"Alright, no waste any more time. Let's practice!" Elizabeth said as she pressed the button to start the simulation room system while she stood behind Mania to teach her student.
"Focus on Mariel and Beatrix only. Don't look away!" Elizabeth said.
"Ok!" Mania said with determination.
Mania was more focused than ever because Elizabeth was watching over her from behind. It made her more confident this time.
"Did you notice that Mariel moves forward very quickly? If you only aim at your friend, you'll miss it and accidentally heal monsters behind your friend instead. So, you must aim about half a meter ahead of Mariel. Try it!" Elizabeth explained the steps in detail.
"Understood!" Mania said, immediately casting healing spell as mentioned, which was exactly what Elizabeth had said, because the healing spell she had cast had recovered the cloned Mariel, the cloned turned around and smiled for a moment before fearlessly facing the monster.
"Don't forget Beatrix too! Even though your friend was able to dodge the attacks from the monster's attack, she was at risk of running out of magic power. Therefore, you must cast a recovering mana spell on your friend as well. Don't just focus on one person. The healer is the person who was behind the success of the team. It won't happen if the supporter wasn't good enough, remember this!" Elizabeth said.
"Understood!" Mania responded. The nervousness from before disappeared because Elizabeth was there to teach alongside her step by step. This made her more confident than ever and her goal of supporting the teammates better will be achieved.
"From my analysis, Mariel's movements are diverse, as the top swordsmen are constantly changing their fighting moves. Sometimes they retreat quickly, sometimes they will attack more slowly or rush in to attack the monsters. Therefore, it is the duty of the healer to have quick eyesight and accuracy. When you go out into the outside world, there will be no excuses because there are only two outcomes: survival or death. Remember this!" Elizabeth said in a loud noise.
"I got this." Mania responded.
"When Mariel moves normally or slowly, just focus your healing on her but if her movement changes to be faster, then you aim forward your friend about half a meter to 1 meter depending on your experience. Keep that in mind." said Elizabeth.
"I understand!" Mania said.
"Don't forget your other friend. Did you see that she was attacked?" Elizabeth said loudly, criticizing Mania for not focusing on the cloned Beatrix for a moment. She was attacked by ice magic and was injured.
"I'm sorry, I'll help her quickly,. Mania said as she hurriedly healed the cloned Beatrix and continuously strengthened her magic power. Then she turned her focus to Mariel again, but Mania was not careful and was hit by the fire magic from the gargoyles, causing a burn on her right wrist that held the wand.
"I told you, being a healer isn't easy. You must be more focused and don't give up easily, understand?" Elizabeth urged, encouraging her student.
"I'm really sorry. I will do it better." Mania said with a guilty expression. Even though she made mistakes, at least she was improving little by little overall.
A time has passed, Mania is doing better than ever, with statistics showing that Healing was successful at 60 %, more than last time's success of only 40 %. Team support was at a fair level of 50 %, which is considered an improvement from what was expected.
"Excellent! From now on, I won't tell you anything else, but I'll look behind you but if you make an unforgivable mistake, prepare to be criticized by me. Let's begin!" Elizabeth said.
"Understood! Please keep an eye on me." Mania said with confidence.
Mania then entered the simulated battle system again. This time, she was even more determined because she wanted to prove to Elizabeth that she had improved more than before. Mania tightly gripped her healing wand and focused on the cloning of Mariel and Beatrix, alternating between them, and providing better support. When an error occurred, Mania chose not to be complacent, but rather quickly solved it immediately. This made the team's battles become smoother. The cloned Mariel and Beatrix began to smile, which made Mania even more encouraged.
Elizabeth, who was looking at Mania behind, began to smile slightly. At least what she taught her student the first time was quite successful. But...these things suddenly made her think of her childhood again unexpectedly.
"Squall*"
The sound of a female elf baby being born and crying but what this baby was going through was too cruel to accept because her mother died immediately after giving birth to this baby. This made the elves team dejected as they were unable to save the baby's mother.
"I heard this! My baby...what happened? My wife...Why!" The male elf who was the husband entered the birthing hut with a happy expression on his face, but he changed to sad when he saw this happen. It was hard to describe this.
His wife lay motionless on the bed with a sheet covering her face. As for the birth attendant, she turned to look at him with a sad expression and tears streaming down her face. The feelings of joy and sorrow collided together until it was impossible to describe because in her hands were a crying baby girl elf. As for the people around him, they were all grieving differently.
"Please...wake up...why is this happening...why!!!" The husband hugged his wife's dead body with tears flowing continuously. Suddenly, he looked at the baby girl in the arms of the birth attendant with a feeling that was hard to describe.
"Because of my child, right ? To cause my wife to die!" the husband said insanely.
"It's not like that. Your wife's body was not strong from the beginning. At least your daughter survived." The birth attendant tried to explain through tears.
"I can't accept it ! Why did my wife have to die? Why!!!" The husband said loudly in the hut, causing everyone else outside to quiet down.
The baby girl elf was named Elizabeth, as his wife had originally given her, but her fate seemed to have cursed the village's production which had dropped to an unprecedented level. It caused gossip to spread around that it was definitely this baby that had brought bad luck to this village.
Elizabeth had a bad time while growing up because people in the village didn't talk to her much. The other children despised her as an unlucky person that no one cared about. Moreover, her father expressed his displeasure almost every time he saw her because he believed that Elizabeth was the cause of his wife's death. Each day Elizabeth went hungry because her father was not interested in taking care of her and gave her enough food. All day he spent his days working and drinking with other friends in the village, he didn't know how lonely and hungry his own daughter would be.
Elizabeth was so emaciated that she barely had the strength to move around like other elf children. Sometimes when her father came home from work, he hit her for one reason that she was the reason why his wife died. Many times, the aunt elf next door had to secretly bring food for Elizabeth to eat, she felt very sad for Elizabeth's pitiful life.
One day, Elizabeth was sick with a high fever. Her body was trembling, and sweat was pouring out of the body without stopping but her father still didn't bother to take her to the village elf doctor. Moreover, he also let her be sick in the house alone without any indifference. It caused dissatisfaction among the other nearby Elf families to the point of severe reprimand on him.
"After all, Elizabeth is your daughter. You should take her to Grandpa the Elf Doctor now!" an elderly female Elf said loudly outside the house.
"Forget it, just let her die like that. She caused my wife's death. I don't care!" Elizabeth's father said loudly in dissatisfaction. This caused the girl to lie on the floor in the house with tears streaming down her face after hearing this heartbreaking conversation.
"Father...Don't you love me anymore? I'm sorry...for being born and made my mother died. I'm so sorry." Elizabeth was hurt both physically and mentally. She could only let death slowly take her life away. Whatever happened, it was considered her own fate for being born to cause problems for other people.
In front of the elf village, Hector was passing by and stopped to greet the village guards, with the elder village chief elf even coming down to greet him.
"Welcome, Lord Hector. It is a great honor to visit this small elf village." the Elder Elf said happily.
"I was just passing by for a moment because I had to go on an important mission." Hector replied. But after a while, he heard people arguing with each other inside the village, so he walked in to see what was going on.
"What's going on here?" Hector asked curiously.
"People were fighting over a father who refusing to take his daughter to the doctor, so we planned to take her to the doctor after this." said by a male elf.
Hector felt sad and walked quickly into the village until he reached the front of Elizabeth's father's house, where he was still arguing with other elves.
"May I come in and take a look?" Hector walked in and asked with concern.
"What are you doing!… Lord Hector!" The male elf who was Elizabeth's father said in fear because in front of him was a famous legendary magician who was looking extremely dissatisfied.
"Let me take a look! Out of my way!" Hector quickly pushed Elizabeth's father away and opened the door to see Elizabeth lying there breathing heavily.
"Your daughter is very sick. Why don't you take her to the elf doctor?" Hector turned around and scolded.
"She caused my wife's death. I don't care about her anymore." Elizabeth's father said angrily.
"Then, your daughter, I will take care of her from now on. If you don't care of her anymore." Hector said as he gently lifted Elizabeth's body into his embrace.
"It wouldn't be possible to give her away for free." Elizabeth's father said with a sparkle in his eyes because he thought he might be able to get some money.
"Take it!" Hector reached into his robes and tossed a large bag containing about 100 gold coins to him, who looked delighted.
"There are a lot, so you can take her now. I will give my daughter to you. Her name is Elizabeth." Elizabeth's father said as he carried the bag of money away without looking at his daughter again.
"This guy is the most disgusting." another female elf said with hate.
"Forget this, I promise I will take care of her and train her the best I can." Hector said as he cast a basic healing spell on Elizabeth until she regained consciousness again.
"Let's go together, my dear Elizabeth." Hector said with a smile. The girl didn't answer but nodded lightly in response.
Elizabeth's new life was better because Hector raised her well. He often arranged for teachers to tutor Elizabeth until she could read and write. Moreover, Elizabeth is an elf who is unlike any other person. She possessed more healing energy than anyone else. When Elizabeth was 18 years old, she received a high-class healing magic wand as a birthday present from Hector.
"This magic wand is for you, Elizabeth. From now on, you will always be my assistant, my dear." Hector said, caressing Elizabeth's head affectionately.
"Thank you very much Lord Hector." Elizabeth replied, crying tears of joy.
"Miss Elizabeth." Mania asked until Elizabeth regained consciousness after reminiscing for a long time.
"I'm sorry, I... was remembering something." Elizabeth said.
"The training is complete." Mania said, showing results at 67 % of the simulation room training.
"That's great! Keep practicing. I'll come to test you again next time. If the results are not satisfactory. You will be punished, do you understand?" Elizabeth repeated and warned her student.
"Understood, Miss Elizabeth." Mania replied, coming to hug her teacher. This made Elizabeth feel strange, but in the end, she hugged back as well.
"Thank you again for helping me. I promise that I will be as good as Elizabeth." Mania said.
"Then I'll wait and see." Elizabeth replied with a smile.
After that, they walked out of the simulation room to go back to their rooms to rest.
Mania waved goodbye to Elizabeth before entering the girls' dormitory. As for Elizabeth, she walked back to her room for preparing the second mission soon.
