What he saw up there made Barry widen his eyes. He thought that nothing could make him feel shocked anymore after everything he experienced the last few days.
But Barry was wrong. He hasn't seen anything at all.
Something appeared from within the crack in the sky. It is something that looks like oil or ink with a dark black color.
It filled a crack that was perhaps ten meters wide in diameter. But then it fell as if melting downwards at an alarming speed.
'W-what is that? What should I do?!'
Barry started to feel panic in his heart. Previously, he could still remain calm because the threats he had to face were threats he had already seen or studied.
With his skills, Barry has a certain confidence that he will be able to face most of the threats. Like he did until now.
But now... He saw something that was beyond his expectations. Something he had never seen before. And he doesn't know what it is so it makes him terrified.
The thing fell downwards quickly but did not give any sound of its arrival into this world. If there were any survivors at the place where it fell, Barry was sure that they couldn't hear it coming and could only surrender.
'Shit. I have to wake up the other!"
Barry immediately turned his body away from the terrible and confusing sight and ran into their room. He started waking them up one by one with signs not to make too much noise.
With his expression that looked so tense even in the middle of the darkness with the absence of light, they immediately knew that the situation was bad. They wake up scared and follow Barry outside to look up.
The black thing has almost completed its descent into this world. When Elaine, Victoria, Danny, and Anna saw it, they saw the final process of the thing falling to the ground completely.
"What is that?" Elaine asked in a whispered voice full of worry.
"I don't know," Barry answered.
"Is that a monster?" Danny asked.
"Like I said, I don't know."
"What should we do now?" Danny asked again.
Barry thought in silence for a moment.
"My suggestion is, we should check it out. The sooner we know what it is we can probably figure out a way to kill it," Barry said.
"Are you sure we have to kill it? Or if we have to fight it at all? Can't we avoid it?" Elaine asked.
"I don't know. That's just my suggestion," Barry said. "What do you think?"
Danny said. "I agree with Barry. Based on what's happened up until now I don't think we can avoid it. It's better if we observe it first."
Elaine sighed dejectedly. "Okay. Lets-"
"You stay here," Barry cut her off quickly. "Me and Danny will check outside."
Elaine breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay."
A minute later two men came out of the house. Barry carries his sword and Danny - because he still hasn't found any better weapon - still carries his rifle.
All lights in the house are turned off. Leaving a dark house like the other house here.
Barry and Danny then each ride a bike belonging to Barry's neighbor which they now clearly no longer need. And then they ride towards the place where the black thing fell.
Every stroke of their bicycle felt heavy because it was accompanied by fear. Nobody said anything but their eyes continued to scan the surroundings.
Luckily, with those bikes they don't make much noise.
On the way to the place where they thought the thing gas fell, Barry felt that dreaded feeling again.
"Hide!" he whispered in a tone full of emphasis to Danny.
Danny immediately followed him into hiding without asking. Only after they were well hidden behind a large tree, he asked.
"What?"
"I can feel it," Barry said.
Danny doesn't completely understand. How can Barry feel when those together with him can't feel anything?
But he was only able to hold back his question because a moment later he saw the black thing crawling on the ground. A few meters in front of them.
Danny swallowed his saliva and aimed his rifle. Despite knowing that maybe he couldn't do anything with it.
Meanwhile, Barry just watched that creature with his hand gripping the hilt of his sword but not yet pulling it out.
He gave Danny a signal not to be careless and stay calm. The black thing didn't seem to notice them.
Its size looks much smaller than what they saw when it came out of the crack. But Barry is sure that doesn't make it weaker.
A moment later several mutated animals came out of the houses and park. Creeped towards the black thing willingly.
The black thing then moved, extending its body and enveloped those monsters.
Barry and Danny could see the black liquid which was the material of his body moving. Not long after, nothing remained of the mutated animals.
The black thing changed shape. It gathered into one black lump which then grew legs and arms. After a few seconds of walking, finally the body of a human was formed, complete with its head.
The black thing - now turned into humanoid creature - flexing its new formed body. Then walk. Seemingly looking for another material to digest to create a better body.
After the creature left, Barry and Danny could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"We have to get away from here," Danny said.
"Yes. Let's go back quickly. I know a shortcut," Barry said.
They rode their bikes again and headed in the opposite direction of the black thing.
The situation is escalating. They no longer fight zombies or mutated animal monsters. That thing certainly does not come from this world.
The best decision for them now is to run. As far and as soon as possible.
'Hopefully, we can make it.'
