Chapter 36 - Silas of the Black Lotus

(Some Years Ago)

Gasping awake, Silas sat upright swiftly looking around worriedly. His eyes fell on the empty cupboard where his little sister was hidden away from the intruders who came to wipe them away. He hurriedly stood up and made his way there. He checked and confirmed it was empty.

His heart rate increased, panicking as he began a full search of the house, hoping to find his baby sister lying somewhere peacefully and unharmed. He swept the whole house and came up empty, safe for his parents' bodies that were laying lifeless on the living room floor.

Silas fell down on his knees next to his parents bodies with a shattered heart and a heart full of self loathing. He was sad but more angry, angry at himself for not being able to protect his baby sister. In the midst of his self loathing, he felt a sharp pain across his eye. He felt it with his finger and realized he had a scar there.

He was surprised how he hadn't felt the pain since he woke up. He was so worried about the safety of his sister that the pain from the claw mark wasn't registering. He knew it wasn't going to heal. After all he was just a seven year old boy who hasn't gotten his wolf yet. It was going to leave a mark for life, that he knew for sure.

Panting heavily whilst dropping down to his knees, Silas wiped the bead of sweat off his forehead. He had managed to drag his parents' bodies out to the garden and bury them as best as he could for a seven year old.

Kneeling in front of both their graves, he couldn't hold back the tears any longer. He broke down, sobbing, letting the tears flow. "Cowards...." He muttered softly amidst sobs. "Cowards!!!" He then yelled out.

He was pissed about how they cowardly attacked his clan. He knew if there had been given a fighting chance, then he probably wouldn't have had to bury his parents with his own hands and lost his cherished sister.

He tilted his head toward the ground, taking a handful of the dirt on his parents'grave, tears dripping down on the back of his hand. "I'm going to get her back mom, dad.....I....I promise. I won't let you down. You told me to always protect her....I will..." He promised amidst tear-jerking cries whilst balling his hand into a fist.

(Eleven Years Later)

Standing beside a red truck parked outside the bar he had been scouting, Silas glanced up at the sky and the fast forming dark clouds. It was evident it was going to rain soon. He shifted his attention back to the wolves inside the bar.

This was the third town he's been to. The next pack on his list that he had tracked down since he had gotten his wolf. He had tried to survive and get as strong as he could over the years until he's gotten his wolf so he could carry out his promise successfully.

Now it's been two years since he made his first shift. And ever since that night, he had embark on his mission to track down the men that ended his family and took his little sister. It's been hard trying to track them down. He had no information about what pack exactly or who those men were. All he heard that day was that one of them was an Alpha. So he's been tracking down every pack that he's been finding out was involved that night.

He waited some more, staring at them through the glass door before making his way inside. The eyes he got when he walked through the door was not unusual to him. It was the same look he got everywhere he went to that wolves reside in every pack. A look you get when you don't belong somewhere.

Silas ignored their eyes and made his way straight to the counter where the bartender was standing, staring at him with the same look. "You don't belong in here kid" The bartender blurted out as soon as Silas got to the counter.

"Don't worry, I'm not here for the alcohol. I know the rules" He replied.

"Then why are you here? For the music?" The bartender teased

"I want information, that's all" Silas replied

"What information does a kid want in a bar?"

"This is Graywood pack right?" He inquired with a low voice.

"That's right. Do you have any problem with the pack or it's members?"

"No. I just want to know if the Alpha has any daughters or adopted daughter or maybe a stray girl he brought to the pack?" He asked with a serious expression.

"Hmm...why exactly would you want to know that...stranger?"

"I can't say exactly" Silas replied

"Then I don't have an answer for you kid. Beat it" The bartender replied.

"I see....well, thank you for your time" He concluded and walked away, not sparing anyone in the bar a glance.

Silas stepped out of the bar and began to carry out his next plan, to try and locate the Alpha's house himself. He made his way to the alley that was by the corner of the bar, trying to find his way back to where he came from and that's when he sensed their presence and caught their scent.

He turned just in time to see three mean looking wolves coming up behind him. "Come here kid" One of them called, dropping his cigarette on the floor and quenching it with his boot. The other two downed the beer directly from the beer bottles in their hand simultaneously and they threw away the bottles.

Silas glanced at both sides of the alley to make sure no one else was there and then brought his gaze back to the hippies. "Can I help you?" Silas questioned calmly.

"Oh! Isn't that funny!!" The one that seemed to be the leader laughed and the others joined in. "We should be asking that question kid....why are you asking questions about our pack and Alpha Ammon?"

"I barely wish to get information that would help me" He replied.

"Help you how?" The leader asked, standing in front of him while the other two went ahead and stood behind him.

"I can't tell you that"

"Then I'm afraid we can't let you leave" The leader replied with a smirk.

"Three against one. Isn't that a cowardly move. How can you call yourselves men when you don't have any honour? Cowards like you are the reason why all what happened, happened..." Silas stated angrily.

The three men stared at one another in awe, confused about what he was rambling on about. The leader began laughing again. "This kid got balls" He laughed and then immediately frowned, his eyes glowing yellow. "But we still can't let you leave" He added just as the others' eyes began glowing too.

"I can't stand the sight of cowards" Silas gave a low growl, his eyes glowing red. He saw the shock on the leader's face but he didn't give him time to register it, he swiftly closed the little gap between them and ripped out his throat in one swift motion.

The other two Betas glanced at each other, wondering what kind of outstanding speed he had. Not wanting to be caught off guard like their leader, they both simultaneously dashed toward him, claws and fangs out. But they met the shock of their lives when their claws and fangs retracted as soon as they got to where he was.

Silas immediately took the opportunity he created and punched into the chest of the first one forcefully, grabbed his heart and pulled it out in one swift motion. He then quickly grabbed the other, sank his fangs into his neck, ripped his artery and then snapped his neck.

He let go off the body and watched it drop on the floor, lifeless like the others. Rain just then started falling, getting more intense by the second. He stared at the bodies and then shook his head. "Pathetic" He commented then wiped the blood off his lips. He glanced at both sides to make sure no one saw before walking away.

(Some Years Later)

Standing at a safe distance from the pack settlement in the woods, Silas watched on as the members of the pack moved around oblivious of his presence. He knew the Alpha, Alpha Damon. He was able to discover his identity and track down the third settlement of their pack. He had gone to the other two and it was a bust.

Sure that the Alpha might be present at the last settlement, there he was, waiting patiently for the Alpha to show himself. It's been half an hour and he still hasn't shown himself but Silas was determined to wait for as long as it would take. After all he had waited years already. He was as patient as a being can be.

He sighed, leaning against a huge tree. It was getting dark already. He brought up a finger and began tracing it along the scar across his eye. The claw mark had healed to become a permanent scar that went vertically across his eye. It was more than a scar for him now. It was a scar that reminded him of his promise and mission.

Just when he was drifting into thoughts, his eyes fell on Alpha Damon who just strolled out the cabin at the middle of the settlement. Silas felt a relief in his heart. He was about to make a move when someone grabbed his arm, stopping him.

He swiftly turned with his claws already out and eyes glowing. His hand with the claw was held midair by the stranger that had stopped him. "Slow down. I'm not your enemy" The stranger said with a calm voice.

Silas was not ready to trust this mystery person just yet. After all he had a mask and a hood on, hiding his identity. "Who are you?" Silas asked, surprised he wasn't able to pick up on the scent or footsteps of this mystery person.

He let go of Silas' hands and then took off his hood. "My name is Kreed" He introduced, proceeding to take off his mask. "The leader of the Black Lotus"

Silas stared at him with furrowed brows. "And what is it you want with me? Or are you with them?"

"No we are not with them. I'm here to offer you what you want? I know who you are. I know what you want. But going about it alone isn't going to pan out the way you want. No matter how strong you are, you can't take on a pack on your own" Kreed explained

"Of course I know that" Silas replied

"Then don't throw your life away, when at the end you won't even accomplish your goal. We the Black Lotus are a group that wants the same thing you want. Vengeance and retribution. We can help you achieve what you desire most and together we can get the justice our clan deserves"

"Our clan?" Silas asked with a questioning look.

"Yes, our clan. We are from the Direwolf clan also. And we have to bring in all of us that is left and make them feel the same pain they've caused us. What do you say?" Kreed offered, his face devoid of emotions.

Silas glanced back at the pack settlement, his eyes on Alpha Damon. He stared for a while and then shifted his attention back to Kreed. "I have terms of my own. I have someone I have to find" He stated

"Very well then. Let's go. Give me the details of your terms on the way" Kreed concluded and turned, walking away.

Silas sighed, placing his hand on his scar. "I'm coming sister. Hold on just a little longer" He muttered before following Kreed's footsteps.
