As soon as they arrived at the company, Tang Chen could not help but look around the place.
It was not the first time for Tang Chen to visit this place. However, the little boy would still think that his mother's company was an amazing place.
The moment they entered the building, there would be people greeting his mother and looking at her with respect.
The scene in front of him made Tang Chen feel that his mother was quite powerful.
"Chen Chen, you should sit here and wait for me, alright? Mommy will go to a meeting now," Tang Shi Yi spoke as she placed her son on the sofa. "If there's anything you need, you can find Mommy in the room next door, understand?"
"Mommy, I know." Tang Chen nodded. "You don't have to worry about me. I brought my books with me." The little boy took off his small backpack. "You should concentrate on your work."
A faint smile appeared on Tang Shi Yi's face. She stretched her hand and patted the boy's head. "My Chen Chen is very good." She could not help but lean over and kiss the little boy's cheek.
Knock! Knock!
The knocking on the door made the mother and son look up.
Tang Shi Yi smiled when she saw Quan Lian standing at the door, looking at them.
"Sorry, I did not mean to interrupt." Quan Lian coughed. He shifted his gaze to Tang Chen and smiled. "Hello, Tang Chen. It has been a while since we saw each other, right?"
The little boy nodded politely. "Hello, Uncle."
Quan Lian heaved a faint sigh when he saw the look on Tang Chen's face. The little boy was still keeping his guard against him.
It was not difficult for Quan Lian to find out that Tang Chen did not like seeing him being close to his mother. Quan Lian thought that this little boy was quite possessive.
"I'm sorry, Tang Chen. I know that your mother is supposed to accompany you on the weekend. However, there is an important case and we are going to need your mother's help," Quan Lian said.
Tang Chen nodded. "It's alright." He looked at his mother again and his admiration towards his mother heightened to another level.
His mother was amazing. There were a lot of people who were relying on her.
This was what Uncle Yin had told him the other day when he was wondering why his mother was always busy with her work at the office.
"Later, to make it up to you, I will treat you and your mother to dinner, alright?" Quan Lian said. "What do you want to eat? Just tell me."
Tang Chen pursed his lips.
He did not need Quan Lian to treat him to a meal.
It would be enough for him to have a meal with just his mother.
Tang Shi Yi leaned over to kiss her son on the head again. "I won't take long, I hope. Later, I will ask someone to bring you some snacks."
The little boy nodded. "Then, Mommy, you should go now and come back quickly."
After exchanging a few more words, Tang Shi Yi left the office, leaving her son alone in the room.
Tang Chen inhaled a deep breath. Then, he took out the books from his bag and started to read.
A while later, someone knocked on the door again.
Tang Chen raised his head and saw his mother's assistant walking into the room carrying a tray of snacks and drinks for him. He thanked the assistant and watched the woman leave.
The room was once again quiet.
The only sound that Tang Chen could hear was the whirring from the air conditioner as well as the sound of him flipping the pages of his book.
He did not know how much time had passed but Tang Chen started to feel a bit tired after reading his book for a long time.
The little boy put his book at the side. He saw the plate of snacks that his mother's assistant sent to him earlier and took a piece of the cookies.
He raised his head and looked around.
It was not the first time that Tang Chen had visited his mother's office but, he realized that he had never properly looked around.
As the thought came to his mind, Tang Chen slid off the sofa and decided to take a walk around the place.
Sitting and reading books for too long was not good. He needed to take a walk and stretch out.
Tang Chen swept his gaze around the office.
His mother's office was quite simple.
There were a lot of books in his mother's office. Then, a desk was placed just next to the large window.
Tang Chen could imagine seeing his mother sitting there as she looked at her computer.
The little boy walked around the table and saw that there were two photo frames. One of the photos was the picture of their family. His mother and grandmother were holding him and Xiao Xiao.
The other was a photo of him and Xiao Xiao when they were still babies.
Seeing the photo made Tang Chen remember his little sister's words.
Xiao Xiao said that their mother kept a photo of their father. However, Tang Chen had never seen such a photo. He suddenly wondered where his mother kept that photo.
Tang Chen had tried to look for the photo but he could not find it anywhere.
Tang Chen thought that it would be good if he could take a look at the photo of their father. That way, he can be fully prepared. He wanted to observe the man before allowing him to get close to both his mother and little sister.
He wondered if his mother was keeping the photo in the office.
As the thought came to his mind, Tang Chen began to look around the room again.
He wondered if he should search for it.
But then, the shelves were too tall and he did not know if he could reach for them.
