"What's going on Ina?!" I yelled through the phone.
"Aponi, I did something really bad." She gasped for air as she cried her eyes out.
"What? What did you do?! Tell me!" I was thinking the worst now.
"I broke one of the vases in the living room. You know I'm old I didn't even remember they put it there."
"It's okay. Those rich people probably won't mind."
"No, no they just bought it yesterday for millions and millions of dollars. I heard the owner been waiting for it and he was going to come today to see it!"
I gulped. I knew that but I was trying to make her feel better.
"I'm on my way home." She added.
"What?! You ran away!" I panicked now.
"I don't have that money to pay! I don't think nobody does!" She cried more and hung up.
I grabbed my bag and went downstairs.
"Hey! Where you going?!" My step father yelled.
"I'm going to see Mrs. Ina. She needs my help."
"Oh shut up and stop sticking your nose in other people's business!" He pointed his finger at me, stood up from the couch and came closer to me.
I rushed out and made a ran for it. I knew I would get punished later for it.
"I'm calling your fukin mom!" He yelled from behind on the porch.
Ina lived like down the street but it was a wooded area. So, it did take awhile to get there but I didn't care. She only had me and I only had her.
I waited for her to appear outside and that's when I saw the cab. I rushed to her to help her get out.
"Hurry! Let's go inside!" She quickly ordered.
"Ina this is crazy!" I tried not to panic but I couldn't.
We barely made it inside when we heard banging on the door. It felt like the door would collapse on the floor.
"Don't open it, Aponi." She whispered.
"I have to or it can get worse. Don't worry I'm here."
"You don't have money." She squeezed my wrist like if I was crazy.
I pulled away and opened the door.
"I'm going to call the cops on you if you don't stop bothering my daughter!" Robert yelled at Ina.
"Calm down! Didn't you stay home? What are you doing here?!"
"Your mom is on her way right now."
"You called her?! Let her work in peace. Since, you won't do it!" I yelled at him.
Ina was crying so bad she could hardly breath.
I went to hug her and said, "Don't worry okay. Everything will be fine, I promise."
Even though the door was open we heard a knock I guess to get our attention. We did look back it was a guy in a suit.
"Hello, I'm Suga lawyer. I just came to inform you that charges will be put against you for running away and breaking the vase."
"No, no she didn't know." I rushed to him.
"I'm sorry but there is cameras. She was informed about the vase beforehand."
"There has to be a way to fix this, right?" I questioned him.
"Of course. She can pay the money." He smiled as he informed us.
"Can't he just let this slide?" I tried to beg at this point.
He chuckled. "This vase means a lot to him and she needs to pay."
"Put him in the phone."
"What?"
"Please, I'm trying to fix this without this situation going to far." I begged.
He sighed and called him.
"What? Is she in jail?"
I hissed as he was on speaker.
"Hey, nobody's going to jail okay!" I yelled at him as I looked at the screen.
"Hey! Don't speak to me like that. I didn't break any of your stuff." He stated. Which he was right but he pissed me off.
Ina began to cry out loud and we all looked at her except suga.
"What the hell is that noise?" Suga asked in disgust and annoyance.
"Sir, it's the lady that broke your vase."
"Look, she's a elderly lady. She can't go to jail at her age."
"Oh so you will go in her place then?" He suggested.
"Hey! Calm down!" Robert yelled.
Suga asked. "Now, who's that your dad? Your boyfriend? Look I don't give a fuk-"
I snatched the phone and went outside to get away from everybody.
"Look you aren't getting that vase back. Obviously, we don't have the money to pay you back. Is there another way we can fix this?"
"She will pay back no matter what."
"At her age?! Do you hear yourself?! Do you even have a mother?!"
"Ma'ma that's enough!" The lawyer yelled from behind as he snatched the phone out of my hand.
"I will pay the money back!" I shouted at them.
"Aponi, you can't. It's 27.3 million dollars." Ina said from behind.
"W-what?" I stuttered and put my hand over my chest.
"You don't even have a job Aponi. You fukin idiot! I told you to stay away from this stupid lady!" Robert yelled at me.
My eyes lit up. "I'll work for you until I die."
Everyone responded. "What?"
"I heard you pay well. I don't have a job and nobody is going to jail. Even if you take us to court or whatever. The judge will obviously tell her to pay but she can't. So, punish me instead. I'm young and don't have any future plans."
"Even if you pass the age of 100 you won't finish paying me the money."
"Even if we go to jail you won't get your vase back. So, will you take my offer?"
"What can you do? You don't have experience in nothing." He hissed.
Robert yelled. "You can't fukin leave us!"
"Oh shut up. I'm an adult I can do whatever I want!" I shouted at Robert.
"Will see about that!" Robert yelled as he left.
Ina gushed as she said, "Aponi it's okay. Let me go to jail. I'm sure I won't be there for long."
I began to cry. "Don't say that! You can't leave! You can't give up because of him."
"Sir..." The lawyer said through the phone.
"Make her sign an agreement. I'll let you know when you'll start." Suga said annoyed.
"Really?! Oh my gosh! Thank you! Thank you so much!" I excitingly said.
