Chapter 42 - A Skill Test from Hector.

"No, I absolutely refuse! Master Hector," Hector's assistant, Elizabeth, seriously refused after looking at the application form which received from Hector's hand.

"Calm down, Eli." Hector tried to calm her down.

"Master's missions are always risky. Even though I was often an assistant, I was barely able to survive. The last student who died while doing a mission with you was nearly dead. If I remember correctly, it should have been 99 years ago." Elizabeth complained.

"At least it won't break the 100-year record." Hector said in a good mood.

"It's not funny! After all, I didn't allow you to accept that girl… What's her name...Mariel? to become your assistant!" Elizabeth said, pausing for a moment to look at the names on the application and then said again.

"Don't worry, Eli. Before accepting that girl, we need to do the skill test." Hector said as he turned his staff around in a good mood.

"Do you still think that Mariel will pass the test? It's a waste your time." Elizabeth said.

"She won't… but do you remember that first day when that girl fought one-on-one with a senior with that legendary dragon slayer sword?" Hector asked.

"I remembered it, it was that loud. It is surprising that the Dragon Fire God Magmatrion would choose that girl to be the next owner to the legendary sword from Victor. I don't know for what reason that dragon had to choose this girl too." Elizabeth said with doubt.

"Yes, this is interesting." Hector said.

"What do you mean?" Elizabeth asked, beginning to feel something terrifying in Hector's body.

"I just wanted to do the skill test to see if that girl who named Mariel is the real one. How suitable is she for the Dragon Slayer Sword?" Hector said with a terrifying smile that even Elizabeth could feel the fierce sense coming from Hector.

"What! Are you crazy??? Apply to be Principal Hector's assistant student on a mission?" Beatrix said loudly while eating dinner in their room, she wasn't expecting that Mariel would do something like this.

"Well, I just wanted to have a little adventure in the wide world." Mariel's face turned pale because she didn't expect Beatrix to be this angry.

"Are you out of your mind? you still lack a lot of experience. Outside, there are demons which are ready to tear your body into pieces. Especially as Professor Hector, he must have only high-level missions." Beatrix said.

"I heard that no one has applied to be an assistant student since the last time a male student died. It should have been a very long time ago." Mania said.

"99 years ago! If it weren't you, today would be 100 years old." Beatrix responded precisely.

"The record will have to stop at 99 years because I will be the one to get this job." Mariel said cheerfully.

"Are you crazy? Anyway, you should give up on this idea because you don't pass the first qualification." Beatrix told her friend to give up this idea.

"If I hadn't heard it from Principal Hector by myself, I will never give up on this intention." Mariel said.

Knock* Knock* The sound of the room door being knocked loudly.

"Hello." Mania said hello after opening the door to welcome someone outside the room.

"Hello! Is Marielle De Stella living here?" Elizabeth asked.

"Vice Principal Elizabeth! Yes, she lived here." Mania said with a slight shock in her voice.

"Hello, Vice-Principal Elizabeth." Mariel said and showed respect to her.

"Mariel, follow me. Principal Hector has called in." Elizabeth said.

"Yes." Mariel immediately responded with a confused expression. Then she dressed in her school uniform and came out of the girl dormitory.

While going up to the school building in the early evening, Elizabeth stopped for a moment.

"If you give up an idea, just tell me. Your qualifications were not even suitable from the beginning." Elizabeth said.

"No, I really want to do this job." Mariel firmly denied.

"You don't know anything. How dangerous is this job?" Elizabeth shouted.

"I know that it's risky to my life but I want to try it." Mariel answered clearly.

"You really are stubborn." Elizabeth knew she couldn't dissuade her student any longer. So, she didn't say anything more and immediately walked up the stairs to the principal's office.

Knock, knock*

"Come in!" Hector said.

"She's here, Master Hector." Elizabeth said, bowing, and Mariel doing the same as her.

"Thank you, Eli...Come on! Mariel, follow me." Hector said, walking to unlock the door to the left that had always been closed.

"If you can't take it then just give up." Elizabeth whispered with concern.

"Ok." Mariel said but she still confident that she can pass the test.

Hector was led into a room that was wide and dark and Mariel followed him into the room.

The door that they had just come in suddenly closed. There was also a high-class barrier magic that completely blocked the exit. The pitch-dark room expanded several times in size, along with that there were many sparkling stars appearing around them as if they were in a universe.

"Welcome to my secret room." Hector said with a strange smile.

"You're going to test me, right?" Mariel asked.

"You're very smart, Mariel. What good skills do you have, show me! If you can cause me even the slightest injury, I will consider you about passing the skill test and you can start working as an assistant student for me." Hector said.

"Then please allow me to attack you, principle Hector." Mariel said as she clasped both hands in the middle of her chest, creating a red glow around her. The Dragon Slayer Sword slowly appeared in front of her and was raised above her head until it burst into flames that scorched the entire area.

"Mariel!!!!" A loud voice resounded in Mariel's ears until she could feel it.

"Lord Magmatrion?" Mariel asked.

"Do you know who you are fighting now?" Magmatrion said in a serious expression.

"Principal Hector…" Mariel replied.

"That's a legendary Elder Wizard. I warn you, Kid! Just give up. You can't even fight him." Magmatrion reminded.

"No way! To get a job as an assistant student, I will fight!" Mariel said.

"Do your best!" Magmatrion said.

Mariel boosted her fire magic power to the maximum and attacked Hector who stood holding a magic staff with a calm expression on his face.

*The sound of a flaming sword striking out with all its might. *

"I got you! Wait a minute." Mariel said but it was too late.

Hector's staff shot back fire magic power stronger, until Mariel's Flaming Sword magic power was consumed into this, then it reverts to all fire magic to her until she could barely defend and got fully injured.

Ouch! Mariel coughed up blood. The Qi energy lines were turbulent throughout her body and the body flew far and slammed into the wall of Hector's cosmic chamber until she collapsed to the ground.

"I only use 10 percent of my magic power." Hector said with a smile.

Mariel's body was still trembling with pain. Even though there were no wounds on her body but her inside felt pain all over the body. Blood continued to flow from her mouth and nose without stopping.

"This is a Legendary Elder Wizard power. It's interesting." Mariel was not fear after all. Instead, she was happy to fight against Hector, who was the most powerful than everyone from the past. Then she began to heal herself and adjust her Qi energy until her magic power returned to full strength again.

Mariel cast her fire magic sword again and slammed it heavily at Hector, but he was easily able to defend from this attack.

With just a slight movement of his staff, Hector was able to block all of Mariel's flaming sword magic attacks.

"It's not over yet!" Mariel didn't give up easily and tried to find the weakness points of another opponent.

More than 30 moves that attacks against each other. Mariel finally found Hector's weakness point and cast the power of her fire sword into 2 lines, slamming it first, then quickly changed her stance to slam it in another direction, hitting Hector's left ribcage with full speed.

"You fool!" Hector said with a smile.

Scorching!

Hector's invisible magic barrier appeared after colliding with Mariel's fire magic sword until there was a loud noise throughout the area. Nevertheless, the barrier's rebound power was so strong that the Dragon Slayer Sword fell out of Mariel's hand and her right arm was injured to the point of almost breaking a bone. The muscles were torn inside until she cried out in pain.

Mariel rolled on the ground and tried to use her healing magic to heal the wounds inside her so that her muscles could quickly return to normal.

Ah!!! She cried out in pain.

Suddenly, a force pressed down on Mariel's body until she could barely stand up. She could only lie down still as if her body had been crushed by a large rock that was so heavy and she could barely breathe.

This force came from Hector, who slowly walked towards Mariel like a wolf staring at its defenseless prey.

Ah!!!!

Mariel continued to spit out blood. No matter how hard she tried to boost her resistance, she could hardly lift herself up even a little. Moreover, she was pushed deeper into the ground than before.

"Am I doing it too harshly?" Hector thought in his mind because his opponent was just a schoolgirl. It wasn't a demon or a high-ranking dark mage who had to use all his power to defeat them.

"!!!!!" Mariel sensed that Hector had reduced some of his force power and this was her chance. She rushed to boost her power to the maximum and was able to forcefully push herself away from Hector's force power in a hurry.

"Wow!" Hector was a little stunned because he didn't expect this girl to be this strong. As soon as she had the slightest chance, she quickly found a way to escape from his forced power on her body.

Mariel hurriedly grabbed the sword in her hand again and continued to increase her Qi energy. Then she fearlessly charged at Hector.

Scorching, scorching, scorching!

The sound of the fire sword magic and the fire magic from the staff clashed continuously. The walls of Hector's cosmic chamber trembled non-stop until the stars scattered in different directions. The damage was getting bigger and bigger, and even Elizabeth, who was watching from outside the room, felt apprehensive.

"Since following Master Hector, I have never seen any student fight against him like this, even male students. But this is a female student and her movement, her strength is so powerful like a man." Elizabeth thought to herself in wonder.

Scorching!

The sound of the fire magic from Hector's staff slammed into Mariel's chest, causing her body to fly far away, and hit the wall again.

"Ouch!" Mariel sat on her knees and used her Dragon Slayer Sword to stick to the ground to keep herself from falling. Gradually, her magic power recovered.

Hector walked in front of Mariel and looked at her with a disappointed expression. There was no movement of Hector's Qi energy to prepare for battle but it's like giving a lesson to students who have so much self-confidence that they forget to think about their own potential.

"This is the end. Finally, you are not good enough. It's disappointing." Hector said and felt very disappointed in her.

These insulting words caused Mariel to become very angry again.

(How many times have I always been looked down upon? Even though I'm in the body of a woman, I've always tried so hard, determined to practice hard to become good at this body. Countless injuries and nearly death, and tonight I was still underrated by a legendary elder wizard. It's really intolerable!) (Chai thinking)

Hector sensed the cruel aura coming from Mariel's body and quickly retreated to a safe distance.

Black magic power slowly surrounded Mariel, her eyes began to turn bright red. The skin began to crack and emerge like a snake's scales until they were arranged in a shiny.

"This spell…feels very familiar." Hector said with interest.

"Ah!!!!!" Mariel roared loudly throughout the room, along with accelerating the dark magic power combined with the fire magic power of the dragon slayer sword until it caused a red spark alternating with black. It became a frightening power, and The Dragon Slayer Sword began to tremble uncontrollably because of the combined power of two powerful forces of destruction so powerful that even Magmatrion could feel it.

"That's enough! If you push any further, your body won't be able to take it, Mariel!" Magmatrion warned with concern.

"No! I will prove to principal Hector that I am good enough for this job." Mariel said.

"Illusory Shadow skill, your training is not complete yet. The fire magic and dark magic in your body have all gone haywire!" Magmatrion reminded again.

"Shut up!!!" Mariel shouted back.

Mariel jumped over Hector's head and slammed her fire sword combined with dark magic until it formed a huge wave of black flame sword that was ready to destroy everything below until it was reduced to dust.

 "Illusionary Fire Sword!" Mariel shouted.

Hector's eyes immediately became serious. The hand that held the staff clenched it tighter than before, causing blood vessels to visibly bulge out. The magic power was accelerated to its maximum, causing a white light to appear around him that was almost impossible to see clearly.

"Seriously??? Master Hector! No!!!" Elizabeth cried out in shock because her master is serious now, this meant that the opponent would surely die. She couldn't come in to stop them because she was blocked by a magic door.

"Heavenly Punishment!" A voice sounded from Hector's mouth.

Boom!!!!!!

The sound of magic colliding violently caused a loud explosion that reverberated throughout Hector's secret cosmic chamber, shaking the whole room. Hector staggered back several steps, but Mariel was coughing up blood. The Dragon Slayer Sword fell out of her hand and her body was blown away by the force of the explosion until she could no longer control the body.

The sound of Mariel's body hitting the wall of the cosmic secret room and falling to the ground, she was unconscious, and her body had no response anymore. Blood slowly flowed from her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears without stopping.

Hector immediately breaks down the magic gate that is blocking outside. Elizabeth hurried to check on Mariel, who was unconscious and had no feeling.

"The entire Qi line in her body almost broken, Master. Urgent treatment is required!" Elizabeth said and hurriedly carried Mariel out of the room. She then immediately took her to rest on the sofa in the principal's room and used advanced healing magic to heal the body. She also used a bottle of purple body rejuvenation potion to pour into Mariel's mouth for another form of healing.

Mariel's body began to be normal again. The swollen Qi lines along the body began to shrink until they returned to normal. The girl fell asleep after receiving timely treatment. Hector and Elizabeth were relieved that at least their student didn't die before she could know that she passed or failed the skill test this time.

The Dragon Slayer Sword slowly disintegrated and returned to Mariel's arm. Elizabeth then brought a large blanket and wrapped it around Mariel to warm her body with care.

"Eli, shall we have a talk?" Hector said as he turned his head and looked out of the room window.

"Yes, Master Hector." Elizabeth said.

They both talked about many things together while Mariel was still asleep on the sofa. What is the result of this skill test? Pass or fail, but at least Mariel has proven to her professors that she is as courageous as anyone else
