SCARLET'S POV.
For the past twenty minutes,my breath heightening as I stayed hidden almost dropping down lifeless but I held myself, witnessing Addison engage in passionate sex with his boyfriend, thrusting into him with an intensity as if they'd been apart for ages.
It all clicked into place now. The reason for his lack of maids and the talk of having a harem of men. I realized I had fallen for a gay man who wouldn't return my feelings or spare a moment with me even if had to risk it all for what was beneath his clothes.
Addison's eyes were brimming with love and desire as he passionately made love to his partner, not holding back as he continued inside him.
Eventually, Addison rose from the bed. It seemed they had finished or perhaps just the first round of their intimacy. The two men couldn't stop smiling at each other as Addison switched on the lights, illuminating the room. However, what I hadn't expected was what became visible in the light.
As the lights came on, curiosity got the better of me. I squinted, hoping it wasn't Ryder, but my gasp escaped involuntarily when I realized it was Mike!
Mike, my younger brother who had gone missing ten years ago during the Fedele's attack on my family.
Watching my dear brother, his eyes filled with a mix of desire and affection toward Addison, tears streamed down my cheeks uncontrollably. I wondered if he was coerced into this or if it was his choice.
Did this mean the Fedele had abducted some of my people?
The sight of Mike shook me to the core, triggering a rush of memories of my family. I felt a stabbing pain within me, cowering in agony inside the cramped cupboard.
Being confined in this cupboard heightened my guilt, my desperation to protect my family, especially Mike, whom I love dearly.
Ten years ago, I did nothing while he was taken. Now, I'm still hidden in a cupboard, helpless, while he's being manipulated against his will.
Who would've guessed that Addison was worse than the others? Or was it just a shared sentiment?
Addison scooped Mike up, engaging in another kiss before leading him to the bathroom. I remained hidden, watching as they emerged after a refreshing bath. Addison couldn't seem to resist stealing kisses, as though he couldn't bear to be without Mike.
"I've heard you've got men sneaking in at night," Mike teased, a smile I hadn't seen in a decade gracing his lips.
"No, that's impossible. It's you or nothing," Addison reassured him, their lips meeting once again.
After helping Mike dress and attending to himself, Addison drew Mike into his embrace, peering into his eyes. "When will you come again?"
"I'm not sure yet. I'll be at the clubhouse throughout the week. Ryder needs me there," Mike replied with a sigh of relief.
"Don't tell me you're involved with Ryder," Addison's expression turned into a frown.
"Rest assured, he's committed with a boyfriend, and those strippers in his harem are all vying for his attention."
"Should I pick you up tonight? We could spend the whole weekend together," Addison suggested, flashing a smile and stealing another kiss.
"Okay, I'll consider it..."
"What's there to consider? Come on, I've missed you," Addison urged, playfully tickling Mike, causing uncontrollable laughter.
"Alright, alright. I'll be here for the weekend," Mike finally agreed, sealing it with another kiss as they both exited the room, playful banter and a spank on the way out.
After a while, I heard the door being unlocked, and I was certain they had left. Watching Mike depart without speaking to me only added to the blame I felt as his older sister for not protecting him.
Who knew he stayed at Ryder's club? I just hoped he wasn't one of those strippers in the orgy room.
Slowly emerging from the cupboard, making sure not to make any noise, I lost interest in the book. Seeing Mike had rattled me, and all I desired was to keep my sanity intact, and that meant being near him.
Hurrying outside in hopes of catching a glimpse of him when Addison let him go, I found no trace of them anywhere.
Fatigue weighed me down as I sank to the ground, pondering where else I could find my brother. His presence left me yearning for the brotherly affection that had been forcibly snatched from me ten years ago.
I slowly returned to Xavier's mansion, entering my room and slamming the door shut. Locking it tightly, I needed solitude to keep myself together.
It seemed Xavier was aware of my return as a knock echoed at my door, but I paid no heed, not intending to open it for anyone.
The knocking persisted, but I remained resolute in my silence.
"Scarlet!" Xavier's voice reverberated through the building, tinged with anger and frustration. "Open up and give me a report on what I sent you for!"
All he cared about was the book, I thought bitterly.
Despite his demands, I hadn't obtained it.
"Open the damn door!" He shouted, kicking it as if he intended to break it down.
"Did you get it? Why are you locking yourself in? Talk to me!" His voice continued to boom through the door.
The commotion caught Scarface's attention, prompting him to rush to my room. "Boss, what's going on?" he inquired upon arrival.
"She's locked herself in since returning from Addison's place," Xavier replied.
"Did she find the book?" Scarface inquired.
"I have no clue. We'll only know if she decides to open up!"
I heard slow footsteps walking back and forth and I knew it was Xavier,he probably was wondering what he was going to do with me when that door slam open or if he succeeds in breaking it down.
"Break this door down!" Xavier commanded, and I heard Scarface's hurried footsteps outside. I wondered if they were after the book or worried I might have found it and wanted to uncover its contents. Was the book's information that crucial?
