Chapter 47 - "HE STOLE THOSE DOCUMENTS"

After returning from school, Zoey called Liam over to our home. Nobody was at home, not even mother. Liam was planning to help her find the letter containing the offer request, which Sebastian had given me the other day. She wanted the both of them to get rid of it, as soon as they get their hands laid on it. Ruining that letter, would be the best way for the offer to become null.

Zoey decided to search for it in mother's room, while Liam searches for it in Jasmine's bedroom. Liam searched the entire cupboards inside Jasmine's room, but couldn't find it. While searching for the letter, his eyes went fast on some files, lying ontop of Jasmine's dressing wardrobe.

He picked up a chair, pushing it infront of the wardrobe. He climbed the chair to reach out for those files. Immediately he laid his hands on those, he came down from the chair. In as much as he was there for the purpose of finding the letter, he was also there for another mission.

He opened the jacket file, and poured out every single documents in there. He noticed that the particular file he brought down, was containing Zoey's birth certificates and other of her documents. He quickly collected the important documents he needed, and returned back the file up there.

Just as he was coming down from the chair the second time, his eyes met with Zoey's. He was fast enough to put in those documents into the right side pocket of his trouser. He beamed a smile at Zoey, while she looked at him suspiciously.

"What were you looking for there?". Zoey asked him, taking few steps closer to him.

"Aren't we searching for the letter?". He asked her.

"Yes we are, but where you went to has nothing to do with the letter we are looking for." She said to him.

Liam laughed at loud, trying to distract her away from her suspicions. He tried acting naive. His breath was already galloping and the last thing he wanted, was for him to get caught.

"I'm obviously a visitor here, and I have no idea that I am not meant to go there." He pretended to be naive.

"Fine. Did you find it?". Zoey asked him.

"No I didn't. I think we should stop for today, so that they won't catch us." Liam suggested.

Zoey nodded her head with a smirk, leaving the room. Liam followed her behind and heaved out a sigh of relief. He was happy that atleast, his visit today wasn't fruitless. He was getting closer to the truth.

Liam left our home, while Zoey went to over to the refrigerator at the dinning room, to get herself a cold bottled fruit juice. Her throat was already itching and she needed something cold.

"Today might have been unsuccessful, but I'll surely find that letter and get it ruined." Zoey muttered to herself, opening a bottle of fruit juice.

Liam returned back to Sebastian's apartment, and found his way to his bedroom. He locked the door of his bedroom from inside, and hurriedly brought out those documents from his pocket. They were already looking rough. He tried straightening them back with his hands.

"I can finally use this to find out about that little girl's paternity." Liam said to himself with a smile on his face.

"Salford Royal Hospital". He read out the name of the hospital, where I gave birth to Zoey.

**Two hours later**

In two hours time, I was back home with mother. We paid a visit to the law firm of our attorney. He wanted us to work with him this time, since the date for the reappearance in court was fast approaching. We needed to work on the case ahead of time.

I met Zoey asleep on the couch at the living room. Mother retired to my room, while I was left at the living room to take care of Zoey. I noticed that she had ended up finishing two bottles of fruit juice. I could only laugh at the situation. She even forgot to dispose them, but rather she scattered them on the floor of the living room.

"Zoey! Zoey!! Wake up already dear." I sung in her ears, tapping her gently on her shoulder.

"Who's that now?". She asked grumbingly.

Zoey opened her eyes a little, taking a glimpse of me. She thought she had seen a ghost, and she quickly jumped out of the couch. Her blurry vision was clear now. She coughed out aloud, sighing out of relief.

"Mother you scared the hell outta me." Zoey complained.

"I should rather scold you for making a mess at the living room." I said to her.

She noticed her wrong, and quickly picked up those empty bottles. I looked at her, squinting my eyes. She pulled her ears as a sign of apology to me.

"Forgive me. It won't happen again. I was bored so they kept me company." Zoey said.

"Always giving excuses for your gluttony." I said to her.

"I even slept off, poor me." She chanted, leaving the living room.

I returned back to Jasmine's bedroom, and I noticed that the chair wasn't in its position. I didn't have any suspicions, but I noticed something off. The cupboards were also looking mishandled. The sheets of the bed were scattered and it looked like someone made his or her way in here.

"Zoey." I shouted her name loudly.

Zoey ran into the bedroom, standing behind me. She could clearly see the mess Liam made in Jasmine's bedroom. She was held by fear, but she tried her best not to conceal her fears.

"Yes mum." She answered me from behind.

"What happened here in my absence?". I asked her, turning to her direction.

"Mum how would I know?". She responded back to me, laughing out.

I looked at her suspiciously, and she could clearly see the suspensions in my eyes. She stopped laughing suddenly, staring into my eyes.

"You obviously know that I can find out when you are telling lies." I said to her with a frown on my face.

"I misplaced my headset. I made the mess, because I was searching for my headset." She lied to me.

"Are you even being serious now? Why couldn't you search for it like a sane person?". I scolded her harshly.

Zoey blocked her ears with her palms, shutting her eyes. She hates being scolded at, especially by me. She just can't stand it. Luckily for her, she was happy that she came up with some excuses, that saved her from the actual truth.

"I'm sorry mum, but can you stop shouting at me now?". She pleaded with me.

"Fix back the room, to its usual state." I commanded her.

Zoey nodded her head, heading over to the bed. I shook my head about getting ready to take my bath. I was already frustrated at work, so my reaction earlier was bound to happen. If I don't react that way towards her, she would take it likely and Jasmine wouldn't love to see her bedroom in a total mess.

"Sometimes I feel like pegging mum's lips, whenever she scolds me." Zoey murmured to herself, arranging back the bed sheets.

I obviously heard her murmur from the bathroom, and I laughed with a low tone. It was obvious, that she was already stressed out but she deserved it.
