[ Haru's POV ]
I sighed as I laid on my seat. Everyone else around me acted like any other kid their age, being loud and annoying.
Quietly, I just sighed for the hundredth time, the initial rush of meeting the main protagonist and rival disappearing. The crowd was just a blur as I focused and tried to drive them away.
"Class that's enough" The sound of the teacher silenced everyone, to which I sang my praise. However, that vanished as I realized it was the same teacher that would tolerate Bakugou's torment against Midoriya.
The woman in front of me smiled brightly as she encouraged everyone to sit down and be ready for class. The children were disappointed, clearly not done bragging about their quirks.
I looked to my peripherie to see a spiky mess of blonde hair sitting down at the table. To his side was a green haired boy with the exact opposite aura as the spiky pomeranian.
I chuckled at the duo, it all felt so surreal seeing them, even though I've been here for four years already. The teacher then clapped her hands and said to everyone to introduce themselves.
This spiked the short-attention span of the kids as they raised their hands frantically to be the first. I of course melted into the background, to tired to entertain this. Being a 16 years old when I died, I was now technically 20, and right now I felt like falling asleep.
Nevertheless, I forced myself to watch these children introduce themselves.
"Hi! I'm Nakamura, Nana. I'm four years old and my quirk is called Sparkle!" The kid said enthusiastically. She raised her hands and her entire arm glowed brightly, to which everyone 'ooed' in response.
"Hah, so your basically an overgrown night-light?" A brutish voice said from the back, and I didn't need to turn my head to know who said it.
The girl's smile wavered and she quickly ran back to her seat. After that, everyone else showed their name and quirks as if it was the only thing they had worth showing, which to be honest is a semi-accurate description of My Hero Academia culture.
Then soon it came down to the next introduction, the one and only ticking time bomb.
"The name's Bakugou, Katsuki! And my quirk's explosion!" The kid shouted and released miniature explosions from his hands. "You extras watch as I will become the next no 1 hero!" With that, the class erupted in cheers.
Next, was of course the next no 1 hero, and the stories main protagonist.
"My name's Midoriya, Izuku and I want to be a hero!" The boy said with so much conviction that I practically had to restrain myself from squishing his cheeks.
"Whats your quirk" Someone blurted, and Midoriya paled at the question, unable to answer it.
"He's quirkless." I grumbled at Bakugou's answer, and soon the entire class erupted in laughter.
The once hopeful eyes of the greenette now dimmed and flickered, and I felt a tear bursting through my eyes.
I dramatically fanned my face, eyes bulged from keeping the tears. After Midoriya left—wich I failed to notice—the teacher pointed at me. There was a minute of silence as I was caught off guard. But I soon remembered I was also part of this whole school experience.
I walked to the front and passed my classmates. Arriving at the stage I smiled as bright as I can.
"My name's Takahashi, Haruma and I'm four years old" I was met with the cold, open silence as the students clearly wanted more from my introduction.
"I like reading, writing, watching—"
"What's your quirk?" Before I could continue, someone interrupted me. I turned my head and vowed I would personally rearrange his limbs. He seemed to have felt it as he deflated back to his chair.
"Wait" I glared. "Again, I like reading, writing, watching TV and drawing" I waited for any respondents, disappointingly I was only met with indifference.
Bakugo stared as if he was holding in a fart, and Midoriya looked like a sad puppy. Which again, adorable! But of course, Haru you gotta calm down!
"And my quirk's called Vixen, I can mimic animals" I said flatly, and left my spot. But before that, one kid asked another question.
"What do you mean you can mimic animals?"
"I bet he just meows like a cat" One kid said causing everyone else to laugh.
I grimaced, but decided to act as the adult.
"By that, I mean I can mimic the ability of animals" I answered and left without elaborating any further.
With that out of the way, the teacher called in the last few students and finally we began our class.
Surprisingly, the class wasn't as boring as I thought, and it seemed to keep me interested for the former half of it. The latter I struggled to be awake. But now, the most important part of the day arrived, recess!
We could go outside at the palyground which indeed gave the very needed fresh air. I walked through the sand, and let my mind wander, leaving behind the chaos.
I watched the birds fly over head, their wings flapped in complete symphony to their heartbeats. The sound of their feathers clashing with the air was a harmony that oddly itched my brain.
Below me, the earth worms digged through the ground. They slithered through the soil and I couldn't help but stare at it. Ever since I got my quirk and tapped into the wildlife, my interest for animals grew. And now, just staring at them calmed me down.
However, good things have to come to an end as my protective barrier was shattered by a shrill voice. It brought me back like a siren dragging me down to the depths of the sea.
In front of me was Bakugou, and beside him was of course his cronies, you can't have a bully without them. He was talking to me, but I was to tired to reciprocate and so decided to ignore them, even though I knew full well that it would end in a tragedy.
Yet surprisingly—but also not—Midoriya jumped in front of me and so my interest was peaked.
"Come on Kacchan, it's not hero-like to look down on someone else" Midoriya spoke, his eyes shook slightly at the sight of Bakugo.
Midoriya's words seemed to infuriate Bakugou as his hands began releasing smoke.
"What did you just say you quirkless Deku!" Bakugou fumed and just as I thought, he raised his arms and released an explosion.
Quickly, I grabbed Midoriya and the explosion managed to hit a tree behind us, scaring the birds in the process.
"Hey that's not cool" I said as I watched the the birds fly away. Being able to tap into the animal kingdom enabled me to be more aware of the animal's around me.
"What do you know!" He relaesed another explosion aimed directly at us, but still I managefd to dodge it with Midoriya. Sensing the bomb has been lit, I grabbed Midoriya and told him to stand behind me, he agreed and slipped back.
"Don't even think of dodging this one!" Bakugou yelled as he sent multiple explosions at us. By now, everyone in the playground was watching, but suspiciously the teachers were absent.
Midoriya closed his eyes, prepared to be burnt again, but I just hardened my vision. Tapping my chest, I felt the same surge of power. In my head, a cacophony of roars echoed throughout. I focused harder, and the roars dissipated to reveal the animal I was looking for.
The explosion hit, and a burst of smoke erupted in the playground and the kids coughed. Please tell me, the teachers heard this!
From the smoke, Bakugou watched triumphantly at his work, only for his face to drop at the sight in front of him.
I smirked at his reaction, as the smoke cleared it revealed a giant spectral animal. Looking at it, it was transparent and made up of silver, smoky mist, which reminded me of a ghost. It had four legs an elongated snout, and spikes coming out from it's body.
"Impossible!" Bakugo growled, but I only chuckled causing him to growl.
"Meet the echidna!" I said proudly "One of the only mammals to survive fires!"
Everyone around me watched with shock at my statement and I only sighed. Closing my eyes, I could feel the primal instinct of the echidna, as if I was merged with it. But of course I exhaled and let go, thus the animal transformed into a silver mist and retreated back into my chest. My eyes glowed as the mist disappeared, the energy vanishing as well.
After that whole confrontation, the teachers finally arrived, like where have you been!?
They took us in and we were now surrounded by our parents. Bakugou was now being scolded, Midoriya was hugging his mother, and my parents were being over protective.
The teachers tried to play it off as just harmless fun, but of course they knew exactly what was happening. However, I let them have this one and left quietly.
That day, Midoriya became closer to me, he asked tons of questions about my quirk, to which caused a great headache. Thankfully, my parents were there to save the day.
I left the first day of school with a bang, literally. And for some reason, I wondered just what the future might hold.
