Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Inheritance Orb

Kiel arrived at the nondescript Swordsman Dojo. It was a building with a courtyard in front which was lined with training dummies with young men and women standing in front of it and hitting it..

Kiel confidently walked up the pathway leading to the hall passing by the students training hard.

He approached the middle aged man who stood in the middle of the dojo overlooking the training students.

Stopping in front of the red haired man, Kiel bowed, greeted the man and stated his intentions.

Turns out the man was the master of the Swordsman Dojo, Ryujin Sakamoto.

When Kiel stated his name, the fierce man actually bowed back to him and thanked him for the early warning about the Orc invasion.

"Umm what about the swordsman class"

Kiel tentatively asked.

"You still have to pass the test. Now, please draw one of those wooden swords from the side and strike at the dummy over there. Once you manage to break one, we will continue to the next test."

Shrugging his shoulder, Kiel said his thanks and headed to the side to pick up a sword. He then went to the training dummies and started striking.

1 hit and the dummy was obliterated.

The whole group stopped and gawked at him.

Kiel stood there awkwardly scratching his head. Then he turned and looked at the trainer.

"Did I pass?"

The stunned Ryujin quickly composed himself and replied.

"Yes, you did well. Now, let's proceed to the agility test"

Kiel was then led to the back of the dojo.

"Please get on and stay on those poles for an incense stick of time."

Kiel calmly obliged and climbed on top of the pole

It was a 10 by 10 pole Plum Blossom Pole with swinging logs that forces one to keep moving around to avoid being hit.

This was very interesting. Kiel got the Swordsman class in his previous life much later. It was not this Plum Blossom Pole but stone steps in the middle of a pool and blunted arrows… It had taken him 10 tries to pass.

Anyway, Kiel cleared his mind of all distractions and got on.

With his superior stat, he easily survived.

Jumping down after the test was over, Ruji seemed to start to admire him.

"You have built a very good foundation.

Let us continue to the last test, draw your sword"

Kiel obliged. Ryujin did not attack, instead he ordered one of his disciples to spar with Kiel.

The process was fast and painless. Kiel dominated his opponent in every aspect, be it skill, strength, footwork, stamina. He always stopped once he touched the opponent's body while the disparaged disciple's futile attempt to even touch a corner of his clothes left the student questioning his life choices.

By the end, Ryujin could not stand it anymore and called for a stop. Anymore and it would destroy his disciple heart of sword.

Ryujin was tempted to try sparring with Kiel, but he was not confident he could win and did not want to lose his prestige in front of his students.

Begrudgingly, he bestowed Kiel his class. A beautiful prompt heralding his achievement:

Everyone in the hall could seem to feel Kiel somehow felt different, stronger, sharper.

He politely thanked the Dojo Master and was about to leave. He wanted to quickly leave the city and start hunting to level up in the forest to test out his skills.

Just as he turned around. The Dojo Master called out:

"Wait!! Please come with me. I have something important to tell you."

Without waiting to see if Kiel would actually follow, Ryujin turned around and headed to the side hall.

Things clicked in Kiel's mind. Seemed like he triggered a hidden quest. Excitedly he followed the Dojo Master.

As he got into the hall. The Dojo Master closed the sliding door and requested a duel.

Kiel obliged. Now he has acquired his class His power level was now completely different.

It was not an easy battle. But every move Kiel made was perfectly countered. Ryujin seemed to know his next move.

Kiel's every feint, slash, thrust was completely seen through. The fight was unnerving.

Upset, Kiel casted Power Boost(3) and even this failed to overpower the Master.

Even though he slowly got more fluent as the fight went on, it was still hopeless.

At a deadend, Kiel decided to gamble on a move he had seen before in his past life. He tried coating his sword with his mana.

It was a futile attempt. After a full 15 minutes, his mana had run dry and now he was knocked down, panting heavily, lying spread-eagled, covered in sweat.

Instead of being more upset, however, Kiel smiled.

He had found a master.

So now he can improve!

Kiel never bothered with ego. In fact he never gave a damn about what others think.

All he desired was to get stronger.

He looked at the master and said:

"Can I learn from you?"

Ryujin, who was panting and supporting himself with the wooden sword, was quiet, he had a deep pondering expression.

"You could, but you won't be able to learn much from me."

Kiel sat up, looked at Ryujin with a puzzled expression and waited for him to continue.

"I can give you two choices.

Learn from me everything you can.

Attempt a special class.

Apparently, only the fated can obtain it. Many have failed before you.

Make your choice."

Ryujin looked at Kiel with anticipation.

"What are my chances and what class is it?" Kiel asked.

"I do not know. No one had ever passed his test.

It was left by my great grandfather, he had once found it when venturing in the mountains."

Ryujin pulled out a watermelon sized glass ball from a hidden compartment behind a painting.

"All we know is that this is an Inheritance Orb."

Holding on to the orb, he looked at the status:

"Inheritance Orb: Pass down Inheritance."
