Chapter 38 - Little Adult

Ye Heng gave the little boy a lookover. He almost could not believe that he would run into this adorable boy again. He swept his gaze around the restroom area and saw that there was no adult around. "Are you here alone?"

Tang Chen shook his head. "My Mommy is waiting for me in the room."

A faint sigh escaped him. Of course, Ye Heng knew that it would be impossible for a little boy like Tang Chen to be alone at a fancy restaurant like this. However, he could not help but be curious, especially as he had always seen the little boy alone.

"Then, did you come here by yourself?"

Tang Chen nodded. "I'm already a big boy. I can go to the restroom by myself."

Ye Heng chuckled. He could not help thinking that the look on Tang Chen's face was quite adorable.

Tang Chen was still a little boy, but he seemed to act like a little adult.

Ye Heng had an urge to pat the little boy on his head.

However, he did not want Tang Chen to feel uncomfortable. They were not that close for Ye Heng to do something like that.

Ye Heng shifted his gaze to the sink in front of him. He washed his hands first before looking at Tang Chen again. "The sink in this restroom is too high. Let me help you up, alright?"

Tang Chen hesitated. But then, he realized that there was no one else around to help him other than this uncle in front of him. If he did not get this uncle's hand, he would struggle to stand on both his feet to wash his hands.

"Alright." Tang Chen nodded. "Uncle, please help me."

This was not the first time they met.

Each time they ran into each other, this uncle would always help him.

Tang Chen felt that he could trust Ye Heng a little bit. He should not be a bad person.

Ye Heng dried his hand with the paper towel. Then, he walked to Tang Chen and carried the boy in his arms. He helped the little boy wash his hands with soap thoroughly. Once it was done, Ye Heng put the little boy down again and handed him a paper towel for him to wipe his hands.

The look in his eyes turned gentler as he watched the little boy.

Ye Heng figured that by now, he had a soft spot for Tang Chen.

He suddenly recalled something that his youngest sister had said to him the other day. Xiao Luo said that this little boy resembled him a little bit.

As the thought came to his mind, Ye Heng decided to observe Tang Chen a little more. However, as Tang Chen had his head lowered, Ye Heng was unable to take a closer look.

"Uncle, thank you for helping me again." Tang Chen looked up.

"You are welcome." Ye Heng smiled. "Remember to return straight to your mother after this. Or else, she would worry."

"Un. I know."

Seeing that the little boy was leaving, Ye Heng stepped forward to help him with the door. The smile on his face widened when he saw Tang Chen nodding at him politely.

He had not met the little boy's parents yet. However, Ye Heng felt that the boy's parents had done a good job to raise such a polite boy.

Instead of leaving, Ye Heng stood in front of the restroom and watched as Tang Chen entered one of the private rooms in the restaurant.

"Chen Chen, you're back."

"Mommy, I'm back."

"I was just about to go out and find you."

The distance between the private room and the restroom was not that far. Therefore, Ye Heng could hear the voices coming from the room.

Judging from the conversation, Ye Heng knew that Tang Chen had safely returned to his mother's side.

However... why does it feel as if the mother's voice is a bit familiar?

Ye Heng walked past the private room that Tang Chen entered to return to his room. Ye Heng tried to peek into the private room just before the door was shut and saw the figure of the lady and a man sitting in the room.

He guessed that they should be Tang Chen's parents.

Unfortunately, he was unable to look at the faces of his parents. Otherwise, he would be surprised to know that they were the people he knew.

Ye Heng inhaled a deep breath as he tried to compose his thoughts before returning to his room.

A few pairs of eyes were watching him as he walked into the room.

Ye Heng sat beside his mother and looked at the young woman in front of him.

"What happened?" Ruan Xia whispered as she leaned to her son. "Ah Heng, you seemed to be in a good mood. "

A faint smile appeared on his face as Ye Heng recalled his meeting with that young boy. "It's nothing," He whispered back. "I ran into a friend on my way back. That is all."

Ruan Xia observed her son for a brief second before continuing her conversation with Mrs. Wu. Once in a while, Ruan Xia would pause and glance at her son.

Seeing him lowering his head and drinking his tea quietly made her frustrated.

She wanted to introduce her son to Miss Wu's youngest daughter. However, it seemed that her son was not showing any interest towards the young miss.

A sigh escaped her.

Her son would not object each time that they suggested for Ye Heng to attend a blind date. But it seemed that her son was not making any progress.

Ye Heng had gone on a few blind dates but it seemed that he was not interested in any of the women.

Ruan Xia wondered if her son was interested in any woman at all.

However, Ye Heng had convinced her that he liked women.

Then, why is it that each time she introduced him to someone, Ye Heng would look disinterested?
