The following morning was chaotic. I jumped out of Riel's car rushing to get to class. Riel knows I dislike being late. Punctuality helps avoid unnecessary marks that can lead to calling my parents to school.
My dumb sister decided to ruin my morning by pleading for me and Riel to accompany her to go shopping after school. Right after I refused, my Mom gave me a stare, and in a serious tone asked,
"What is so important for you to do after class that you can't go with your sister?"
As I don't want to be told what to do, and that will surely happen if I argue, I have to control this situation. To avoid dealing with Mom and get it done on my terms, I have to be smart. I didn't respond to Mom and turned to my sister.
With a forced smile, gritting my teeth, I told her "Alright. Ask Mom to drop you off at the mall after school. Riel and I will meet you there."
I headed to my room cursing under my breath while hearing Grace excitedly telling Mom what she would buy. I now need to find an outfit to pack for a change of clothes. I don't like parading my school uniform at the mall.
I texted Riel regarding the plan for after school, reminding her we will need to change after class.
....
There's traffic on the way to school which added to my frustration. Riel tried her hardest to lighten my mood by goofing around with me. It didn't change my sulky attitude. Riel already knows that she pulled right in front of the school building to let me off before parking her car.
I was running toward the classroom when I realized my backpack was open and a couple of my things were on the floor.
"Argh!!! Shit starts and misery follows." I mumbled as I backtracked to pick up my things.
"Are these yours?"
I looked up and saw a nice-looking guy handing me my keychain and pen. I know he is standing with another person but my eyes got fixated on him somehow. I slowly took my things from him not even blinking. I didn't even realize that I was staring while smiling until I heard Riel tease me. She caught up with me in the school hallway after parking her car.
"That's a record for the time-lapse of you smiling after sulking."
I turned to look at Riel who had a smile on her face.
"What brought that smile that I worked so hard in the car to bring out?"
I gave Riel a look that indicated that I wanted her to be quiet. She shrugged and told me to hurry up because we were late.
I turned to look behind me as Riel and I started walking toward our classroom. I gave the guy a nod and a wave when I realized he was standing there with a girl. She looks pretty.
We sat down and started pulling out our textbooks then the teacher announced that we had transfers in our class. I was busy looking for the page we were supposed to be on when I heard a manly voice say "Good Morning! I am Alec." I looked up and could see that it was the same nice-looking guy from the hallway.
"Good morning I am Jazi." says the person next to him.
Romeo is right about her being beautiful. She has that same confident aura as Riel though she seems friendlier and has a bubbly personality. She's about the same height as Alec. Fair with smooth skin as if she frequented a skin care clinic. She looks adorable with her short-styled hair, smile, and oozing confidence.
I can't help switching my eyes to the guy standing with her though. He is attractive in a mysterious way. His wavy fine hair naturally fits his chiseled face. His lips are perfectly shaped making him look like he is constantly wearing a smile.
The teacher announced that they are twins who recently relocated to our city thus joining our school. The teacher instructed them to sit in the two vacant chairs that were next to Riel.
Jazi sat next to Riel and Alec sat beside Jazi. We are now seated in one row making it hard to chat with Jazi.
Riel was already looking at me when I turned my head to look at her. I gave her a heavy sigh with a sweet smile. She rolled her eyes at me knowing my old crush just got replaced. She knows me well.
Riel knows what to do next. She will discreetly find information about Jazi that she will trade with me later for something she wants me to do or get.
First-period class was interesting today and I didn't complain about being bored. It felt like I was about to add an interesting chapter to my high school life.
