The air hummed with the soft whirring of hovercars passing outside, while the walls were adorned with holographic displays showcasing the latest advancements in various fields of study. She finally arrived at her classroom, greeted by the familiar sight of her classmates seated at their desks, eagerly awaiting the start of the class.
However, the sight that froze her in her tracks was one she never expected. Among the sea of students, she saw a face that sent shivers down her spine - Willy, the boy she unintentionally killed. Her breath caught in her throat as she observed him cheerfully waving at her, a warm smile gracing his face. She couldn't believe her eyes; after all, she had seen him lifeless before her very eyes.
Cautiously, Emily approached his seat, her heart pounding with a mix of confusion and disbelief. "I had never meant to hurt Willy. We had been friends since we were kids. But I lost control of my hunger and attacked him. I don't remember much of what happened. I was horrified. I ran away and didn't tell anyone what had happened. I was Scared." Emily thought.
Willy's eyes lit up with excitement as he spoke to her, "Are you a vampire?" His tone was filled with curiosity, tinged with a touch of mischief.
Caught off guard by his question, Emily stammered, "W-what? No, I'm not..." Her voice trailed off as Willy interrupted her, his excitement was evident in his voice. His words spilled out rapidly, a torrent of newfound knowledge about mythical creatures.
"Hey, listen, I've been doing some serious research lately, and I've come across some fascinating stuff about mythical creatures," he began eagerly. "I've been learning about all sorts of beings and their unique characteristics. It's mind-blowing, really!"
His tone became more animated as he continued, barely giving her a chance to respond. "And, um, I stumbled upon something that made me wonder... You know, that time we were together, I remember...vividly, you sinking your teeth into my neck. It was like...like you took a chunk out of me!"
His voice trailed off, a mix of anxiety and curiosity seeping into his words. He tried to steady himself, his mind processing the possibilities. "I mean, I don't want to jump to conclusions, but according to my research, that bite... It could be a sign, you know? A sign that you might be a vampire."
Dumbfounded, Emily could only stare at him, her mind racing to make sense of this inexplicable situation. In a barely audible voice, she managed to ask, "But... how are you here? I thought... I thought I had killed you."
" I have a low-grade nanobot in my blood that stopped the bleeding," Willy explained. "And the doctors from Cyron found me in my car just a few miles outside the Edith portal. The doors were open. They treated me and joked that the beast that attacked me lost its appetite after a shallow bite."
Emily didn't know what to say. She was still in shock.
"I was a little bit angry with you at first," Willy said, his smile fading. "You bit me and then you disappeared. I didn't know what to do."
She felt a wave of guilt wash over her. "I'm so sorry, Willy," she said. "I had a lot going on in my mind at the time. I had an accident and woke up as a ghoul. I didn't know how to tell you."
Willy smiled again. "It's okay," he said. "I forgive you."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a data chip. "I sent you a file about ghouls," he said. "If you don't understand anything, we can look it up together."
Emily took the data chip and held it in her hand. She didn't know what to say. She was still overwhelmed by everything that had just happened.
The door slid open once again, and seeing that it was the teacher. The kids got into their seats and stopped their chatter. Their teacher was a skinny male who wore classes called Mr lond. Despite having a reputation for being very strict, everyone still respected him greatly.
He just knew the right way to deal with kids. When he entered the room, a student a few of them had seen before followed behind him.
She looked like a goddess. She had long, flowing hair the color of spun gold and brown, and her eyes were a deep blue that sparkled like sapphires. She was wearing a simple white dress that accentuated her slender figure, and her skin was flawless.
The students in the class gasped when they saw her. They had all heard about the mayor's daughter, who had been taking a break from school to prepare for a prestigious competition. But no one had expected her to be so beautiful.
The teacher, Mr. lond, smiled at the class. "Good morning, everyone," he said. "I'd like to re- introduce you to our student, Amy. She's the mayor's daughter, and she's just returned from her break, she's one of the favourite to win the Aurora Junior Artist Championship.. your very one Cheer leader and Class President."
The class erupted in applause. Amy smiled and waved.
Mr. lond continued. "Amy will be joining our class for the rest of the year. Please give her a warm welcome."
The students cheered again. Amy walked over to her desk, which was located in the back of the room. She sat down and pulled out a digital notebook.
The moment Emily saw this girl…Something strange started to happen, Amy smell was just as intoxicating as Daniel's and even more. her heart beat was slow.
She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.
She knew that she had to make a good impression on Amy.
Emily cleared her throat and raised her hand. "Mr. lond?" She said.
Mr. Iond looked at her. "Yes, Emily?"
"I just wanted to say welcome to Amy," Emily said. "I'm glad she's joined our class."
Amy looked up from her notebook and smiled at Emily. "Thank you," she said.
Emily smiled back. Her heart skipped a beat.
She knew that this was going to be a good year.
"You horny dog!" Willy commented, punching her on the shoulder. He had been watching her actions for a while now and noticed she kept staring at a certain someone in the room.
"Tom!" Mr lond shouted. "Are you really interrupting my class again? I know, as a punishment, once school ends, why don't you take Miss Amy and re-show her around before heading to your Club."
'Damn it, he's in one of those moods today,' Tom thought.
When the class had ended, it was the end of school lessons for the day, but there was still thirty minutes until they had to go to their compulsory club lessons after school.
"Hey, so do you want to come with me and take the new girl around the school for a bit, maybe you too can get to know each other?" Willy suggested, giving Emily a nudge while she packed her things.
"I'm sorry, but there's something else I need to do and I'm in a bit of a rush." Emily apologised, and before Willy could say anything else Emily had already left.
Emily needed to clear the misunderstanding, the rumors. " Everyone still whispering about me and Daniel. Just because he carried me when I was unconscious, saying that we had some kind of love affair."
Seeing his friend storm out of the room, Willy couldn't help but think Emily was acting weird. When turning to look at her desk, that's when he noticed something.
From both ends of the desk, the digital desk had been destroyed. It looked like it was done with someone's bare hand using their grip alone. But that wasn't possible, for a human at least.
******************
It was the end of the day, so Emily knew where Daniel would be_ he wouldn't be in the abandoned library cause it's Wednesday.
Everyone at their school was required to attend some extracurricular activity clubs. Since it was impossible to circumvent this mandatory requirement, Daniel had somehow talked the teachers into letting him create an Astrology Club. Unsurprisingly, he was the club's only member, but since he actually stayed at school for that period of time, the teachers left him be.
Opening the doors that led to the roof, Emily could see Daniel standing up against the surrounding outer fence, looking down at the school field. His black long dreads blew in the wind along with the dangly earring on his left ear.
It was as if Daniel was posing for a photo shoot. It didn't hurt that he totally had the looks to go with it as well. She felt her cheeks flush as she approached him.
"Can we talk?" she asked.
Daniel smiled. "Sure. But first, are you illegal? Royals don't allow your category to roam free. But your smell is different."
Before Emily could say anything else, Daniel was already in front of her. He held her by the neck and slammed her against the wall. His pupils turned glowing yellow with black outlines.
"What are you?"
Emily felt compelled to answer any question he asked.
[ You have be compelled by a Pristine Vampire ]
[ System has rejected foreign intrusion ]
Emily tried to understand the notification and mumbled the words. "pristine vampire."
Daniel stepped back. " hahahaha you can't be sent to kill me when you don't know what I am. Well, you just remembered. So, I'm guessing your category forget easily. So, what are you?"
[ Darla anyone ask you that question always remember you are a just a ghoul... If you want to stay alive ]
I... I'm a ghoul. Emily stammered
Daniel puts his hands into his pocket and brought out a cigarette. "You smell different, and you have no heart. I thought I killed you on the field. puffing on his cigarette. "Since we're both supernatural, we should be friends, right?
Daniel stretched out his hands offering her a handshake.
Emily shook hands with Daniel, her face even redder. She mumbled "friends." When she lets go, her comm vibrated
Daniel smiled. " I just sent you my number "
Daniel waved Emily off, as he walked back to look down on the school field.
But.... about the rumors. Emily asked.
" My lawyers are working on it."
Leaving the roof, Emily rushed off to prepare for her own club activities. Turning around, she briefly saw Daniel smile at her.
"So Amy are you really sure you should be in school I thought you took a break to prepare for the Aurora Junior Artist Championship?" Daniel asked.
From behind the roof's storage room, a girl with gold and brown hair stepped forward. "No doubt about it. She is definitely illegal.
Hearing the response, Daniel grin got even wider. "It sounds like this is going to be an exciting year."
