Chereads / Road to Stardom & Marrying Mr. Superstar / Chapter 3 - 3. Personal Assistant

Chapter 3 - 3. Personal Assistant

Katrina held the reflex to gag and smile through the pain, "It's Wu Yige."

There's a fleeting eye contact between the interviewers that escaped Katrina's eye.

But Wang Lin saved the day, "Do you cook?"

"Yes, Maam."

"What cuisine?"

"I'm not proficient, but I can make simple traditional and western dishes. I also love baking."

Katrina wanted to ask what was the relevance of that skill and the position, but Wang Lin asked again: "Besides baking, what are your other hobbies?"

"Running." Katrina said, "Online, listening to music, reading… watching movies."

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Asked the vice president of Wang Media.

"No."

Weirdly enough, it was the fastest answer out of every question she received.

"You are still young," The vice president said, "but have dark circles under your eyes, so you must've stayed up late."

"The schedule is a bit irregular." Katrina answered, "I will pay attention to it, thank you."

"You are very patient and have a good temper..."

Wang Lin glanced at the vice president, who said nothing and flipped through Katrina's information again.

"To be honest." Wang Lin explained, "We want to recruit a life assistant for the artists under the company. You're actually overqualified for the job, but you have the skills needed. What do you think?"

Katrina: "..."

She was being thrifty not hiring a life assistant for her family and she suddenly offered a job as one. Life was really fun.

There was a nagging voice behind her and she finally asked, "Which artist, Maam?"

Wang Lin said with a knowing elderly smile: "Of course we can't tell you now. We need to sign a confidentiality agreement first, be patient, and be willing to hold this job for a long time before we can hire you. Food and accommodation are all included, with a monthly salary of 12.000, before tax, and five insurances for you and your niece."

Katrina: "!!!"

"The work can be very heavy." The vice president said, "You have to accompany the stars when they go to the set to shoot movies and or go to offline events, your help can also include daily life. There's going to be a lot of commuting, you have to be in the house when the artist's not. Occasionally you need to drive for them when the driver is busy. You might've had to run errands for the artist too, like go shopping in the middle of the night."

"You have to control what you should say and what you shouldn't say. Try to talk as little as possible and do more. And no matter what an artist does or says, it must not be allowed to be announced to the outside world, let alone posted online. They cannot be told to family members or parents. In short, you cannot reveal your occupation to anyone. Please think about it."

The assistant was working with the agent or manager of the stars, they usually were more white collar and didn't get in touch with artists personal life. They helped the stars in public or in events, never actually helping them with anything personally like cooking or taking care of their home groceries because that was the life assistant or their handpicked maid did.

The responsibility of an LA was greater as they could snoop into the artist's unseen side.

Katrina knew that this kind of job allowed her to get up close and personal with celebrities. It was a profession that many people could not ask for. However, this kind of job could not be given to just anyone who applied for it. They had to sign a confidentiality agreement and liquidated damages for breaking such a contract was enormous. Not to mention, it usually needs a strong referrer.

Celebrities often appoint relatives and friends they think were reliable as personal assistants, and the agency will hire them. For the company to hire a Life Assistant instead of the artist getting themselves a PA only meant one of two things.

First, the person was not well-known; second, the celebrity was difficult to serve…

Judging by the starting salary, Katrina knew it was number 2.

They gave Katrina time to think about it and the math was good.

With this salary, she could hire a full time nanny and life assistant to take care of Lin Zhi while Katrina was commuting to work. Half of Lin Zhi's medical bill would be covered by the insurance and Katrina could save her money just in case. For that, she could rent a cheap place near the artist's home if necessary and went home only during the weekend.

"I've thought about it." Katrina returned to the office and said, "Chairman Wang, I'm willing to give it a try."

Wang Lin hummed and said, "Fe said you are a very nice person and you are enthusiastic about everyone. Don't be impulsive. Let's try it out for a while."

Katrina smiled bitterly and nodded. Wang Lin prepared the contract. Katrina asked carefully: "Which star is it?"

"Oh." The vice president came over and put the contract on the table. , said, "Wu Yige, he is in the office next door."

Katrina: "..."

Wu. Yi. Ge.

Remembering how this student of Brother Zhan bullied her all her childhood, she shuddered.

The man was a year older than her.

He got the talent, the looks, and the work ethics to be successful but he didn't. Katrina was on the verge of collapsing when she heard his group's debut song but ended up liking it. She was gloating when he was unsuccessful, but also losing her mind when the company actually disbanded the group.

Wu Yige turned from being an idol singer to an actor. He started from a small role in television, not the internal production idol drama many current idol turned actors these days had, but an actual small role that he must auditioned for against hundreds of people.

He debuted as an idol when he was 15, worked under the group name for 2 years, in hiatus for another year, and finally started his career as an actor at 18.

It was on his 25th birthday he got his breakthrough role as a supporting role in a movie about an air force squad and gained recognition from the audience. Other than the debut drama, he only played two other dramas of an e-sport national team in world olympics and an eastern fantasy martial arts world.

Ever since he took on his first film at the age of twenty-five and it was a box office hit, Wu Yige has immediately won the favor of millions of girls. Fans were eating up his role as a cold air force captain and Wu Yige only took movie scripts and never starred in any drama ever again.

The fans editor was biting their nails for the lack of materials to edit, the fans cameramen were tired of guessing which of these hoodie men was Wu Yige everytime he was in the airport or somewhere outside his offline event, and the media was tired of the lack of news from the superstar!

Fans were craving for his news, but the man was so damn lowkey!

They could only swarm the cinema and hit the box office so they could get a once in the full moon selfie.

Vice President Lin held the steering wheel while training Katrina, and said, "Wu Yige is very concerned about personal hygiene, and in front of him, you can't refute anything he says, especially don't teach him anything, do you understand?"

"I understand." Katrina said.

"I heard you raised your niece, it's not far off." Vice President Lin glanced at Katrina. "You can do this job, I am optimistic about you. ."

Katrina asked: "Has Wu Yige driven away many assistants?"

Vice President Lin glanced at Katrina regretfully and didn't answer.

Vice President Lin stopped the car in front of a villa. This community was heavily guarded, more than her house or the old job's apartments.

"I will ask the property management company to get you an access card later. Now I will take you to Wu Yige's house first," Vice President Lin rolled down the window, drove into the community, and said, "If you meet stars you lik, don't freak out. I know you only answer Wu Yige because he is the most famous, but remember not to show your love for any artist and not to praise Wu Yige's competitors. Even if this star is his friend, do you understand?"

"I understand."

Vice President Lin parked the car in the garage, opened the door, and took Katrina in. Katrina was shocked on the spot.

"Someone will come to clean every day." Vice President Lin said, "You don't have to worry about these.

"You do whatever Wu Yige tells you to do. When he doesn't call you, you don't have to be particularly attentive. Just make sure you arrive as soon as possible when he calls you."

"Okay." Katrina replied.

"If you didn't arrive in time." Vice President Lin said, "Don't say something like you didn't hear or pretend to be pitiful, just say you fell on the floor or there's a sudden traffic, he won't blame you."

Katrina listened earnestly. This was the senior worker's survival guide in the workplace.

Wu Yige's home has three floors on the ground. The first floor was the living room, kitchen, dining room and a large garden outside. The second floor was a row of rooms, and the third floor was a row of rooms.

In addition, there was a large basement.

There was an unfinished map on the dining table. Vice President Lin was obviously worried about whether Katrina could handle this difficult job. But Katrina seemed to have made up her mind and said, "I will do my best."

"Don't be nervous." Vice President Lin said, "The Chairwoman will introduce you to Wu Yige in the evening, and I will take you to buy clothes later. The company will reimburse you."

Wait..

"Why would I need clothes?"

"Don't you read the contract? You're living in LA/PA. You'll stay here."

"WHAT?!"
