CHAPTER 26
"Dorothy, I'm surprised you are here. Shouldn't you be at work?" I asked as soon as I got to the living room. She was standing while waiting for my arrival.
"I was but I wanted to check up on you" she scrunched her nose. "and I also saw the news."
"Thank you but you shouldn't have and you don't need to worry about that." I waved my hand dismissively.
"How can I not worry when it's my fault? You wouldn't have been in this situation if I didn't suggest we go to the bar."
"I went there voluntarily and drank into a stupor. You didn't force me to do anything. Please sit." I said, motioning to an empty sofa behind her.
"Thank you." She said, settling on the chair.
"Any news from the cafe?"
