"How was it?" Nina asked David as he walked down into the inn the next morning. It was still dark, with only a single lamp illuminating the place.
Sometimes, David wondered if she ever slept. Even when he returned in the middle of the night, of left before sunrise, she would appear out of nowhere.
"What, the arena?" David replied, and she nodded.
"I don't know. I'm glad I can train, while staying in the city. But I didn't expect to see a place like that, where people throw away their lives." David paused for a moment before he continued.
"Back home, life and death battles where only a matter for survival. Not for wealth. Not for fame. Not for power." His eyes were filled with a deep sadness, the reality of life in Lightharbor was beginning to set in.
"And I didn't expect to see." David's voice trailed off, not willing to say it out loud.
