Chapter 49 - "ZOEY'S FILES ARE MISSING."

It has been a week now, since that incident happened. Zoey finally remembered her personal documents, because her school needed them. She would soon be graduating from high school, and those documents were important for all of them that were in her set.

Zoey was already dressed in her uniform, and she hurriedly entered inside Jasmine's bedroom, dragging a chair infront of her dressing wardrobe. She climbed it, and reached out for her jacket file.

The loud noise of the opening of the jacket file woke me up from my sleep. I rubbed my eyes severally, surprised to see Zoey going through her documents.

She kept ransacking her files, searching for some documents with so much keen interest. I left the bed, walking up to her to find out what she was looking for.

"Good morning mum." She greeted me, still searching for some files.

"Good morning sweet heart. What are you looking for?". I asked her curiously.

"My important documents. I can't find my birth certificate and my identification card." Zoey complained worriedly.

I was surprised to hear her say that, because those things were obviously there the last time I visited her documents. I pushed her aside, searching for those things myself. She was right, her identification card and her birth certificate were missing. I was already panicking and having some messed up thoughts. I couldn't stop breathing fastly.

"Where did they go?". I questioned her worriedly.

"I have no clues mum. They used to be here." She said to me.

"Maybe I should ask Jasmine." I said, tapping Jasmine's legs.

Jasmine battled with her legs, and couldn't endure the continuous taps. She finally woke up, and sat her ass up on the bed. She yawned with her mouth widely opened. She stretched her arms, blinking her eyes severally.

"What is it again?". She asked us.

"Have you seen Zoey's birth certificate and her identification card?." I asked her.

"No. Check her jacket file." Jasmine suggested ignorantly.

I shook my head, already tearing up. I was already scared that someone was with those important documents of my daughter. My mind couldn't stay at a place. Jasmine was surprised I was crying over a little issue, but she had no idea that they've gone missing.

"Why are you crying?". She asked me curiously.

"Zoey's birth certificate and id card has gone missing." I said to her.

"What're we going to do now?". Zoey asked me worriedly.

Jasmine left her bed immediately, exchanging glances with me. It was at this point, that she realized that it was a serious situation. Those documents obviously didn't fly away out of the jacket file. Someone might have taken them away from the file.

"Oh my. This is very serious." Jasmine said to me, covering her opened mouth with her palm.

"I will be heading to school now. I need those soon. They're important." Zoey said to me, leaving the room.

She was off to school. Jasmine stood next to me, while I leaned my head on her shoulder panicking. My heart was pacing and my head was already hot from thinking so many things. I couldn't just stay calm, knowing that someone out there might be with those documents. The truth was going to get out now that those documents were missing.

"Something must be done immediately." Jasmine said to me.

"Who could be with those documents?". I rhetorically asked.

Mum entered inside the bed room, surprised to see documents scattered on Jasmine's bed. She picked up one of them and glanced through it.

"Is this for Zoey?". She asked me.

"Yes it is. There's actually a problem." I responded back with moodiness.

"What could that be?". She asked me anxiously.

Jasmine looked at me, while I returned back the looks. She tapped my shoulder gently, while I took a deep breath before saying another word.

"Zoey's birth certificate and Identification card are missing." I opened up to mother.

"Are you serious? Who could be with it then?". She asked me surprisedly.

"That's our question too aunt. There's a snitch near us." Jasmine exposed.

She obviously had a point, but all I wanted was for those documents to return back to us. The longer it stays outside, the graver the secrets I have concealed for so many years would get revealed.

"Don't panic Bianca. Everything will be fine." Mum assured me.

"What should I say to her, when she comes back for them again?". I asked mother.

"You can go back to the hospital you gave birth to her, and request for a new birth certificate." Mum suggested.

It wasn't going to be easy, because nothing beats originality. I nodded my head, trying to control my fast breathe. I was able to calm down, because of mum's encouraging words to me.

Jasmine helped me out in putting back the remaining documents into the jacket file. She decided to keep the jacket file into her custody, so that the thief won't come back to take away more documents from the file.

**Zoey's school...

Zoey have been quiet and moody since she arrived in school. Her friends noticed her mood, and decided to ask her what's wrong. She buried her face on a desk at the classroom, while her friends sat next to her wondering what's wrong with her.

"Zoey aren't you going to talk about your is problems with us?". Hannah asked her.

"It's been a while I've seen her so sad." Yvette's added.

"Zoey please say something." Mia bugged her.

Zoey raised up her face, staring at her friends mutedly. She was speechless at the moment. They all returned back the looks at her, and she knew they were waiting for her to speak up. She had no choice but to say something atleast. She didn't like the way they were in suspense either.

"My documents are missing." She said to them with a low tone.

"You mean your personal documents?". Yvette asked her surprisedly.

"Like your important certificates or what?". Mia added.

"My birth certificate and my id card." Zoey said.

They all looked at each other, wondering how she must be feeling now. Zoey smirked, burying back her face on the desk. Hannah tapped her back gently, trying to comfort her.

"This is serious. Something is fishy here." Mia said.

"Obviously I think so too."Hannah agreed with Mia.

"But who are you suspecting?." Yvette asked Zoey.

Zoey heaved out a sigh, keeping mute at first before finally decided to say something.

"I don't know who to suspect. Why would anyone want to have my certificate?". She asked with a cracked voice.

"Maybe to get back at you." Mia said.

Zoey laughed out sarcastically, doubting Mia's words. She didn't agree with her friends at all. Her mind haven't thought of that side, because she obviously knew she was at peace with everyone at the moment.
