Chapter 3 - Like alive silver

The leader of the foreigners was very tall and Erin still remembered the marked muscles he had displayed in the swimming competition. His entire body seemed hard and invulnerable. A warning of that strength could be seen in the broad shoulders and long, energetic limbs, now covered by leather and pieces of metal. Then he had that face, designed to chain glances. True to be said: the man had a remarkably beautiful face, there was no other definition. In fact, Erin had never met a more beautiful woman. Then he looked up and his silver eyes met her gaze.

Dum, dum, dum! The sound of her heart. It was like everyone could hear it. Darn! Erin froze, though her shock didn't stop her from scowling at the stranger. For a few seconds, Ahian's gaze seemed like that of a cat stalking a mouse. A second later, his expression became unfathomable.

It was at that moment that Erin realized she was afraid of him. She was scared of the foreigner.

The discovery struck her with its certainty and made her look away. Erin was about to lose her balance when she tried to take a step, immersed in thoughts. ¿But why? She didn't understand it well. It was like something innate. Still racking her brain, Erin raised her face to see that he was still looking at her. Those eyes were like living silver. This time, she strangely felt like a prey. As if he was indeed hunting her down and had her completely cornered. What on earth? Then Ahian smiled slightly without changing his gaze. And that was the end of Erin's resolve cause she turned around and began to make her way home.

Coward... She condemned herself. Yes, Erin was ashamed of herself, yet she couldn't stop running away. It didn't matter, what she needed most at that moment was to put distance between herself and that cryptic and dangerous smile. Dangerous… He, all of them were a threat.

She was going straight home. Tomorrow, she would explain it to her mother. Or better, her mother didn't have to find out. Nothing would happen to Rubí. After all, they were both adults.

Thinking like this, without looking back, Erin continued to advance. Soon, she was about to reach the avenue of torches. She was sweating under her coat but, she felt more relaxed as the distance between her and the beach increased. The sound of the drums was barely a whisper when the rustling of some bushes almost made her chest explode with a jolt. Erin had barely managed to suppress a scream. She immediately recognized that she was paranoid. There was no danger. Nothing was dangerous in their little village. However, despite that reasoning, all her senses were alarmed. So, without further thinking, Erin started running.

A couple of minutes passed before, embarrassed by her behavior, Erin decided to stop her run. However, just as she was about to adjust her speed, an arm out of nowhere wrapped around her under the abdomen, stopping her in her tracks.

With a scream, she bounced against a rock-like body. Her lips were immediately silenced by a robust hand.

"Anyway…" Her captor said, echoing some of her last words just some minutes ago. "You saved me work by coming here."

¿Darek? ¿Why? Erin thought before noticing a strange aroma threatening to suffocate her, and immediately, she lost consciousness.
