Mmakwena Nkwana
CAPE TOWN, CHISA NYAMA FASTFOOD.
How dare he be so shameless and say I am shameless. I sat in the car trying to calm down my stupid pounding heart.
"Stop pounding like that." I whined to myself.
My phone suddenly rang causing me the shriek from shock.
"Thato!" I exclaimed relieved as I answered the call.
"Girl? What happened?" he asked.
"Detective Wilson is my…"
"He is your ex." He let out, interrupting me.
"You did a background check on him." I let out, sighing as I held the bridge of my nose.
Of course, his nosy ass would go and do a background check on him.
"I told him that you're my boyfriend." I told him after a while.
"I figured, I'll be in Cape Town in a few days." he told me, chuckling.
"Thank you love." I let out as the door of the car opened.
"Oh, he is with you now?" he asked, amused.
"Gosh, stop it love, we will talk when you come to this side." I replied, smiling an unnoticeable fake smile.
"Goodbye." he let out.
"I love you too." I told him before hanging up.
"Here you go." Thomas said, handing me a burger.
He looked sad but why would he be sad, after all a girl like me… a girl like was not his type. I sighed as I took my burger and started picking on the gherkins on my burger. I didn't like them that much. I decided to take them out and placed them in the open burger box next to me. Thomas suddenly laughed and I realized what I had done.
"You still hate gherkins?" He asked.
"Yeah." I answered flustered by what I had done.
"And sorry for placing them in your box." I added, attempting to take them out of his box.
"Leave it be." He told me, holding my hand.
I pulled my hand away and ate my burger. He sighed before eating his. This is the first time in eleven years that we eat together… It is the first time in eleven years that we are sitting together…
We sat in silence as we ate our burgers, once we were done, we drove to the hotel.

Cape Town, Mokol Hotel.
"I'm going to park the car, then I'll meet you in the lobby." he informed me.
"Okay." I replied as I got out of the car.
I walked into the hotel heading straight to the receptionist.
"Hello, welcome to Mokol Hotel, how can I help you today?" the woman at the reception enunciated, smiling at me.
"Hi, I have two reservations under the names Mmakwena Nkwana and Thomas Wilson." I answered, smiling at her.
"Mmakwena Nkwana and Thomas Wilson?" she asked for verification.
"Yes." I confirmed.
She types into the computer and as her eyes wander through the list. She kept looking until she stopped and stared at me.
"I'm so sorry Miss, but there aren't any reservations under the names Mmakwena Nkwana or Thomas Wilson," she told me looking apologetic at me.
"What? Are you sure?" I asked, shocked and confused.
"Yes, but there is a reservation for a suite for a Mmakwena Wilson. " She answered as she typed in the computer.
"Ah, that is ours." a voice said.
I turn around to see Thomas staring at me. Of course, this freaking idiot would do something like this.
"Are there any rooms available?" I asked her.
She types on the computer as her eyes search through whatever she's reading.
"I'm so sorry, but unfortunately there are none available." She answered looking back up to me.
"Reservation for Mmakwena Wilson." Thomas told her smirking.
"May I please see your ID and credit card?" the receptionist asked.
"Yes, here you go, Ana sweetheart, can you give me your ID and credit card?" He asked grinning.
"Here you go, Son." I let out annoyed.
His jaw clenched as he took my ID and credit card. He gives it to the receptionist before he turns back to me.
He pulls me close by my waist before he kisses me. I try to push him away but that only makes him deepen the kiss. I want to kiss his soft lips back but…
I shove him hard when I hear someone clearing their throat. It's the receptionist… She stares at me with her sparkling eyes. Those eyes you make when you witness something romantic. It was like she was watching a kissing scene from a drama.
"Here is your room key, I hope you enjoy your stay with us, Mr and Mrs Wilson." she let out, trying hard not to laugh.
Fuck! This is so embarrassing. Thomas takes the keys and I'm already walking to the elevator. I'm upset that he thinks that's okay to do.
The doors open and we get in. We are the only two in the elevator.
"Detective Wilson, Why?" I ask furious.
"Why what?" he asked, pretending to be oblivious.
"I really didn't know that the room was booked under your name and my last name." he tells me.
I know he's lying. My guts are telling me that he is lying.
"Why did you kiss me?!" I asked, yelling.
"You know why." he answered smiling.
This fucking psycho is smiling after kissing me right after I told him I had a boyfriend. Is he fucking nuts? Who does that?
"I don't know why!" I exclaimed seething.
"Ana, sweetheart, I told you that every time you call me Son, I would kiss you and that is a promise." He tells me leaning close to me.
The elevator opens and we get out. We walk to the room number on the key.
"35"
We get to room Thirty-five and I turn walking back to the elevator. The room screamed SEX in capital letters. It was as though a newly wedded couple was going to get at it the moment they opened the door. The aphrodisiac scent was so strong that if you inhaled even just a bit of it you would be aroused and ready to get at it. Luckily for Police officers and Detectives, we were trained to withstand the scent and effects of these types of drugs. Thomas saw me and started confused at me.
"Hey! What's wrong?" Thomas asked when he caught up to me.
"You did this on purpose, right?" I asked.
"Huh?" he spoke, stunned.
"I'm not staying in that room." I let out as he walked towards me.
The doors of the elevator opened and he grabbed me by the arm.

Thomas Wilson
"We can get rid of those things." I let out as I held her arm.
Damnit Choi! I told him not to book anything extravagant and he did just that.
"No, I'm not sharing a room with you." she told me.
"Fine by me." I declared.
That's a lie, I want to be with you forever Ana. I wanna hold you in my arms. I want to ho...
"Good! I'm going to make a call and find myself another place to sleep." She let out glaring at me.
She walks to the side and I walk back to the room. I call Choi.
"What did she think about it?" He asked as soon as he picked up.
"Choi, you fucking idiot." I told him, groaning.
"Why did you do that?" I asked him.
"Hey! All girls love that, they love the romantic setting." He answered.
"Choi." I let out, sighing.
"We are working on an investigation, does a romantic setting sound smart for that?" I asked.
"Wilson, You wanted me to give you an opportunity and I did just that." He told me
"In fact, I should be charging you for my service. " He added.
"Shut up Choi, you have enough money to do this for your friend." I let out, rolling my eyes.
"You are lucky that you are my friend." he told me.
"Shut up and tell me what you found out." I said.
"She is dating a guy named Thato." He answered.
"For how long?" I asked.
"Eight years." he answers.
"Fuck." I sounded as I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Yeah, I have to go, I have practice." he declared, hanging up the call.
I sighed as I threw my phone on the bed. I hope he has a bad week forever. I start looking around and I start removing the roses and throwing them in a trash bag. I then took out the neutraliser for drugs and bad substances as I opened the windows to let the scent out.
"Why did you do that?" Ana asked, standing at the door.
"Huh?" I asked.
I knew what she was talking about and I know that she knows.
"I remember clearly booking two separate rooms and suddenly we have a room under my name and your surname." she expressed.
"I didn't do anything An…I didn't do anything Detective." I stated calmly.
To be fair, I didn't do anything except ask a friend to change the reservation, but she doesn't need to know that.
"Look, I'm sorry if you think it's me but it's not, why would I do something this crazy?" I asked her.
She thought for a moment as I stared at her innocently.
I'm going to play the innocent card, yes, I'm going to pretend to be oblivious.
"You have always been like this." she scoffed after a few minutes.
"Like how? And how would you know what I'm like?" I asked her.
"It's been eleven years and I have changed." I added, sighing softly.
"Old habits die hard." she let out looking me in the eyes with anger.
She hates me and I can see it through her eyes.
"I'm really sorry." I told her staring at her.
I am really sorry for what I have done to her. I shouldn't have done that. I could have done better but I didn't…
"And do you think your sorry would mean something to me now?" she asked, her eyes filled with anger.
