Chapter 40 - Confession

Poseidon's expression is one of shock and confusion as he stares at me, unable to find the right words. "What are you saying?" he asks, finally finding his voice.

"I'm saying that when I died in this game, I woke up in the real world. In a hospital," I confess, my voice trembling. "The code you believe will unlock powers for us is a code I left for myself." I take a deep breath before continuing, "I created this game and erased my memories for a reason. Now, I'm trying to recover them. There is so much about this world that you don't know, Poseidon!" My voice rises with frustration.

Poseidon stands frozen, his trident hanging loosely in his hand. "You're lying," he whispers, barely audible over the raging winds.

"I'm not," I insist, my voice straining. "I wouldn't risk everything – our lives, this world – for a lie."
