Chapter 43 - 43

Moreover, it's a mercenary team with only three members. While many people were curious, no one was willing to join because forming a team meant they would have to undertake team missions. Later on, various types of weapons, equipment, and logistical support within the team would become significant expenses. Unless it was a pig-raising team, not many experienced individuals were willing to form a team at a low rank. After all, weapons and equipment were costly, and team missions were more complex and carried the risk of total failure with even a minor mistake.

Chu Tian didn't mind this and paid the 500,000 registration fee. Hong Shang and Nota also joined without hesitation. Soon, the registration office for mercenary teams provided an evaluation for Chu Tian's X Mercenary Team, giving it a C-grade rating.

After leaving the registration office, the three of them went their separate ways. Chu Tian headed home to check on things, Hong Shang needed some rest, and Nota went to see Kleya, still hopeful that she could craft the equipment he had requested. After all, everyone had their lucky moments, and sometimes things worked out unexpectedly well.

As the three of them parted ways, Chu Tian walked out of the mercenary base and caught a commuter train back home. When he stood in front of the small supermarket he owned once again, he couldn't help but feel a bit nostalgic.

If he didn't have the system, he would either be an ordinary mercenary who might die on missions or be forced to serve three years in the military, with the hope of returning alive and using the retirement pay for some small business, leading a mundane life.

As Chu Tian was about to enter the supermarket, his father, Chu Xiong, came out carrying a stack of cardboard boxes. When he saw Chu Tian standing at the entrance, he was momentarily stunned before calmly saying, "You're back? That's good. Come in and help your mom for a while."

"Sure!" Chu Tian hurriedly entered the supermarket. His mother, Shen Lan, was busy with inventory, apparently logging in new arrivals for shelving.

"Mom, I'll take over for you. You should take a break," Chu Tian said, taking the electronic inventory device from Shen Lan.

Shen Lan looked at Chu Tian and couldn't help but shed tears. She reached out and pulled Chu Tian into her arms. "My son, you've lost weight and gotten a bit sunburned." Shen Lan carefully examined Chu Tian from head to toe, making him feel a bit embarrassed.

"Mom, it's alright. I'll help you with the inventory, so you should take a break," Chu Tian said, somewhat awkwardly pulling away from his mother's embrace.

The supermarket closed early, and the family of three drove home in their small truck. After having dinner, Chu Tian briefly talked about joining the mercenary team and becoming quite famous in the mercenary base. His parents' immediate reaction was to suggest that he return home and continue his education at the central base, as they worried about the dangers of the mercenary base.

However, Chu Tian didn't agree with their suggestion. After spending a night at home and leaving 25 million credits for his parents, he left home once again. Kleya had called him, informing him that the equipment he requested was ready.

Back at the mercenary base, it was still bustling with activity at Golden Jade Pavilion. In the lobby, mercenaries were coming and going, and many were treating themselves to a good meal after receiving their rewards.

Chu Tian made some minor adjustments to his appearance and, guided by one of the maids, entered Kleya's room. It was a spacious room with an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. Various crafting tables and refining stations were scattered around the room.

When Kleya saw Chu Tian, she handed him a massive scythe-like weapon that was nearly 1.7 meters tall. The weapon had an all-black blade that emitted a faint gray light, and the black blade was adorned with a sharp, frosty curved edge.

Chu Tian was a bit speechless when he saw the equipment. He had asked for a powerful and imposing weapon, but he hadn't expected to receive a scythe that looked like the Reaper's. However, the design did give off a certain sense of power.

Later, Kleya took out a black robe, a black hooded cloak with a style that appeared to be a parody of the Grim Reaper when combined with the Death Scythe.

"Let me give you a brief introduction. I call these two pieces of equipment the 'Grim Reaper Set,'" Kleya said, holding up the Death Scythe and the black robe.

"As for the scythe, I call it the Death Scythe. The handle is made from the spine of an Ironbone Black Snake combined with Grade 34 Black Gold. This scythe is exceptional; it can freely extend and retract, with a maximum length of fifteen meters, making it suitable for both long-range and close combat."

"Do I have to shout 'Bankai' when I use it for long-range attacks?" Chu Tian couldn't help but quip, thinking that this girl was taking inspiration from Death Scythe.

"What on earth is 'Bankai'? Only those guys from Human Base 12 like to be so dramatic in battle." Kleya rolled her eyes at Chu Tian and continued to explain the materials used for the Death Scythe.

"For the blade, I used the horn of a Divine Flame Rhino and Carbon Steel with Ice Patterns. It has excellent strength, outstanding toughness, and I've even enhanced it. Its initial grade was D-grade, Level 5, but now it's at C-grade, Level 7. It succeeded on the first try without breaking. This time, I'm really feeling lucky."

Clearly, Kleya was extremely satisfied with the Death Scythe. Her face turned slightly red due to excitement.

She handed the scythe to Chu Tian, who carefully swung it. It had a moderate weight, and it resonated with his Ice and Fire talents within his body.

Then, Kleya handed him the black hooded cloak. "This one is simpler. It's made from the hide of a Profound Iron Giant Ape, with added Starfall Iron powder to enhance its defensive capabilities. Originally at C-grade Level 1, it's now at C-grade Level 4. Impressive, right?"

"Great, the complete weapon forging package! In the future, you can leave any materials for weapon crafting or equipment enhancement to me, and I won't charge you a single credit."

Chu Tian looked at Kleya with a smile but then asked about Nota and Hong Shang's equipment.

At that moment, Kleya's confident expression faltered a bit. "Well, you see, due to time constraints, I prioritized yours and made it overnight, so... their equipment isn't ready yet. Crafting equipment does take time."

She hurriedly pushed Chu Tian out of her room. "Alright, you should go and do your own thing. I still need to craft equipment for Nota and Hong Shang."

However, after taking a few steps, Chu Tian stopped and removed the metal sphere containing the Thunderstripe Snow Foxes from his waist. He handed it over to Kleya.

"Actually, I'm not really skilled in raising exotic beasts. You can have these two Thunderstripe Snow Fox cubs as a reward for helping me with the equipment."

Chu Tian said this and handed over the metal sphere containing the two baby Thunderstripe Snow Foxes.

As soon as the two cubs were released from the sphere, they started crying loudly with their eyes still closed.
