Chapter 17 Understand oneself.
As mentioned before, the only way to progress on the path of Genis is to attempt to understand your true self.
Emma is an ambitious woman, this is something she knows deep inside her heart, if given the chance she will jump at it like a starving person, however her morals are what stop her from pursuing her ambition.
Loyalty to her late husband.
Love for her children.
Not wanting to disappoint her children.
Fear of being left alone.
These are the factors stopping her from pursuing her ambitions.
If she wanted to, she could easily sleep with someone with power and gain power and wealth, this is something easy for her considering the place of work, and her infamy as the most beautiful and knowledgeable history teacher in the world.
She couldn't progress in the Genis scripture out of fear of what would happen to her, this was cleared up by the scientist on Sophia's phone, although she couldn't see his face, she could hear his voice, using her own personal superpower as she calls it in order to give justice to her unusual enhanced perception for a normal human like her, she could hear the truth behind Mr Blights words, this is what gave her the confidence to try.
Unfortunately all that confidence was shattered upon learning that her son still has reservations about the scripture, just the thought of disappointing her children, and being left all alone again like her late husband did to her, made it impossible for her to even attempt the Genis scripture again.
But by this time she could tell, if given the chance, she will be able to understand the first line, so when Kaile came down the stairs and stated he wanted to learn the scripture, she didn't hesitate.
In the end she learned it on the spot, leaving Kaile and Sophia surprised but not too much because, if there was anyone between the three, both of them would automatically think Emma would be the first to learn it.
Now all that is left is Sophia.
As stated before, Eleonor believes Kaile should be able to learn the first line now, so all that is left is Sophia.
Sophia is a young woman without much substance, or at least that's what she believes of herself.
Ever since that fateful day in kindergarten when she learned of siblings, she had dedicated her entire life to the thought of having one.
How to love them.
How to give them what they want.
How to make them feel happy and fulfilled.
Even her teasing Kaile was just a means to this, although it has somewhat changed from this goal.
But the core remains the same, in order to get closer to Kaile she could do anything.
This has always been her dream.
So when her mother came to her and asked her if she wanted a sibling, she didn't hesitate.
She failed the first time she read the scripture for similar reasons to Emma.
Only that instead of fear of death, and how Kaile would thing about it, she was instead determined to try and use this mysterious scripture to protect her brother to the best of her ability.
To stop the bullying he receives from that jerk in class.
To fill in the sadness he has in the heart with nothing but herself.
But in the end she failed.
She failed for a very simple reason.
She simply didn't understand her own determination, or at least she did, but no longer does.
Her pure thoughts changed somewhere around the line, and after today's showbocal on the stairs with Kaile.
She finally understood why she failed so miserably.
It can be said that she is the closest to understanding her true self out of Emma and Kaile by hundreds of times, but at the same time it can be said that she is also the furthest away.
But now what will happen when a person that is just a half step away from gaining complete understanding of oneself reads the Genis scripture?
Kaile was a complete lost cause when it came to the Genis scripture. Although the scripture was made for him by Eleonor, he was by far the furthest away from learning it out of practically everyone in school.
People that want fame and fortune just because society tells them too.
People that work for others just because others told them too.
These people in Kaile's school, are the type of people that will 100% fail to understand the Genis scripture in the first month, and will inevitably regret it later in the future, but these were the same people more likely to understand the first line before Kaile, and.
Why was that?
Simple. It was because Kaile never stood a chance to begin with.
If you haven't guessed by now, Kaile was that same senior brother Eleonor talked about in her past.
Kaile is nothing special.
He isn't some almighty reincarnated individual.
He isn't someone that is destined to become something from nothing like a son of luck seen in novels.
In reality, Kaile was just a very, very old soul.
A soul that has gone through countless reincarnations.
A soul that has been reincarnated into worlds like, magus world, Japanese isekai worlds, cultivation worlds, martial artist worlds, heck he was even reincarnated into a world of reincarnators.
That world had a world will, and the world will allow them to reincarnate into different worlds, giving them boundless power as a result the more they reincarnate.
Despite all these grand opportunities, Kaile soul has been blessed with the opportunity to experience.
He still enters the cycle of reincarnation up until this very point.
Every life Kaile lives, he is destined to die abruptly before accomplishing anything special.
It's not like he was some almighty expert at one point, but was killed and now he suffers from negative karma for his next 10,000 lives or anything like that.
Kaile in fact was just a normal person, living in a world that's much similar to earth. Two almighty experts were fighting for more than 100 years, during this time they had destroyed countless worlds.
The world Kaile was on was no exception to this, but unlike all the other worlds that were destroyed thanks to the fluctuation waves from battle. Kaile's world was struck directly by a misfortune blow.
This misfortune blow was something casually released during the fight however, to a normal person like Kaile, and in fact just like everyone else on that earth like world, their soul's became tainted.
Kaile isn't the only one suffering from this misfortune curse, everyone on that planet is too. Every reincarnation leads to death without a doubt.
Over the countless years of life and death, Kaile's soul gradually built up an aura of sadness, each life he would be able to rid himself of most of it, but that last little hint of it, because even if Kaile did not know, his soul knew that death wasn't far away from him.
That misfortune lead Kaile's soul to lead very tragic lives, family deaths, lovers deaths.
The misfortune never affected him in a way that didn't lead to death, so things like being cuckolded never happened to his soul before.
There is a very simple reason for this.
It's because of the nature of the misfortune blow that was released from that expert.
That expert was called the emperor of misfortune, so during the fight that person tried to build up the misfortune of death, which would inevitably lead to the death of his enemy no matter what.
If Kaile experienced a different kind of misfortune, maybe his soul would not have survived to meet Eleonor's soul, and as a result, not lived to this very day.
Now Kaile's soul has being cleansed from any misfortune by Eleonor, the aura of sadness on his soul also dissipated.
Now without the sadness in Kaile's soul, comprehending the first line of the Genis scripture should be possible.
It's thanks to the sadness that Kaile was able to truly understand a part of himself.
It's thanks to the sadness that Kaile, after closing his eyes, was able to understand the first line of the Genis scripture quite quickly.
''Absorb the Genis energy into every single part of the body and after the body the soul.'' Kaile and Sophia spoke out loud the method to absorb Genis energy, at the same time, just like Emma did after comprehending the first line.
The only difference was that Sophia and Kaile only heard '@$#!%' because they hadn't yet comprehended the first line of Genis scripture.
But it didn't end there as Emma and Kaile heard and looked over to Sophia in shock.
The previously happy smile on Emma's face was replaced with a shocked expression. Just like the satisfied expression of learning the first line was wiped of Kaile's face, all that was left was bewilderment.
''#@$%' was all Kaile and Emma heard after the first part of explanations on how to absorb Genis energy into the body and soul.
Kaile and Emma just looked at each other. The look in their eyes said it all.
For Emma, the thought in her eyes was.
'Just how did Sophia learn even more of the scripture?'
And for Kaile it was.
'Just how did she fully understand herself as she is now?'
Kaile knows unlike Emma and Sophia that, in order to progress in the scripture first you must fully understand yourself. After that Kaile has no idea what might happen.
But due to the mystical effects of the scripture, Kaile and Emma can instinctively feel that they haven't understood themselves fully yet.
Also because of the scripture, they can tell Sophia understands herself fully right now.
