CHAPTER 31
In a booming round of applause and hailing, Richard stepped forward to take my hand and helped me get off the stage. He stared at me with an adoring grin as I made my way down the short stairs. He kissed the back of my hand and then looped my hand into the crook of his arm and led me to where the others were waiting. "What was that about?" I inquired.
He gazed down at me. "That was me making sure I secure my woman." He said it like it was the most obvious thing ever. "And a glimpse of how competitive I am."
"Others were starting from a thousand, two thousand but you," I jab his chest playfully with my index finger. "You had to start from twenty thousand."
"I wasn't going to accept anything less than that. I had to bid first."His statement made my heart flutter.
"You are one proud man Mr Berlette." I teased.
"If that makes a proud man, I gladly accept it." I shook my head and cackled. Oh, Richard.
