Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 10 HIDING

"Next target should be armour; the Gluttonous Worms are a o-go;  they are great for beginners, but they are soft armour, not suited for my plans." He rubs his chin deep in thought.

Meanwhile, his monster pet attacks the nearest Clumsy Frog; after killing it, he brings it back to his master.

Leon looks at it and sighs. Not only does it have the same appearance as him, but it is actually a better fighter than him; if not for its blank face, it would be easily passed up as a regular human.

"Tell me, system, if it kills any genetic creature, would I obtain the soul blessing or not?" This is an important question for him; he is planning to direct most of his fight by using this immortal monster pet of his.

[Affirmatively, because the clone is holding the Gemstone of Life, incomplete soul powers will be absorbed.]

"What do you mean by incomplete soul powers?"

[After recording the creation of the Soul Blessing, the system has discovered that what creates them are complete fragments of the genetic creature; the incomplete soul powers are what are left behind by the deceased genetic creatures incapable of forming a Soul Blessing.]

"This serves as a gene enhancement for my soul blessings? So unlike me, they can continue to gain power by killing genetic creatures?" His heart starts beating faster as he thinks of this possibility.

[Negative, the soul blessings are only capable of growing to a level similar to that of the host; this is for the safety of the soul of the host; your body is still adapting to your soul as it is not its original owner.]

[It has become easier for the host's soul to assimilate with the body with the addition of Cleo's clone, but it is still not enough to assure total safety.]

"Well, I guess there goes my dream, but at least I can grow stronger with my soul blessings," he mutters to himself, bringing the corpse of the clumsy frog with him.

He tries to start a fire, which was a failure after a couple of tries. Since not many items can be brought back to the Realm of the Thousand Worlds, it is mandatory for children to learn how to start a fire without the assistance of tools.

Without any memories from his predecessor to help him, Leon can only try to start a fire by doing the things that he watched on television in his former world.

"Finally!" Seeing the fire grow bigger, he cheers. Without hesitation, he starts cooking the frog with anticipation. According to Eclipshea, genetic creatures will either be the most delicious delicacies or the most disgusting item one puts in their mouth.

Smelling the scent coming from the frog, his stomach growls. After being certain that it was already cooked, he starts digging in. After he tastes the meat, his eyes light up.

He finishes the meal in just a couple of seconds or so, just as he was going to order his monster pet to hunt another one, the system's notification rings in his head.

[Consume Clumsy Frog, gained 10 normal genes overall.]

"Right! I forgot about this because of the heavenly taste from that frog, but according to Eclipshea, one can only obtain ten genetic enhancements from each species. Too bad, the meat was truly delicious, but it will only be a waste for me if I continue hunting them."

He might not be a pacifist, but he also knows when to stop. He has gained their species soul blessing and genetic enhancement, and even if his soul blessing is capable of growing stronger by killing them and absorbing their soul powers, he would rather not go on a killing spree and waste their corpses.

"With Cleo's Clone, I will be able to hunt stronger normal-grade genetic creatures; hmm, f*ck! I did not ask Eclipshea about them; I guess I should let Cleo's Clone hunt on the Gluttonous Worm cave while I should go to the Three-Tailed Chicken hunting spot; with the two of us hunting at the same time, it will increase our efficiency."

The two of them went in different directions. Cleo's Clone is now wearing the cloak that he was wearing earlier. He, on the other hand, no longer needs to hide his identity as he feels more confident in dealing with one of the weakest normal-grade genetic creatures with an additional ten normal genes in his being.

Unbeknownst to him, the subordinates of his sister were starting to worry after not seeing him all of this time. Just as they were about to send a search party for him, he was found by some of their people wearing normal clothes, which is typical for normal hunters.

"Oh, this is interesting; it seems that after his experience, he is no longer underestimating the danger that this realm possesses," states one of the guardians responsible for watching Leon today.

"I think that this is a good improvement; this change in personality will definitely help him survive this realm a lot better, making the job much easier than before," says one of the girls.

After arriving at the hunting spot, Leon quickly went and hid in one of the bushes, the guardians watching everything. We're stunned, not because of his action but by his aura; if not for them seeing him hide in the bush, they would not have been able to sense him.

"How? He is even greater than me!" Exclaims one of the guardians. The way Leon is hiding is like that of an elite veteran hunter; they do not feel anything coming from his position; it is as if he is not there, making the scene look strange, as if he is both good and bad at the same time, no in between.

One of the Three-Tailed Chickens approaches the bush where Leon is hiding. It is searching for a grub to eat, unaware of its fate. Leon is calmly watching everything.

He might not be good at many things, but hiding is one of his specialties; he can even assume the state of a living corpse if he is forced to.
