Fifty-six. The design
Monalissa drove on a high speed and soon they arrived at the gardens. Louis took the car from her and parked it at the garage. After he was done, he joined her in front of the building.
Monalissa was untying her hair and stretching her clothes. She couldn't amend them as she had already slited them at the sides. Well, it was do the better, she said within. At that moment, the lady butler, Madam Angela came out with another maid to bring them in.
"Miss Walls", Madam Angela greeted.
Monalissa turned around. She bowed slightly to the woman who was standing before her.
"Come with me", Madam Angela said in that same voice she had used on the very first day she stepped foot inside the gardens.
Monalissa looked at Louis who gave her a thumbs up. Monalissa smiled and went in. When they arrived at the living room, Monalissa was still awed. This wasn't her first time but it seems that it'd take a while for her to get used to this extravagance. Subconsciously, her eyes caught sight of the intricate design that was on the couch. Her head did a spin and she lost balance. This brought her to her knees, as she developed a head splitting headache.
At this point, Madam Angela seemed to have noticed the abnormality of the young woman who was with her. She turned around and saw Monalissa on her knees with her face as white as sheet and her forehead sweaty. It was as though she had seen a ghost.
"Miss Walls", Madam Angela called.
Monalissa didn't reply. She clutched her head tightly. It was as though someone was hitting her head with a hammer.
Madam Angela gave a start. What was going on? The Boss had told her to take care of this young girl but if he comes back and sees her in this state, what was she to tell him?
At the thought of this, she was alarmed and went forward to hold her. "Miss Walls, talk to me!"
Monalissa couldn't still say anything. The design on that cushion seemed to be messing with her mind. But why? It was just a design! This had happened the first time she came here but it wasn't this severe. She thought it was a coincidence but... it wasn't.
At that moment, the entrance door flew open. Madam Angela's head shot up in fright and was dumbfounded when she saw that it was the Boss. "Master...", she called and trailed off.
Ezekiel had returned with Kim. Louis also came in with them. The trio were shocked to see Monalissa kneeling on the floor while clutching her head. Ezekiel was the most shocked. What was going on?!
He rushed to her side and immediately Madam Angela made way.
"What happened to her?", he asked
"Boss, I don't know. We were just coming in and she suddenly fell", Madam Angela explained straightforward. Sr didn't understand what the hell was wrong with her.
"Is her room prepared?"
"Yes Boss".
Ezekiel looked at Monalissa. Her face was so pale that he was scared. He didn't want to take her to the hospital again. She just returned from there not too long ago!
"Louis, get me the doctor",he ordered.
"Yes Boss", Louis replied and set off.
Ezekiel took her in his arms. "Walker", he called her.
Monalissa who was lost in her world seemed to have heard a familiar voice calling her. The voice of someone she loathed. The voice she had come to...love.
"Walker open your eyes! Don't scare master!"
Monalissa gave a start. Her master was calling her. She had to break loose from this. This was crazy. What was that design anyways?!
Ezekiel carried her in his arms and began walking upstairs. He was calling her name as he went. The duo arrived at the room and he immediately placed her on the bed. She was already calm and her color was returning but she didn't wake up.
Ezekiel was torn. What was the deal with her anyways? Why would she be like this?
The doctor arrived at the gardens five minutes later. She was led to the room where Monalissa was staying.
"Gooday Mr. Don", she greeted.
"Check her. What's going on with her?"
The doctor moved forward and began showing off her skills. After three minutes, she turned to Ezekiel who was looking at them intently. He was so keen and the doctor was a little jittery at his gaze.
"The patient is fine", the doctor said.
"What?", Ezekiel asked.
"Yes. There's nothing wrong with her", the doctor said.
"But she fainted. She's a bit pale. She was clutching her head when I met her", Ezekiel explained. All thanks to Monalissa, he had to explain things to someone.
The doctor nodded. Louis had explained all this to her on her way here.
"Yes. I think she was triggered by something she saw or might have remembered something so excruciating. She'll be better after a while. However, if it persists, consult a therapist", she stated.
Ezekiel nodded. "Alright. You may leave".
"Yes Mr. Don".
The doctor finally left. Ezekiel heaved a sigh and sat down next to her. "What's the problem with you Walker? You're becoming a mystery these days".
A knock came on the door. "Come in", Ezekiel said.
Kim walked through the door. "Boss", he called and bowed.
"Yes?",
"The people who came after Miss Walls...were sent by Miss Fords".
Ezekiel's eyes turned to slits. "Arianna?", he asked, his voice cold as always but Kim shuddered. This voice was different from the one he knew. It was killing.
"Yes Boss".
Ezekiel smiled. "I think it's time I paid someone a visit".
