Barry was happy to hear what Victoria said. If they succeed in getting the right ingredients then she will be able to make as many potions as possible.
"We'd better get out of here, right?" Danny said. His eyes scanned around anxiously because he felt that danger could come again from anywhere.
"You're right. Let's go back to the motel," Barry said.
"Wait, before that I have to get my stuff first," Victoria said.
"Okay. Please hurry," Barry replied.
Victoria nodded then ran back into the house. Although Barry felt that when hunting he had to wait for her.
Victoria came a minute later. She was carrying a shabby backpack that was torn in several places. Inside it, Barry can see several clear vials.
"Let's go," Victoria said.
They returned to the motel after defeating the bandits. Without wasting any time, Barry said his purpose and what he was going to do.
He explains about Bunker Alpha and how he wants to save his mother and sister as fast as possible.
"You guys should come with me. Our chances of survival will be bigger if we stay together," Barry explained.
"I'll come with you," Victoria immediately said without thinking much. "I've suffered long enough in that house. I have nowhere else to go. It seems like coming with you two would be much better."
Barry nodded with a smile. With Victoria who can make magic potions for them, their strength will increase.
"Well, we'll come too," Anna said.
"Yeah." Danny nodded his head.
Seeing that they all wanted to come with him, Barry of course felt relieved. He knows that the danger will increase the further he walks. Getting strong allies makes everything easier. Hopefully.
He turned to Elaine. The girl also seemed happy with their presence.
"Then, we should go now," Barry said.
They all left in two cars. Barry, Elaine, and Victoria in Elaine's 4WD. Meanwhile, Danny and Anna brought their own truck.
"Can you drive faster?" Barry said while looking forward.
"I think it would be dangerous. We can never know what will appear before us," Elaine replied.
Barry sighed. After a moment of thinking he said. "You're right."
As much as he wanted to leave his house, he knew that the risk of something jumping in front of their car was quite high. If they ride at high speed then the possibility of an accident will be greater, which will affect the time they reach their house.
They drive at moderate speed. And finally, they arrived at Barry's house.
It was a simple neighborhood complex with small houses. There are several two-story houses here that are considered homes for people with quite high incomes – by the standards of this place.
Barry's house was not in that category. His house is a one-story house with a narrow yard planted with several types of flowers by his sister.
Now that little garden was destroyed. The flowers scattered around and blood smeared on the ground.
Barry immediately jumped out of the car and ran to his house carrying his sword. He didn't hear what Elaine said from behind because his mind was completely focused on his family.
Various thoughts about what might happen to his mother and sister flashed through his mind. Making Barry confused and afraid.
He kicked the front door until it flew off its frame with a bang. Barry then dashed inside then scanned his surroundings.
Whatever has entered here does not enter through the front door, but by the back door. His sister keeps a dog behind the house. Most likely that dog is mutated and attacked them. But, he didn't hear any sound.
Barry rushed backward. Then he found the corpse of their mutated dog lying with its head split open.
This husky-type dog has been mutated to be three meters long and has sharp claws on each of its legs.
There were also many wounds all over the dog's body, like sharp blade cuts.
'Who did this?' Barry looked around with a frown. 'Could it be possible that... Lyn or Mom, can already use the power that awakens within them?'
Barry suddenly felt a little more relieved than before. He remembered telling me about how the "stats window" worked in a novel he read. Maybe with that knowledge, she managed to survive.
However, Barry can't feel relieved for now. He had to make sure because he didn't hear anything. If her mother and sister are surviving, then they should be here.
But he didn't hear their voices.
Elaine comes to him a moment later with Danny.
"You found them?" Elaine asked.
"No." Barry shook his head. "I'll keep looking."
"We'll help you."
It didn't take long for them to sweep the house clean because of its small size. About three minutes later they had finished searching the whole house.
Barry was in his sister's room and read a note written in messy writing. Seemingly because of the rush.
"Barry, we're fine. We joined a group that was heading to a place called Bunker Alpha."
Reading that, Barry's heart was filled with relief. That means they are safe.
After finding the note, Barry told his findings to the other.
"My parents brought other people with them…?" Elaine looked confused. That's not something her father would normally do.
"I think so," Barry said. Now there was a smile on his face. "Now our goal is clear."
