Chapter 51 - Lesson Two

Carved out of the same white stone as the arena, the head of the the statue rose to the height of the top most seats, taking it stance in an alcove set in between them, breaking the ring that the seats made.

It was standing astride a low stone building, where the man who had just lost was walking into, a matching building on the other side of the arena.

The statue depicted a muscular man, with shaggy hair that fell all the way down his back. He wore no armor, and carried no weapons, wearing just a belted tunic and sandals.

His arms were spread wide, as if embracing the sky above, in a gesture of victory, and his eyes stared off into the horizon, as though the battles that occurred below would not even worth his gaze.

The pointed, almost regal nose, and piercing eyes reminded David of a face he had seen before. He looked at the statue for a few more moments, examining the sharp jaw and pointed chin, something was slightly off.
