Chapter 25 - Arriving with Sincerity

Lisa didn't go to school, instead she explained the situation to Joseph. She wanted to know what was going on with Elizabeth. Joseph agreed with her, making a call to the school and even sending an email to request a leave. Asking for a leave wasn't tough for Lisa, as long as she completed enough school credits.

She rode her bike to Elizabeth's house, and from a distance, she could see Elizabeth's home was in ruins as if assailed by a tornado, especially the massive hole in the roof.

"Oh my God, Elizabeth, what happened?" Lisa asked Elizabeth who was approaching her, "Goodness, what on earth is going on?"

Elizabeth just shrugged and said, "David? Gustin, you might be surprised to hear his name, but… indeed, he did this. That damn guy."

"What exactly happened? Did he declare war on you? It's like World War III," Lisa stuttered. The sight in front of her was truly staggering.

"Because he's just like me, not a normal human," Elizabeth had nothing to hide from Lisa, "In retaliation for what happened yesterday, he revealed his true form last night, intending to teach us a lesson, or turn us into vampires like him."

"What? Vampires, you say? My God… how is that possible?" Lisa covered her mouth, but soon fell silent, only staring wide-eyed at Elizabeth. If she could accept that Elizabeth was a werewolf, why would it be strange that David? Gustin was a vampire?

But no matter what, she found it hard to believe. After all, too many things had happened beyond her imagination in the past two days. She laughed and shook her head at Elizabeth, "Alright, I don't know how to perceive the world anymore. It's as if I'm living in a Hollywood movie. Everything... is real."

"But everything is indeed real," Elizabeth replied with a bitter smile, "We have to move now, they have found us, but we wanted to live a peaceful life, blending into society just like humans."

"No, you are, you don't need to blend in, you are, Elizabeth, I'm your friend, we are no different. It's always been like this, and it will always be!" Lisa wrapped her arm around Elizabeth's shoulder, "Do we really have to leave? Isn't there another way?"

"I think…yes, if the vampires reveal our whereabouts, we will be hunted by both humans and vampires. We don't want to be prey, Lisa, I know you consider Elizabeth as a good friend, we are grateful, but … there will always be a day of parting, won't there?" Came the voice of Mr. kort, who was walking towards them from the villa.

He nodded at Lisa, his expression somber, "Unless they promise…" He suddenly paused, his ears perked up as if hearing something.

Yes, he felt something approaching them. He turned his head towards the dilapidated villa and called out, "Hey, Sana, find anything?" He was cautious, having set up a high-powered telescope on the damaged roof last night to observe the surroundings.

"A car is coming our way, a large Cadillac—"

Sana yelled from the rooftop.

"Are you sure it's not the police or some army tank or something? But a Cadillac?" Mr. kort asked again.

"Yes, my eyes are still working well, I didn't see it wrong, if nothing unexpected happens, they will be here in ten minutes. Yes, if they're coming for us," Sana mumbled.

"I'll get the gun!" Mr. kort rushed to the other house still intact, grabbed the double-barreled shotgun from yesterday, checked the bullets, then loaded it. He turned to Lisa and said, "You'd better leave. Let Elizabeth take you away. I can't guarantee what will happen next…"

"Yes, Lisa, come with me! I'll get you out of here, you can't get involved." Elizabeth told Lisa, "Quick, follow me!" As she headed towards the garage. The garage was intact and housed three cars, one of them was Elizabeth's BMW.

"No, Elizabeth, I can't…" Lisa suddenly grabbed Elizabeth's hand, "I can't just leave like this. You're my friend, and I know I might not be able to help, but… I can get someone to help. You forgot I know a guy, you know who!"

Elizabeth was taken aback, and then blurted out a name: "Jason? Mr. Jason? My God—how… how did you think of him? God, he always gives me an oppressive feeling. Are you sure he will help us?"

Mr. Jason, this name suddenly popped into Elizabeth's head, and with it, the image of that man. Yes, that was a formidable fellow, causing fear and dread, even without making a move, one could feel the mountain-like pressure he exuded.

"No, no, it's not possible, he won't help us!" Elizabeth shook her head quickly, she always felt that a person like Mr. Jason, not wiping them out was already a huge fortune. How could he possibly help them?

"No, listen to me, Jason once said that you are a very good friend, very sincere to people." Lisa insisted, "What does this mean? This means that he approves of you, I promise, he means no harm to you. If he wanted to, he could have already harmed you, right?"

"Do we still have time to call now?" Elizabeth felt that Lisa's words made sense, having someone's help was always better than fighting alone. Especially if they were outnumbered.

"Of course, I'll make the call, you guys try to buy some time!" Lisa said and gave Elizabeth an OK gesture, then waved her hand, telling Elizabeth to hurry back, while she took out her phone.

Sure enough, a Cadillac arrived at Mr. kort's house ten minutes later. The car door opened, and three people got out. One of them… even if he didn't show his sharp fangs, Mr. kort could recognize him. It was David? Gustin, the young man who had provoked them last night. "Hey, halt! This is private property." Mr. Kort called out to the three figures who had stepped up to his front gate. He brandished his double-barreled shotgun for emphasis. "Don't come any closer. I assure you, you'll regret it."

The trio halted abruptly. An elderly gentleman stepped forward and addressed Mr. Kort, "Mr. Kort, I believe there has been some misunderstanding. We come in peace..."

"Don't come any closer! Just spit out your so-called peace offering from there. I can hear perfectly well, I'm not that old yet!" Mr. Kort retorted sarcastically. The elder gentleman didn't take the bait, instead he simply nodded politely and stood his ground.

"Mr. Kort, I've come to apologize!" The elderly man stated, "My name is Robin? Gustin, David is my grandson. I am aware that he's done some infuriating things, however... we were not informed. I am here to apologize and seek a truce."

"You came here for peace?" Mr. Kort didn't lower his shotgun, but his resolve was wavering, "How can you assure me that you indeed seek peace? Be aware that last night... my house looked as if it were under a barrage of cannon fire. Look at my home—"

Indeed, his home had been left in ruins.

"I understand. It's all David's fault, as well as ours. Why not let us explain inside? We need mutual trust. If we were to engage in battle, do you truly believe that this distance, or this fence will protect you?" Robin? Gustin countered.

Mr. Kort pursed his lips, his resolve wavering once more. Finally, after a moment's hesitation, he lowered the shotgun and gestured with the muzzle, "Come in then. You have two minutes to explain."

As the shotgun was lowered, Robin? Gustin and the two others approached. Elizabeth glared at David, on high alert, but strangely, David didn't have his usual defiant look. Instead, he looked rather downcast, not even meeting Elizabeth's eyes.

"I got through! He said he'd come!" Lisa suddenly emerged from her hiding spot, exclaiming excitedly to Elizabeth, "We... oh my god, they're coming in?"
