Chapter 34 - Demons' Desires (20)

Hearing Asha's curse and realizing what she was doing, Xarakas quickly composed himself as best as he could before returning to her side, gripping her hands tightly as he attempted to keep her from hurting herself any further.

"Asha, Asha, look at me. You have to stop. You're about a hair away from slicing through the arteries in your legs, and if that happens, I won't be able to stop the bleeding or get help. So you have to stop, alright? Here, you can squeeze my arms instead, I can take it, just stop hurting yourself," he insisted desperately, calling on his demon's strength as well as some of his stocks to help him pry her hands away from her legs, holding onto her wrists with one hand while he desperately tried to stop the bleeding with his other.

Distracted as she was, attempting to keep her demon at bay, Asha remained acutely aware of Xarakas as he returned to her side, which only seemed to prompt her demon to fight her harder.

She snarled at him and attempted to shoulder him away, hoping he would be smart enough to retreat, fought him as he tried to pull her hands away from her legs, but he won in the end, managing to pin her, albeit at the price of her demon emerging further. She thrashed under him in an attempt to free herself, growling her displeasure at him as she snarled, "Mine!"

And that was what Katze entered the room to, having come to see what was holding Asha when the princess could usually be counted on to be prompt. She'd knocked first, of course, then when she'd heard growls instead of answer, had let herself in, though she was quick to shut the door and lock it behind her as she took in the scene unfolding: both Asha and Xarakas nude, both partially transformed, Asha being restrained, both bloody—even the mark Asha now bore on her breast.

"Xarakas, leave the wound to me. You have to calm her down," Katze commanded when she'd gathered her wits enough to take charge of the situation.

"I won't be able to get near either of you until she's calm. Her demon wants to claim you, so you need to pacify it. Reassure it that you belong to her, kiss her, hold her close. Anything you can do to show her demon that you're hers without letting it mark you. Don't stop immediately when Asha starts coming back. It isn't safe to stop until her eyes turn blue again."

Xarakas did his best to keep Asha's hands pinned while he attempted to help her, desperately trying to reason with her and keep her calm. "Asha, Asha please. you have to stop. You have to calm down. Please, just listen to me," he spoke, looking up in shock as he heard the queen at the door, nearly giving Asha an opportunity to overpower him, but he quickly regained focus, nodding as the queen instructed him on what to do.

Was he terrified that she'd kill him as soon as he managed to calm Asha down? Of course, but he understood that calming Asha down and making sure that she was alright was well worth the cost of his life.

So he did as the queen instructed, ceasing his attempts to stop her bleeding to caress her cheek, attempting to force her to look at him. "Asha, Asha, look at me," he attempted to soothe, pressing a deep kiss to her lips in the hopes of calming her.

"I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere, alright? I know that I marked you and that you want to mark me, but you can't right now, but that doesn't mean that I'm not yours, alright? I'm yours, and I'm not going to go anywhere."

He kept his voice low, not necessarily wanting Katze to hear him speak, resting his forehead lightly against Asha's as he did what he could to calm her.
