CHAPTER 27
My eyes were transfixed with panic, unable to look away no matter how much I wanted to. I wrapped my hands around myself as my body grew tense to the point of shaking. I glanced at Dorothy, her mouth was clamped and her eyes fixed on the parcel.
"Who did you say sent this again?" I said with a quavering voice, forgetting the answer she gave me earlier.
"It's anonymous. This is atrocious!" she exclaimed. "We should report this immediately." She got up from her seat and trotted toward the door.
"Wait." I called out, stopping her in her tracks. "come back. Don't report it"
She looked at me like I was crazy. "May I ask why? This is a threat to your life and safety. It's only reasonable you report this immediately." I picked up the box with shaky hands and dumped it in the trash can.
"No one should know about this yet." I declared, rubbing my hands together to control my trembling hands. Her brows rose in a surprised arc.
