It was late at night when Viviana woke up from her deep slumber.
The hospital was so quiet that she could hear vehicles passing by the hospital on the roadside. The hospital had an underground parking lot, so it was close enough for her to hear movements on the road when it was quiet.
She was quite disorganized when she woke up because she had one of the weirdest dreams ever. In the dream, she was standing on a decked building roof, staring at a lonesome girl's back. The girl was standing at the edge of the rooftop, staring at the sky.
It was the dead of night and the sky was gorgeous because it was adorned with countless stars.
The lonely girl seemed to have realized someone else's presence, she slowly turned to stare back at Vivi, and she smiled. It was such a soft smile, it seemed like she was happy.
She said something inaudible to Vivi and turned back to look at the sky. That was when Vivi woke up from her sleep.
It was indeed a bizarre dream. But what did the dream mean? Who was that girl?
Vivi couldn't remember her face as she did not have a clear view of her in the darkness of the night, with only the twinkle of stars casting a small beam of light into the night.
Leaving her intrusive thoughts aside, her eyes darted as they scanned the room. The room she had been in was almost empty except for someone asleep on a seat in a corner of the room.
Vivi tried to call out, but her throat was too dry as she had not eaten nor drank anything for almost two days now.
She couldn't even say a word and ended up coughing. The coughing sounds woke up Theo, who was asleep in the room.
Theo rushed to Vivi's side and poured her a glass of water,
"Here, have a glass of water." He gave it to her, and she took it from him. Theo gave her back a pat to ease the coughing. After she had drank enough and kept the glass aside, he then inquired,
"Are you alright? Do you need anything ?" She was quite disorganized when she woke up because she had one of the weirdest dreams ever. In the dream, she was standing on a decked building roof, staring at a lonesome girl's back. The girl was standing at the edge of the rooftop, staring at the sky.ely way.
After drinking the glass, Vivi's throat felt relieved, and she could finally get words out of her mouth. " No, I am alright," she raised a smile at him,
" Please, where is Dad? I thought I saw him here earlier." she finally replied to her brother.
Theo was relieved because Vivi seemed quite normal, and he wondered what was the big deal which their father wasn't ready to disclose.
Viviana had a cute questioning look on her face as she was still expecting answers from Theo because she needed to know what was wrong with her health condition.
She could vividly remember the nurse mentioning that her father had spoken to the doctor.
Theo was so amused at Vivi's adorable expectant look that he couldn't help but chuckle before he replied,
"Well, Dad stepped out to pick up an important call concerning the company, I think he did mention something about making some transfer arrangements too if my memory serves me right"
He tightened his grip on his sister's hand and asked, "Are you certain you don't need anything? It's been a while since you've had something to eat."
Vivi's stomach seemed to heed her brother's words, emitting a loud grumble that resonated through the room.
Viviana felt quite embarrassed as it didn't sound ladylike at all.
She buried her face under her blanket cover because she couldn't bear to look at Theo's smirking face at her. Though he looked hot whenever he had that look on his face… Damn!
'He is probably laughing at me right now' she thought, pursing her lips.
Theo could only shake his head at his sister's cute reaction,
"I guess I will order some food, but I am not sure if I can get something good as it is already late and no need to hide in the blanket. I am your brother, there is nothing to be embarrassed about" he took out his phone and started making orders.
While staying hidden beneath her blanket, Vivi requested, "Oh, and could you grab me some sketching supplies? I have something in mind to draw and I also need my phone."
" Well, you know you can come out of the blanket stop acting like a baby, are you sure there is nothing more you need" Theo inquired as he was about to step out of the room.
" No, and please get going before I lose all my dignity as a cultured noble lady" Vivi's muffled voice coming under the blanket replied.
Theo finally couldn't hold back his laughter,
"All right milady, I will take my leave now to see to all your needs," he said with a mocking bow before stepping out.
In the hallway, Theo directed one of the bodyguards to fetch sketching materials from a nearby convenience store and to also wait for the food he had ordered for his sister.
A few moments after the guard left, Theo spotted his Dad heading back to the room with his assistant, David.
He jogged to catch up with his father and informed him that Viviana was now awake.
"She's up now" he announced.
"It's high time you spilled the beans, Dad," he added, narrowing his eyes at his father..
He wondered why it was so difficult for Lorenzo to talk, and why is he so tight-lipped about it.
Lorenzo brushed the question away, trying to ignore it and instead asked,
"Has she had anything to eat yet? David, please order some takeouts for Viviana."
Of course, Matteo didn't like the fact he was being ignored and sarcastically spoke out loud for everyone to hear,
" I never knew Mr. Marino's ears had gone deaf. I think it is about time you get them checked, don't you think so?"
Lorenzo frowned, not liking his son's rude attitude and sarcastic tone and was about to give him a harsh scolding when Theo cut him off before he could open his mouth,
" There's no need to order takeout; I've already placed some orders for Vivi. I'm sorry for how I spoke earlier; I'm just really stressed and tense about everything. I trust that you know what's best since you're the adult here. I won't press you for any more information," Theo dutifully apologized before settling into a chair in the hallway.
Lorenzo swallowed back the complaint in his mind as he could see how emotionally stressed his son was, and based on Theo's level of intellect it was quite obvious that he had already pieced most of the entire scenario.
