Chereads / Journey Of Ben Tennyson / Chapter 24 - Ethan Frost Tennyson

Chapter 24 - Ethan Frost Tennyson

After enjoying it with Elizabeth, Ben was ready to meet his wife Emma.

Together with Amelia, Mariam, and Elizabeth, Ben arrived at the gate of Emma and Ethan's villa. There he rang the bell, and waited for someone to open the gate.

Meanwhile Emma from inside was coming towards the gate, "Who ring our doorbell? Maybe Ethan has returned, but why he rings the bell, he can come inside directly."

While thinking, she opens the gate. But as soon as she saw the face of the visitor. She first became shocked. But then she leaped into Ben's embrace, tears streaming down her face. This unexpected reunion stirred deep and powerful feelings within her.

Sitting in Ben's lap, Emma poured out her heart, recounting the fifteen years of her life from 1968 to 1983. "You know, my King, it was really painful to live without you. It was also very challenging to raise our son without his father."

"It's okay. I am here to share the pain with you," Ben consoled her, offering comforting kisses to ease her distress.

"When I went to save Raven, many humans attacked me, but I managed to defeat them. Then, an elite group of humans attacked us when Ethan was still a kid. We took care of it. As Ethan gained control over his powers, we convinced the USA government not to disturb us," Emma explained, sharing the trials, challenges, and moments of her journey during that time.

"How is our son?" Ben Inquired about Ethan.

"Well, he has some personality and interests that are just like yours. The path he has chosen seems to mirror yours. He even started captivating many young girls with his charismatic charm," Emma gave a brief about Ethan's personality.

While Emma was being caressed and comforted by Ben, their tender moment was abruptly shattered by the sudden arrival of an angry Ethan. He was full of an angry mood.

"Who are you, and how dare you hurt my mom?" Ethan shouted, one hand wreathed in fire, the other covered in ice. He strode toward Ben, showcasing his fiery and icy powers in full display.

"Ethan, you need to hear first," Emma tried to interject, but her words were cut short as Ethan interrupted her. "Don't worry, Mom, I'll teach this guy a lesson!" he shouted, unleashing a fiery punch aimed at Ben.

Before Ethan's fiery fist could make contact with Ben, he found himself gently held in his place. His flames, whoever even capable of melting iron in seconds, had no effect on Ben—not even singeing a hair on his hand.

Ben easily halted Ethan's fiery punch by catching his fist, lifting him slightly, and then gently tossing him a short distance while offering advice. "Kid, you need to control your temper."

Ignoring Ben's words, Ethan swiftly responded by forming vines from his hands, attempting to capture Ben. "Let's see how you dodge this," Ethan shouted.

However, Ben effortlessly caught the vines and used them to toss Ethan multiple times. Determined to gauge the extent of Ethan's abilities, he encouraged, "Show me, kid. I really want to test your capabilities now."

"I'll show you!" Ethan shouted, demonstrating remarkable speed as he circled around Ben. His Speed even surpassed Quicksilver, the Speedster son of Magneto. Transforming his hands into diamond, Ethan delivered a high-speed punch aimed at Ben's face.

But once again, Ben effortlessly caught Ethan's diamond-clad fist and slammed him onto the ground, bringing his high-speed assault to a halt.

"Looks like you need more training, kid," he remarked, awaiting Ethan's next moves.

Ethan found himself in a dilemma as his inherited powers proved ineffective against Ben. Despite his attempts, he couldn't bring any little harm to Ben. He has gained many abilities from both his father and mother, but that all seemed to have limited impact on Ben.

His inherited powers, including Fire, Ice, Trees and Vines, Speedster, and Diamond, appeared futile against Ben's unmatched prowess.

Left with the remaining powers—swimming in water, regeneration, becoming sluggish, and flying—Ethan realized they were irrelevant in the current land-based fight. The only option left was metal control.

Then he focused on the various weapons in the room, using his metal control to launch them at Ben. However, to his dismay, all the weapons fell to the ground before reaching their target.

"You are quite useless, kid. It's really a shame for me," Ben remarked casually as he gently placed Emma on the bed and then approached Ethan.

Despite the apparent odds, Ethan remained resolute. "So what if I don't have the power to kill you?" he shouted. "I won't let you harm my mom."

"Good, good! This is the passion I need. With this passion, I will turn your worthlessness into a powerful weapon," Ben commended Ethan's courage.

"Why have you come to harm us? What have we done to you?" Ethan inquired, seeking to understand the motives of the powerful figure before him.

Emma, sensing Ethan's distress, approached him, lifted him up, and embraced him in her arms. "Calm down, my dear, calm down," she reassured him. "Ben hasn't come to harm us."

In the safety of his mother's embrace, Ethan's tears flowed freely. Despite the facade of strength, he was still a child, and being mutants meant their lives were very challenging.

After some time, once he had poured out his pent-up emotions, Ethan whispered, "Mom, who is he?" Realizing that Ben wasn't there to harm them, he sought to understand the identity of this remarkably powerful individual who had rendered him helpless.

Emma tightly hugged Ethan and revealed, "His name is BenTennyson."

The moment Ethan heard the name, realization dawned upon him. Throughout his life, he had only known his mother, and the mystery surrounding the identity of his father had fueled his curiosity. The name Ben Tennyson carried significant weight. Ethan Frost Tennyson was, in fact, the son of BenTennyson.

Ethan's emotional whirlwind, once calmed by the revelation, soon led to an outburst. Overwhelmed by a surge of emotions, he ran toward Ben, striking his chest repeatedly in a childlike tantrum.

Understanding the need for catharsis, Ben allowed Ethan to express his feelings, enduring the punches with patience.

After a few moments of hitting and a torrent of tears, Ethan transitioned from anger to a heartfelt hug with Ben. His emotions once again overwhelmed him, and Ben's shirt became soaked with his tears.

In the aftermath, Ethan began to share the injustices he felt as a child who had grown up without a father's presence. He spoke of the simple joys he missed out on—playing with his father, receiving birthday gifts, and having a father accompany him on travels. Each complaint was heartfelt, tugging at Ben's heartstrings.

As Ethan poured out his grievances, Ben listened attentively, sensing a profound helplessness within himself. The weight of his past actions, or rather, the lack of responsible actions, pressed heavily on his conscience.

Beng instead of admitting his shortcomings as a father to Ethan, started scolding him, "Have you ever truly felt injustice? Injustice, do you even comprehend its weight?"

"While other children dream of ice cream, you wield the power of ice. While kids engage in mundane games, you can soar through the skies and navigate the depths of the ocean."

Ethan, momentarily taken aback, contemplated Ben's words. However, he countered, "But other kids receive gifts from their fathers." This observation felt like a small victory to Ethan.

Ben responded with intensity, "Gifts? Do you think trivial toys are gifts? While others receive meaningless trinkets, I've bestowed upon you ten incredible powers. What holds more value, worthless toys or extraordinary abilities?" He argued, attempting to rationalize his actions as a father.

However, Ben's justifications for his absence left everyone, including Ethan, Emma, Amelia, Mariam, and Elizabeth, in a state of disbelief. It became evident that these explanations fell short in justifying Ben's role as a father.

Ethan thought hard about how to convey his feelings of injustice regarding his father. Finally, he expressed, "But, Dad, other kids get to live with their fathers. They receive kisses and hugs to build strong bonds with their fathers." This was his last attempt to express his injustice.

However, Ben brushed off these concerns. "Stop fixating on trivial matters. You are a Tennyson, and that means you need to mature faster than other children. It's a family duty. Anyone born into the Tennyson family has to learn to be independent."

He was aware that he was providing excuses while also deciding to create a Tennyson family rule. "I believe you've received plenty of love from your mother, and it's filled your head with nonsense. From now on, you'll need to spend two years on your own and travel the world."

Ethan was left utterly speechless. While he felt he was facing injustice, his father's words indicated that he had received more love than others. Seeking help and support from his mother, he struggled to comprehend how this could be true.

"My King, Ethan, is just a child. How will he manage to live without me?" Emma attempted to sway Ben's decision, standing from the bed and moving toward them.

However, Ben forcefully placed her back on the bed and redirected his attention to Ethan. "Kid, my decision is final. Now, prepare everything you need for your survival. Get out of the bedroom," he ordered, expelling Ethan from the room.

Ethan found himself kicked out of the bedroom, grappling with the complexity of his father's logic. Despite his confusion, he headed to the supermarket to purchase the essentials needed for his upcoming solo journey.
