Chapter 12 - Accepting My Fate. |Part 2|

Wasting no time, Triton went home with me so I could get a backpack with a change of clothes. Afterwards, we went back to the forest and left our bags inside a cave, I found it interesting that he always had a change of clothes in his backpack.

Now we were standing in front of the cave.

- You can't control the transformation that comes by extinction, but can you transform by your will? - he asked, I realized that he was watching me.

- I don't know. I've never tried it. -Admit.

-Good... You'd better give it a try.

"The pain makes me retreat," he said quietly, but I knew he would listen.

- Look, I have a trick to make it hurt a lot less. He gave a small smile. - When you transform, try to think about what you like most when you're a wolf. - he explained. - This eases the pain and then when you are more experienced it will hurt even less, because you will have already gotten used to it.

"How old are you?" I asked after convincing myself of his explanation.

"Two hundred and fifteen," he said. "And by my accounts and your information." You must be twenty-five, right? So, you haven't stopped aging yet, so it hurts a little more.

- What is it like to stop aging?

- Awkward at first, but you get used to it and even start to like it. He sighed and stared at me. - Are you trying to reel me in?

- I think my psyche is. - I turned my back and entered the cave. - I'm going to try what you said. Oh, and if it hurts the same way, I'm going to bite you, so get ready. I entered the cave and heard his loud laughter.

*

It didn't hurt as much as it used to and I just had to think that I was a wolf running free in the woods. As soon as I came out of the cave, Triton was already waiting for me in wolf form, it was medium and light brown. Their clothes were folded and were placed on the side of the cave entrance.

He was lying down, but he opened his eyes as soon as he saw me, I stared into his caramel eyes that were in some ways different from Bryan's.

He stood up, walked over to me, and nibbled on my ear in a gesture of approval. I shook my head, hiding my shame. Then he turned around and nodded to me to follow him, I felt agitated inside, I loved to run.

As soon as we started, we kept a fast and steady pace, while my mind traveled with all the sensations that the forest gave me, my paws stepped willingly on the earth, my eyes kept straight ahead, my nostrils did not let any smell escape, my ears attentive to any noise and my fur felt the wind that showed me that I was free.

I was so sillyly happy, that feeling of freedom was great... How had I hated this other part of me?

Triton stopped when we reached the lake, the same one we had talked about earlier, I stopped next to him and realized how small I was.

As he remained still, I dared to come closer to him, it didn't take much for me to smell his intoxicating nutty smell, I jumped forward and ran to the shore of the lake.

I looked at my reflection, I had never done this before, I shook my head and watched my hair move, it was fun and a little silly. I showed my teeth and noticed that my canines weren't as big as Aunt Ju's, I licked them, I was getting hungry.

I lowered my head and drank some water, an attempt to calm down, then sat down and waited for Triton to do something, it didn't take long and soon he started walking towards me. When he got to my side, he was still on all fours and I realized that he was too serious, his scent told me that he was worried about something.

He noticed I was watching him, so he pushed me aside, causing me to fall, I stood up growling under my breath and could see something resembling a smile on his mouth.I

jumped up and nibbled on his shoulder, surprised, Triton growled feigning threat, but I wouldn't fall for such a trick. I raised my head and turned my back on him, teasing him.

When I heard his footsteps coming towards me, I ran into the forest, at least I thought I could get away from him there.

However, I was surprised with a surprise attack, and before I could understand what had happened, I found myself lying on my side staring at a tree while Triton held my neck to the ground with one of his paws and, by his expression, was amused by my defeat.

As soon as he let go of me, I grunted, frustrated that I had lost so easily. He sat down in front of me and stared at me for a moment, then raised his head, his muzzle looking for something, as I searched the area - which was what I thought he was doing - I took the opportunity to get a better look at him.

He was bigger than my aunt, his fur looked as good as hers and I wanted to touch him, his eyes were caramel and I was fascinated that they were so different from Bryan's. His ears kept moving, he could only be searching, his muzzle worked quickly to identify or find something; While he was doing all this, I could only think of one thing: I didn't want to be separated from him... I was drawn to this new perspective on life that he had shown me.
