kailin turned around, only to see Jerry with bloodshot eyes staring at her like a vicious dog. She couldn't help but shiver.

"Jerry, what's wrong?"

"Kailin, can... can you lend me twenty thousand? I'm in urgent need!"

What a joke! Kailin looked surprised. Jerry, her senior colleague and superior in the financial industry, with higher achievements and a higher salary than her, was actually asking her for money?

"Sorry, Jerry, I don't think I have twenty thousand to lend you."

"You do! You must have it! I've been following those stocks you bought for that Chinese guy yesterday. They should have earned you a good profit. Please, come up with twenty thousand for me; it's an emergency. I beg you!"

"Sorry, this money belongs to Chou. I can't decide on my own."

"Alright, contact that Chinese guy right away. I'll talk to him. I believe he won't just watch me die!"

Kailin instinctively moved back. Jerry's current appearance was genuinely frightening.

On the other side, Chou Ping sat idle at his desk. Since the company was considering shifting its market focus and there was not much work to do, the whole department was relatively free.

A few colleagues, who had a good relationship with him, chatted and joked together. Although these people didn't know Chou Ping had been promoted, his keen insight had already earned him some respect.

Of course, Chou Ping wasn't the type to become arrogant after gaining some power. He chatted and laughed with his colleagues, getting along well.

At this moment, a weasel-faced guy stuck his head into the office.

The office echoed with a few contemptuous whistles when they saw him. A bearded man joked, "Russ, what does this rat want? If he's not nice to you, just tell me, and I'll beat him up for you!"

"Sorry, I'm looking for Chou!"

People in the office were all surprised. They wondered what connection Russ had with Chou Ping.

"Chou? What does Russ want with you? If he's rude, just tell me, and I'll beat him up!" the bearded guy signaled with his fist.

"Thanks for your kindness, but I think he won't cause trouble by himself."

With that, Chou Ping walked out of the office, and the two of them tacitly headed to the corridor.

In the corridor without anyone else around, Chou Ping calmly asked, "Russ, are you sure you didn't see it wrong?"

Russ quickly nodded, "No mistake, absolutely. They left not long ago. Ram dragged Anderson out forcibly!"

Chou Ping nodded, took out his wallet, and handed Russ two hundred dollars, saying, "Very well. Here is your reward!"

Russ hurriedly nodded and bowed to receive the money, "Thank you, thank you! Whatever you need in the future, just tell me!"

After leaving the corridor, Chou Ping arrived at the elevator. He recalled Russ's words. Anderson had been dragged away forcibly by Ram. Last time, Anderson had warned him mysteriously before running away. At that time, Chou Ping sensed that something was off.

Now, he realized that Anderson must have been punished before he did.

The elevator arrived quickly. Chou Ping got off and walked out of the building. Looking up, he saw that the camera was indeed blocked by a balloon.

Did the security department of the building fall asleep? How could they not notice that the camera was blocked, and it had been like this for hours? Last time he left after work, the balloon was still there.

Chou Ping's gaze swept around. There was a cart nearby loaded with bricks. He picked up a brick, tossed it in his hand, and found it quite handy. Then he walked into the alley.

Chou Ping was not wrong. Anderson was indeed in the alley at the moment. Besides him, there were several white colleagues, including Ram.

As Chou Ping entered, he heard a crisp slap, followed by Ram's malicious curses, filled with foul language.
