When Viviana opened her eyes she was shocked by the bright lights of her surroundings, as she was trying to adjust her sight she realized that she was in a hospital.
As she lay in the hospital bed, Viviana tried to piece together how she had gotten there. One moment she had been in school, listening to Julian's annoying story, and the next she was here. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her head, causing her to cry out. It was unbearable .
A nurse rushed into the room," Are you alright? " She asked, but Viviana was in too much pain to reply.
The nurse saw how much pain the girl was in and acted quickly. She injected her with sedatives to help reduce the pain
" You have been unconscious for a day, so you shouldn't move too much. Your test results just arrived from the lab today…" The nurse informed Viviana
" Your father and the Doctor are discussing your case, please be calm, everything will be alright". The nurse assured Viviana.
Since Viviana was sedated, she couldn't reply or ask the nurse any questions, but she was quite shocked to realize her father was in the hospital, and she had been unconscious for a day.
What was going on, what was happening to her, she pondered. It must be very severe for Lorenzo Marino, who was a very busy man, to be here.
It meant something was really off, but Viviana tried her best not to think too much about it as it could be nothing. After all, people do faint once in a while due to stress, but if it was nothing serious, why was she in the ICU room?
While absorbed in her thoughts, she remained unaware of the door being pushed open, allowing two men to enter. The Doctor, a middle-aged man in a lab coat exuding experience and knowledge from his face, strode into the ICU room. Right behind him entered Lorenzo, her father.
Lorenzo had a worried look on his face, but he tried to conceal his emotions because he didn't want his youngest child to get worried and start overthinking things. But he could see dark days ahead, as the news given to him was quite heartbreaking.
"Vivi "he called out softly, that was when Viviana realized her father was in the room, but she was too tired to reply as she was sedated and already feeling the side effects, Dreamland was already calling, and she was too tired to resist. She shut her eyes, slowly walking into the Dreamland that called her name.
Lorenzo panicked thinking that something was wrong, that was when the nurse informed him and the doctor that she just sedated the patient.
" So Mr. Marino, I would advise for her to be transferred to the central hospital as there is a specialist there who specializes in rare disease cases like hers, here is the specialist's business card if you have any further questions. It would be better if you contact the specialist directly" the Doctor informed Lorenzo.
" Thanks for your efforts Dr. Brown, I really appreciate it, my assistant will discuss the transfer details later with you" Lorenzo replied, shaking the doctor's hand appreciatively.
" There's no problem, I am just doing my job," the doctor said with a slight smile and then exited the room with the nurse.
Lorenzo turned to look at his daughter, who was being supported by life support machines.
He recalled hurrying back to town after receiving word from the hospital that Viviana had collapsed at school and remained unconscious for several hours. He had to quickly wrap up his work and catch a flight back.
Similarly, he seems to have faced considerable misfortune in life. Initially losing her mother and now facing the possibility of losing her too to the rare genetic disorder cystic fibrosis xx ..
Fate is probably laughing at him. He gave Viviana a peck on her forehead and then settled on a seat in the room before he started going through some business documents on his phone, but he couldn't concentrate as his thoughts were scattered all over the room.
He then took a look at Vivi and exhaled out. He still had to break the news to her when she woke up.
Someone abruptly pushed open the door and Lorenzo looked up from his phone just to realize it was his son Matteo, who looked like he had just run a marathon.
Breathing heavily, Theo asked his father" Dad why is she still unconscious I heard she just woke up" He spoke with a confused look on his face.
Lorenzo smiled because he just realized that Theo probably hurried to the ICU room hoping to catch his sister awake.
He was really proud of how close his children were, Viviana and Matteo had a strong bond between them, and Theo always acted like a father figure to Vivi whenever he was not around.
" She is fine. I guess she was sedated earlier because she woke up with a piercing headache," Lorenzo replied to his son with a small smile that reached his eyes then returned his attention to his phone.
" Okay, but Dad, I think you should head back home. I would stay with her, you haven't had any rest since you got back", Theo tried to persuade his father because he knew how stressed his Dad must be as he hadn't had any rest since yesterday. Dark circles were already forming under his eyes.
" I am fine, don't give me that look" Lorenzo laughed because of the funny look his son gave him,
" I am still quite young as I am only in my thirties I am not an old man, and also I want to be the one who breaks the news about her health condition to her when she wakes up at least, I really can't bear to see her in this condition". Lorenzo explained, feeling a pang of pain in his chest.
"Is it that serious? I'm not comfortable with this. What's going on with Vivi?" Theo felt scared as things appeared more complicated than he had anticipated. He earnestly hoped his little sister wasn't in jeopardy.
Lorenzo gave Theo a forced smile "Don't worry, everything will be alright, your sister is strong she won't let this bring her down". Theo tried to believe his father's words. He knew his father well, and he knew he could not force him to talk, Theo just had to wait still Vivi woke up too.
