Chapter 35 - Demons' Desires (21)

Asha's demon had a strong hold by this point, putting her past the point of being reasoned with as she tried to break Xarakas's hold, only showing the first signs of calming once he started to reassure her and kiss her.

Her growls and snarls lessened with a little time, the sound cautiously shifting to something closer to a purr as she stopped attempting to escape his grasp and instead started to kiss him back.

Katze, who had been watching quietly, crept near while Asha was distracted, then pressed two fingers to the back of the hybrid's neck and sent a pulse of energy that rendered the princess unconscious. Breathing a sigh of relief, she moved to inspect Asha's leg, finding the punctures deep but not dangerous, and once she'd healed them, she turned to Xarakas.

"You can relax. Asha will be perfectly fine. She should wake before dinner, fully healed. And you don't have to worry about me either." She offered him a little smile, motioning for him to give him her hand. "Let me heal you as well. Then we'll clean this blood off Asha, replace her bedding, and you'll need to clean up and dress as well. I'll tell Shax she's indisposed for the evening. He always becomes suddenly uninterested at the mention of feminine troubles."

Xarakas had to fight to keep his demon under control as the queen incapacitated Asha, his demon not understanding that knocking his mate unconscious was actually for the best.

He was quick to step back and allow the queen to work on healing the princess, standing awkwardly to the side while he waited to both make sure that Asha was alright and for Katze to deliver whatever punishment she was sure to give him for getting into this mess in the first place, bowing his head respectfully and apologetically as she finally turned to him.

"Your Majesty, I... I'm so sorry," he apologized, looking up at her in surprise as she claimed that he wouldn't have to worry about her, hesitating a moment before offering her his hand so that she could heal it.

"I.. You're not angry?" he asked hesitantly as she explained what they'd need to do, glancing back at Asha and the mark he'd branded onto her skin, forcing himself to look away after a moment.

"When she wakes up, if the king finds out... They'll kill me. And I'd deserve it. I don't understand what happened, I had my demon under control, and then the next thing I knew I'd lost it.. Wastes, she didn't want this. Doesn't want this. Doesn't want me, not really. I'll help tend to her, and clean up the mess that I've made, but perhaps.. Perhaps it would be better if Asha found a different combat instructor to finish her training."
