Chapter 25 - Duel

"Boom!"

The ground trembled as the holy knight's radiant blade strike Baron force, the impact sent shockwaves rippling through the slum district, shattering windows and tossing debris into the air.

the clash of light and darkness painted the sky in a mesmerizing dance of conflicting energies.

Elara, perched on a rooftop, felt the very air crackle with power as the opposing forces collided.

From her vantage point, she saw the holy knight, his armor gleaming like a beacon in the chaos, leading the charge against Baron force.

On the ground, Roland, use his shield to block the strikes from holy knight while maintaining a defensive stance. The clash of weapons echoed through the narrow streets of the slum district.

Elara continued her precise archery from the rooftop, aiming for strategic targets, Her arrows disrupted the coordinated attacks, providing crucial support to the ground forces. She called out to Roland. "Hold your ground, Roland! We'll find a way to break their attack!"

Roland nodded, his shield taking the brunt of the holy knight's attack. "Find their weakness quickly, I cannot hold this for long."

As Roland defended against the holy knight's attacks, he also observed the ongoing battle. The possessed citizens, driven by chaotic energy, continued their relentless assault on both the mayor's forces and Baron Gareth's soldiers.

'We will all die if we remain in a passive state.' Sir William trying to find a way to turn the tide of the battle.

He signaled a group of his soldiers to flank the holy knight from the side, attempting to disrupt their coordinated attacks and create an opening for a counterattack.

The mage advisors under Mayor Eldric use their spell, but it's useless Baron force ignore their magic spell because they already resist to magic attack especially when their magic is low level spell.

Elara trying aim attack priest Samuel killing their support would severely weaken the opposition. She focused her aim on the holy priest, knowing that eliminating their support could turn the tide of the battle.

Her arrows flew with deadly precision, aiming for the vulnerable spots in the priest's defenses. However, as the arrows closed in, a protective barrier of light surrounded the holy priest, deflecting Elara's attacks.

The priest, sensing the danger, raised his staff and chanted a protective incantation. "By the power of the Light, shield me from the darkness that seeks to consume!"

Elara's arrows were repelled by the radiant barrier, forcing her to reevaluate her strategy. She needed to find a way to pierce through the defenses and neutralize the support provided by the holy priest.

Mayor Eldric orders the mercenaries to attack the rangers on the baron's troops. "Kill that ranger on the rooftop! We need to eliminate their ranged support!" Mayor Eldric shouted commands to the mercenaries under his control.

The mercenaries, armed with bows and crossbows, aimed their projectiles at Elara. As the arrows and bolts whistled through the air, Elara agilely dodged and rolled, narrowly evading the deadly projectiles.

On the ground, Sir William noticed the mercenaries targeting Elara.

"Tsk, they're trying to take out our ranged support" Sir William, infused with chaotic energy, swung his sword in a wide arc, releasing a burst of dark energy that surged toward the mercenaries. The chaotic energy collided with their arrows and bolts, disrupting their trajectory and causing them to veer off course.

The mercenaries, taken aback by the unexpected counterattack, scrambled to reassess the situation. Some of them shifted their focus back to the ground battle, while others continued attempting to eliminate Elara.

Elara, recognizing the danger, adjusted her position on the rooftop. She continued to provide cover fire for Roland and the ground forces, her arrows aiming to create openings in the enemy ranks.

The battle in the slum district intensified as chaotic and holy energies clashed. Baron Gareth's forces, Mayor Eldric's mercenaries, and the Church of Light engaged in a chaotic struggle for control. The possessed citizens, caught in the crossfire, exhibited both eerie resilience and ferocity.

The Holy Knight and Sir William locked eyes amidst the chaos. "Hmph your dark powers won't save you from the righteous judgment of the Light," proclaimed the holy knight.

Sir William, filled with chaotic energy, grinned. "Righteous judgment? Your light will not save you from the dead."

A roar of defiance ripped through the already-shattered sky as Sir William, cloaked in swirling shadows, met the Holy Knight's righteous charge head-on. His blade, a jagged shard of obsidian infused with chaotic energy, sang a discordant counterpoint to the Knight's radiant longsword. Steel met steel with a deafening clang, sparks erupting like miniature suns in the twilight.

Sir William, his eyes burning with crimson embers, pressed the attack. He moved with a fluid, predatory grace, his dark blade weaving a whirlwind of blows that defied the laws of physics. The Holy Knight, resolute as a mountain, stood firm, his every parry a hymn of faith etched in polished steel. Their blades danced a deadly ballet, a clash of light and shadow that tore at the very fabric of reality.

The ground trembled beneath their feet, each strike sending tremors through the crumbling buildings of the slum. The stench of ozone and scorched metal hung heavy in the air, a macabre perfume of battle. The possessed citizens, caught in the maelstrom of their clash, stumbled and wavered, their eyes reflecting the conflicting energies that warred around them.

Sir William, fueled by the raw power of chaos, rained down blows with a ferocity that seemed to mock the very concept of defense. The Holy Knight, however, met each strike with a calm, unwavering focus. His blade, blessed with the light of a thousand prayers, deflected the shadows with a shimmering grace.

But the Holy Knight was not merely a shield. With each parry, he unleashed a devastating counterattack. His blade, a beacon of celestial light, carved through the darkness, leaving trails of hissing light in its wake. Sir William, though a whirlwind of chaos, found himself pressed back, his anger a double-edged sword that threatened to consume him.

"Your darkness will not prevail!" the Knight boomed, his voice a chorus of righteous fury. "Turn from your wicked path and find solace in the Light!"

Sir William laughed, a cold, mocking sound that echoed through the ruins. "Light? wherever light or darkness as long we can utilize this power no matter what form it takes. It is power that defines us, not the illusions of morality."

'It seems I had to use Blood Pact to win this battle, Lord Gareth told me not to use this spell unless necessary because the drawbacks are too great to outweigh the benefits.' Sir William thought about using Blood Pact.

He concentrates his mana in his thumb and recites the spell. "By The blood god, I offer my blood and mana. Grant me the strength to surpass my limits." Ren bites his thumb.

The air crackled with dark aura as Sir William bit his thumb, drawing blood. The chaotic energy surged around him, engulfing him in a dark aura. The ground beneath him trembled as the forbidden Blood Pact spell took effect.

"Raghhhhh!" Sir William scream echo through the slum district as the chaotic energy coursed through his veins, enhancing his strength, speed, and resilience. His eyes glowed with an otherworldly crimson light as the power of the Blood God flowed through him.

Sensing the dark transformation, The Holy Knight tightened his grip on his shining blade. "Tsk, a forbidden art. Your desperation to win this battle is in vain."

Sir William, now empowered by the Blood Pact, moved with an unnatural swiftness. His strikes became a blur of shadows, and the Holy Knight struggled to keep up with the ferocity of the onslaught.

The clash between light and darkness reached its zenith, the chaotic energy emanating from Sir William distorting the very air around him. The possessed citizens, caught in the periphery of this supernatural duel, quivered as if torn between two opposing forces.

Elara, still on the rooftop, adjusted her aim. The time had come to provide crucial support to Sir William, even if it meant piercing through the veil of chaos surrounding him.

She took a deep breath, focusing her energy, and let loose a single arrow imbued with a unique enchantment. The arrow streaked through the air, guided by Elara's precise aim, aiming for the Holy Knight's exposed flank.

The Holy Knight, locked in combat with the empowered Sir William, sensed the incoming threat. With a quick sidestep, he narrowly avoided the enchanted arrow. However, the distraction proved costly, as Sir William capitalized on the opening.

With a final, devastating strike, Sir William's dark blade cleaved through the Holy Knight's defenses. The radiant armor cracked, and the holy sword fell from the knight's grasp.

"No!" The Holy Knight gasped as the chaotic energy surged through him, overpowering the light that had once shielded him. He collapsed to the ground, defeated but still alive.

Priest Samuel, witnessing the fall of the Holy Knight, he quickly began chanting a healing incantation, hoping to restore the fallen knight.
