Max and Emma sit as the remaining members of the meeting. As they sat quietly it was obvious nothing would happen without a push.
"Would you-."
Without a second's notice, Emma stood up and ran out of the meeting room.
Max sat in shock at the events that just took place.
"W-What the hell was that?!"
He cups his head into his hands and sighed.
"How am I supposed to work with her?"
A sudden realization popped into his head.
"I'm screwed, this has to be the universe screwing with me!"
Max slowly packed his bag before pushing himself up and out of the chair.
"I'm too tired for this, I'll just go get some coffee from Cafe Remnant and finish off this workload."
Max closes up his bag and throws the strap over his right shoulder, pushing in his chair as he leaves the room. As he exits the door he stands staring at the exit to the building, but to his right stood a crouching female, holding her head. As she was curled up into a ball. Max didn't look at her, but he could sense her presence.
"I know I'm probably going to regret asking. But, what are you doing?"
Slight tears were in her eyes as she lifted her head from between her knees.
"I-I, I was late for work and now everyone hates me!!!"
Emma started crying out of embarrassment and suddenly others in the office started noticing. Causing them to be the upcoming targets of angry and restless workers.
"Emma was it? Why don't we get out of here and get some coffee. We've got work to do."
*Max also doesn't want to get attacked by all these angry programmers.*
"E-Even after, I-I was late a-and ran out on you. You still wanna talk to me?"
I-Is she serious? Why would she think...
Max suddenly recalled himself shouting about her after she had ran out from the meeting room.
Right...
"Well, I mean we are newly appointed work partners so it'd be good to get to know each other and try to build some sort of connection."
Max crouched down to her level to look her in the face, but Emma continued covering it as her shyness and embarrassment was too strong to look at anyone. Max however felt a chill shiver down his spine as he could sense the danger coming from behind him.
Please take the bait, I can feel the soon to be pain coming our way if we don't get out of here.
"I-I guess that makes sense. B-But I don't like coffee."
"That's fine, they've got snacks and other drinks, let's go!"
Max grabs Emma's wrist and zips out the building comically with Emma flapping like a flag. As the cold employees returned to their work several erasers, rulers, and pens were thrown in front of the building's front door.
*Remnants Coffee Shop*
Seated at a window seat, Max continues working on his laptop. Typing away with haste and persistence while Emma continues munching on a banana nut muffin with pure bliss and crumbs on her face.
Remnant was bustling with different kinds of people. Working, chatting, relaxing, all types of personalities and characters filled in spots making it somewhat crowded.
"Emma as our new artist, how well are you able to draw from small details?"
Suddenly the pure bliss look vanished, as she had to start thinking again. Her thoughts obviously clouded as her timid and shy self showed itself once again.
"I-I've drawn for years, I mean I know how to draw. No, no I mean I can draw really well!"
"Emma, I'm asking if you can draw from small details someone gives you. Like If I give you a small detail could you turn it into a full character art piece?"
"I-I can draw really well."
Max's face turned blank as if he lost some brain cells from his conversation with Emma.
What is this woman's issue!
"Emma, are you a fan of Super Dash Brothers?"
"Y-Yes, I-I play T-Travis because his d-design is really good."
"Right so, do you understand that Travis was created by an artist who took a small detail and made it a decisive feature of the character?"
"Yes!"
Emma's demeanor changed the moment talk about artwork was present.
"So knowing that, do you think you're able to do that?"
"W-Well I can do a lot I mean I can..."
"Draw... I know, you've said it only a hundred times."
"Here, I'm going to give you this small detail. I want you to draw me a defining character visual with it."
Max began laying out the info about the character and they're lore. The main feature being rimless circular sunglasses and enchanting eyes.
Emma, without replying, pulled out a large sketchpad and her assortment of art supplies. It was neatly organized and she knew exactly where to reach when it came to colors, inks, and pencils with different thicknesses.
As she began drawing, Max continued writing out his stories. But as he hits the spacebar, a cold sensation starts drooling from his nose. Max paused, and Emma looked up.
"M-Max your nose is b-bleeding."
Max reached up to his nose and pressed it against his nostril. As he pulled back his thumb, his head shifted up and his eyes widened.
"EMMA WATCH OUT!"
Max grabs hold of his laptop and Emma's arm, pulling them both out of the way as a giant object crashes through the side of Remnants building where they were sitting. Everyone in the coffee shop stops what they're doing and examines the spontaneous event.
"Damn it, not now! Why now!"
Max looked over to his side to see Emma was safe but had fallen unconscious. As the object that crashed into the coffee shop began to move, a giant hole had opened up. Giving Max a clearer view of the situation. A decently big robot had appeared: Its body was spherical, arms lengthy and built with unproportionate parts, Its legs were also unproportionate but constructed for maximum balance.
"The only person who'd build this... It has to be her again."
The mech's dome head scanned the open hole for Max's face with a green lasered grid scanner. It's six dome head eyes lighting up as the scan locks onto Max.
"It was bound to happen again!"
Suddenly a guy walks up behind Max and taps him on the head. Max leans his head back and sees another familiar face.
"She at it again?"
"Oh hey Josh... Wait, how long have you been here?"
"Quite a bit, I was busy shooting my shot with some ladies over there. But got interrupted by a piece of flying roof."
Josh's forehead housing a throbbing red welt.
"Don't you think it's a little soon to be hitting on other women?"
"Eh, I'm over the past and might as well look to the future, speaking of which."
Josh looks up at the robot as it's preparing for another attack.
"You might wanna focus on that thing."
"Oh really?!"
Josh shrugs then walks away as he continues drinking more of his coffee. Suddenly the robot reaches in and grabs hold of Max with its cold steel right hand. Sluggishly ripping him out of the coffee shop. Leaving Emma passed out on the floor.
"Here we go again!!"
Max screams as he finds himself outside in the bright sun and nice breeze, twenty eight feet in the air.
