Chapter 18 - Another Training? (3)

1 DAY EARLIER

IN SANTA FAMILY'S STADIUM

*CLASH*

A sound of metal clashing echoed through the air. Aiden gripped two swords, a katana and a Wakizashi, both being The Lich Llayer. Aria, wielding a normal wooden sword, relentlessly clashed blades with Aiden, who struggled to hold his ground.

"You failed, try again," Aria demanded, watching as Aiden got back on his feet. He positioned his long katana in front of him, with the smaller katana behind.

]State: Channeling[

Aiden's body crackled with black electricity, just like when he tried to cast his domain. As all of the cynical energy channeled through his body, he focused on gathering all the cynical energy he channeled and directed it into the long katana. Sweat poured down his face, revealing the difficulty of maintaining this state.

"This is Basic ]Enchantment[. It's the first of many unnamed techniques that every mage can learn, and still, you can't progress even a single bit," Aria taunted as she slashed at Aiden. Once again, he lost control of his ]Enchantment[. This training exercise focused on using ]Enchantment[ in combat, a challenging feat.

Basic ]Enchantment[ was a fundamental technique that could significantly enhance a weapon or specific body part, albeit at the cost of neglecting the rest of the body. Advanced forms of ]Enchantment[could allow a sorcerer to cover multiple body parts, with a sacrifice percentage determining the power output.

However, there was a downside to ]Enchantment[.

"F$CKKKK!" Aiden screamed in agony as he gazed at his hands. Blood covered his palms, and some of his skin was completely burned. This was the dreaded ]BackFire[. When an advanced sorcerer uses cynical energy, it ensures a ]PerfectCast[, rendering the technique harmless to the user. However, for someone as inexperienced as Aiden, a backfire was almost always guaranteed.

In previous encounters, Aria had assisted him in achieving a ]PerfectCast[. Now, with Aria as his opponent, Aiden was bound to fail.

It was like learning how to swim; once perfected, you would never drown.

"You were almost killed by losers like them!"

*CLASH*

Said Aria with an angry tone as she again slashed at Aiden.

"This is the blade that my teacher, the blade once loved as a family and the blade he hated for eternity."

*CLASH*

Said Aria as she again slashed at Aiden.

"When my teacher was a child, his parents gave him a basic sword made of fake silver. It was dull and light, just a toy for a child. But with every slash, with every tear and sweat, this blade became sharper and heavier."

"But no matter how much he hit the tree with his blade, it would never succeed in slaying a lich. The village of my teacher was raided by Liches, killing every single child or adult. Only my teacher and that fake silver sword were left alive."

"On that day, my teacher swore to kill every single Lich and destroy every Hell Gate."

"After years my teacher found a Hell Gate. It looked like a mine, every single wall was full of silver ore as it had musical notes on them in the form of black runes."

"And there was him: Melodrax, one of the Heavenly Generals Of Black Heaven. Before the arrival of The First Lich he was a demon, his name was Beleth, the god of music who had eighty-five legions of demons under his command."

]IMG[

"But after the arrival of the first lich he became a transfigured monster with the new name of Melodrax The Aetherian Radiance."

]IMG[

'What a bad design.'

Aiden could only sigh at its lame appearance.

"My teacher slayed the lich but he never expected the outcome of it. Every single drop of silver in the Hell Gate was absorbed into the sword with the soul of the lich residing in the sword as a ego."

Said Aria.

"But because of my teacher's hatred towards liches, he could never trust it to be the blade that would save his life. My teacher left the blade where it was, and after some years, he sealed me in the blade in the same place you found-"

Said Aria as a huge shock of realization hit her the moment she laid eyes on Aiden.

Aiden was looking at TikTok on his phone.

"WHY ARE YOU NOT PAYING ATTENTION?"

She screamed in frustration.

"Hey Aria, Have you ever wondered about what happened to Snugglebug? If there is an after life or if he was reincarnated?"

Aiden asked, seemingly oblivious to the gravity of Aria's story.

IN A ANOTHER UNIVERSE FAR, FAR AWAY

Within a vast snow-covered forest, two figures faced each other in a tense encounter.

One was a handsome, black-skinned man with blond hair, kneeling shirtless and showcasing a well-toned physique. Standing before him was an Asian man clad in a white shirt featuring a school emblem and black pants. Despite his typical anime romance main character appearance, a prominent bleeding scar marred his face.

The man in the uniform stood menacingly, devoid of any emotion in his eyes, as he gazed down at the frightened, kneeling blond man.

"You are right, Snugglebug. I am you," declared the uniformed man.

"I wanted to reject you. You and this ugly dyed hair," continued the man in uniform.

'I am naturally blond,' Snugglebug countered in his mind.

"This disgusting tanned skin," remarked the man in uniform.

'I am literally black,' Snugglebug thought in his mind.

"And the fact that you want to have relations with everyone's childhood friends," accused the man in uniform.

'I am literally homosexual,' Snugglebug countered mentally.

"But that doesn't matter right now. I am going to NTR you," declared the man in uniform with a menacing voice.

"Become gay, I will NTR you."

"Become a woman, I will NTR you."

"Become futa, I will NTR you."

Terrified, Snugglebug's heart pounded as he made a frantic dash for his life.

BACK WITH ARIA AND AIDEN

The atmosphere grew tense.

"We have no time for stupid small talk," Aria declared, her anger intensifying.

Her frustration boiled over as she continued, "Why did I have to train a spoiled kid like you," clicking her tongue in irritation.

Aiden, feeling the weight of her words, paused for a moment and glanced at the floor. It wasn't the first time people had regretted interacting with him.

In school, despite his popularity and willingness to collaborate on projects or homework, people eventually grew irritated and urged Aiden to go away to stop causing trouble. His parents, too, held their fair share of disappointment in him, deeming him a failure who couldn't accomplish anything.

Could he blame them? Aiden was prone to procrastination, lacked interest in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and carried an air of arrogance without much substance to support it, and now, even his only teacher, the one person who instilled a belief in his potential, regretted their interaction.

"I am sorry," Aiden expressed, clearly hurt.

"TSK- when I was training with my teacher, we never had problems like this."

IN ARIA'S DELUSION

"Even on the first day when I met him, he knew how big was my potential."

"I don't teach poor students," a tall, handsome man remarked to a younger Aria, who wore a dirty and ripped cloak.

"Even so, he wanted me to prove myself to him," Aria recalled with arrogance.

"Even a snail could get into this academy, and again, I am not teaching a poor commoner," remarked the tall, handsome man, his gaze now on the girl who, though now in a uniform, remained dirty.

"With this kind of pathetic talent, you should search for a husband faster," said the tall handsome man with a sword in hand as he looked down at the dirty girl, now sporting bruises on her head.

"He had so much trust in me that he put me on the extremely important mission of guarding the sword," Aria reminisced.

"Hey, whatever your name was, do you want to participate in an extremely important mission? By the way, the academy won't refund any money," said the man with a shameless expression.

Aria and Aiden continued their training until nightfall, with Aiden's hands now bandaged from the ]Back Fire[ from ]Enchantment[.

Aiden, visibly exhausted and troubled, retreated to his room.

Aria went inside her new room that was made specifically for her.

"*sigh* I guess I was too rough on the kid," Aria admitted, sighing at the realization.

Said Aria as she sighed.

'I wasn't so much better when I was his age. He is still young; I should apologize,' she reflected in her mind, understanding the situation from Aiden's perspective.

He was just a 16 years old kid who was suddenly thrown into a world of dangers and hardships. It was impossible for her to make a spoiled kid into a warrior in a matter of days.

Deciding on a different approach, Aria aimed for an apology and a more supportive stance. Opening her door with determination, she set off to find Aiden.

Even though Aria acknowledged that Aiden was a child, when she opened his room, she soon had a better idea of what children do when they are put under large stress.

"??? He is gone?"

Said Aria as she opened Aiden's room only to find it empty.
