Class ended without me saying my usual sarcastic comments about the topic of the day.
Riel finds my sarcasm amusing as long as it is not directed at her.
I realized she was staring at me so I teased her.
"You are my best friend so I won't charge you for admiring my good-looking face."
That was enough for Riel to turn her head in disgust.
"I do not like this well-behaved you. You are like a different person."
I chuckled hearing Riel say I am well behaved.
Before I could even respond, the bell rang and everyone started rushing to get to the next class.
Riel and I have the same second-period class which is at the very end of the hallway.
As we walked out, Riel whispered "She's with someone already."
My shoulders dropped and gave Riel a disappointed look.
"She has a girlfriend."
My head dropped on the side feeling like I lost before I even got started.
'Wait.....'
"GIRLFRIEND?!?" I perked up and stopped in my tracks.
Riel nodded. "She did a short video chat with her during class and was all flirty."
My forehead wrinkled, computing what Riel just said.
"It may just be a very good friend."
Riel shook her head and refused my statement.
"I am telling you, trust me. I know for sure." she pulls me to continue walking.
We were halfway down the hallway when we noticed Alec standing outside looking at a paper very confused.
"What is your next class?", I asked him.
"He looked up and said Calculus, Chan is the teacher" he responded.
I smiled and told him to follow us.
We got to the class and headed to our regular seat where Riel sat by the window, and I sat next to her. Alec followed us and asked if I was good at Calculus.
"I am better with numbers than words." I smiled.
I heard him chuckle then said, "I am better with words than numbers."
I thought we balanced each other but didn't have the guts to say it out loud fearing Riel's remarks if she heard me.
As we sat down, I looked around for Jazi. I guess she doesn't have this class.
"Your sister... errmm... Jazi right?"
Hearing me ask this, Riel looked up to the ceiling and rolled her eyes.
"Yes, Jazi. She is in a different class for this period", Alec nonchalantly responded.
Second class period means I will be sitting next to Alec from now on. I can take this opportunity to slowly get close to him to get info on Jazi. It'll be odd to ask about his sister's supposedly girlfriend on her video call so I will reserve that for later.
Mr. Chan arrived and started the attendance check. He completed it without calling Alec. I was waiting for Mr. Chan to call out Alec's full name.
He didn't say anything at all which made me wonder. I whispered to him that his name wasn't called.
"Yeah.", he said. "I will catch him after class and tell him."
I leaned closer to him to tell him this teacher quickly disappear after class when Mr. Chan called out my name.
"Mr. Gan, I haven't started class for you to have anything to talk about.
I looked up to see Mr. Chan looking straight at me.
I straightened up and got ready to defend myself.
"Sir, you forgot to call his name" I pointed at Alec. "I was just telling him about your teleportation skill after class that he needs to inform you now."
The whole class burst out laughing and I felt proud getting one on Mr. Chan. The entire class is aware of how fast Mr. Chan disappear after class as if avoiding the chance for any of us to ask a question.
Mr. Chan sighed heavily and asked for Alec to stand up.
Alec seemed amused by my antic as he stood up smiling.
I faintly heard gasping in class which was probably caused by his awesome cool looks.
"Who are you to know about my so-called teleportation skills?"
Alec smiled, "Alec Darwin, new transfer, dazzled by your teleportation skill, Sir."
Another laughter broke out.
I looked at Riel and she had tears from laughing so hard.
"Amusing" is the next thing that came out of Mr. Chan's mouth before starting the class. "I have listed you on the roster."
Class proceeded and everyone changed their focus to Mr. Chan's lecture.
I enjoy this class a lot. This is the only class that Riel will ask me for help. I usually have her helping me in other subjects but when it comes to Calculus, it is the other way around.
Alec was taking notes when I noticed how legibly he wrote. He draws a question mark beside a few of them and circles it. I asked him what the circled question mark was for.
"It means, offer a meal in exchange for understanding this.", he laughs.
Adorable doesn't fit his looks but he is. I am getting more interested in this guy.
The class felt like a breeze today. A couple of times that I happen to look at Alec, I can't help but admire his attractive face. He has a soft-looking face balanced by his manliness smell. I barely know him but it is obvious that he takes care of himself well. He is new in class but he doesn't exhibit any sign of nervousness. Hard for my interest not to be piqued.
