"Alright, listen up," Kurenai began, her voice serious yet enigmatic. "Each of you will receive a gem - Horyu, you get the red one, Hinata, blue is yours, and Shino, you'll have the green one. Your task is to reach the top of that tower," she gestured to a looming structure nearby, "and use your gem to unlock a special scroll. Here's the catch: only one gem can unlock it, and I won't tell you which. The first to unlock the scroll will receive a significant reward. Remember, time is of the essence, so I suggest you move quickly." Her eyes gleamed with a hint of challenge as she handed out the gems, setting the stage for the test.

Horyu, after a brief moment of contemplation, turned to Hinata and Shino. "Let's climb the tower together," he proposed. "Whomever's gem opens the chest, wins. Fair and square."

Hinata nodded enthusiastically, her trust in Horyu evident. "I think that's a great idea, Horyu," she said. Shino, though less expressive, gave a curt nod of agreement, recognizing the practicality of Horyu's plan.

As they approached the tower, Horyu scanned the structure with his 'Observe' skill, noting potential traps and hidden mechanisms. The trio quickly realized the tower was laced with intricate puzzles, each requiring specific skills to navigate.

"Look, these symbols," Hinata pointed out, her Byakugan activated, revealing hidden chakra pathways. "They correspond to the colors of our gems."

"Indeed," Shino added, "And these traps, they seem designed to exploit our weaknesses. We must combine our strengths to proceed."

Horyu nodded, a plan forming in his mind. "Hinata, your Byakugan is key for detecting traps. Shino, your insects can scout ahead and manipulate mechanisms. I'll handle the physical obstacles."

As they ascended, they encountered a series of challenges. A room with floor tiles, each emitting a different chakra signature, required Hinata's Byakugan to navigate. Shino's insects disabled a series of pressure plates, preventing a barrage of kunai from triggering. Horyu's agility and taijutsu prowess allowed him to scale a wall too smooth for normal climbing.

Their synergy was evident, each member complementing the others' abilities. Horyu, with his strategic mind and array of skills, directed their efforts effectively.

At one point, Hinata hesitated at a puzzle that required precise chakra control. "I can't... it's too complex," she fretted.

Horyu glanced at the puzzle, a complex array of seals. "Hinata, focus. Remember your training. You can do this," he encouraged, not with warmth, but with firm confidence in her abilities.

With renewed determination, Hinata activated her chakra, manipulating the seals with precision, unlocking the next phase of their ascent.

As they reached the top, the trio was greeted by an unexpected sight—a chest with three slots. Shino, ever analytical, observed, "So, it requires all three." Hinata looked visibly nervous, her mind racing with the implications. She knew only one could claim the prize; did this mean they had to compete for the gems?

Horyu, perceptive as always, caught on to Hinata's apprehension. His voice was firm, yet carried an undertone of solidarity, "It seems like we need to use all three gems. I don't know if Kurenai-sensei wants us to fight against each other, but that goes against the Will of Fire. We are a team, and for now, we need to work together. I suggest we open the chest and share whatever reward we find."

Hinata's eyes widened slightly, a mix of relief and respect evident in her gaze. "I agree with Horyu," she said firmly. "We've come this far together. It wouldn't feel right to fight over the reward now."

Shino, ever the pragmatist, nodded in agreement. "A logical conclusion. Our combined efforts brought us here. It only makes sense to see this through as a team."

Together, they inserted their gems into the chest. There was a brief moment of silence before the chest clicked open, revealing a scroll.

As he unrolled the scroll, a system message appeared in Horyu's vision:

[System Message: Quest Completed - Synergy of Team 8. Reward: 500 exp, Badge of Team Captain, 1000 Ryo.]

At the same time, Kurenai appeared behind them. She took the scroll from Horyu, opening it to reveal a single word: "Teamwork." She smiled warmly at the trio. "So it was a test of teamwork," Hinata exclaimed, her eyes wide with realization.

Shino adjusted his glasses, his voice reflecting his analytical nature. "A clever way to assess whether we would succumb to selfish motives or stay united," he observed.

Kurenai nodded in agreement. "Yes, this was my test. In the world of Shinobi, where we often need to act mercilessly, it's rare to find people you can truly depend on and count on. It's important to see if you can count on your team. Some of us value teamwork more than individual talent. Congratulations, you've passed."

Hinata looked at Horyu, her smile reflecting both relief and gratitude. She was thankful for his suggestion to work together. Shino, usually reserved, showed a hint of respect towards Horyu.

Kurenai turned to Horyu. "You were an excellent team leader, Horyu. From now on, if I am not there, you are the Team Captain." Horyu's expression remained stoic, but a sense of pride flickered in his eyes. He glanced at the system message still shimmering in his vision. 'As always, the system is omniscient,' he thought.

"Thank you for your trust, Sensei. I will do my best," Horyu replied, his tone respectful yet firm.

Kurenai's mood then shifted as she addressed the team. "Since we passed the first test, let's celebrate."

Hinata's expression changed to one of dread. "First test?" she asked, her voice laced with anxiety.

Even Horyu, who usually maintained a facade of calm indifference, showed a flicker of surprise. In the series he knew, there was only one test.

Kurenai's expression grew serious. "The new Hokage-sama believes in cultivating strong Shinobi, we need to test them with blood," she stated, her tone grave.

A silence fell over the team as they processed this new information. The notion of a blood test was foreign to Horyu, but he quickly adapted his thinking to this new reality. It was a reminder of the unpredictable and often brutal world they lived in.

Horyu spoke up, his voice steady. "What exactly does this blood test entail, Sensei?"

Kurenai paused, her eyes scanning each of her students. "The details will be disclosed soon. But be prepared, it won't be easy. The test will push you to your limits, physically and mentally. It's designed to see if you can handle the harsh realities of being a Shinobi."

The trio left the training ground, each lost in their thoughts about the upcoming challenge. Horyu, though outwardly calm, was internally assessing every possible angle. He knew the importance of being prepared and adapting to any situation. His journey in this world, with its unexpected twists and turns, had taught him the value of being both strategically minded and ready for any challenge.

As they walked, Horyu's system interface blinked with a new notification:

[System Message: New Quest - Ruthless Blood Test

Description: Under the new doctrine of Hokage Uchiha Shisui, face the ruthless three-stage Blood Test to prove your worth as a Shinobi. This test will challenge your moral boundaries and combat prowess.

Objectives:

Hunt down harmless rabbits as your first test of resolve.

Track and eliminate three vicious beasts known for their ferocity and danger.

Engage in a final confrontation with a notorious bandit, where you must make the ultimate decision to kill.

Rewards: 1000 exp, Intermediate Jutsu Scroll(D-Rank), 2000 Ryo]

Horyu, upon seeing the mission, couldn't help but express his surprise, albeit internally. "Shisui's taking drastic measures," he mused to himself, his voice barely a whisper. "A blood test... It's harsh, but not unexpected in a Shinobi's life." He reflected on Naruto's first mission outside Konoha and the perils they had faced. In this world, mercy was indeed a luxury, a fact Horyu was well aware of. His experience in dungeons, fighting and killing numerous "students", had hardened him to this reality.

However, his thoughts quickly turned to Hinata. Her kindness and gentle nature were strengths, but in this brutal test, they could prove to be her downfall. 'I'll need to prepare her mentally for this,' he thought.

He glanced at the Badge of Team Captain he had just received, analyzing its effects.

[Badge of Team Captain
