Chapter 11 - Information

***

Mmakwena Nkwana

One week later…

I have fully recovered and we have been working vigorously on this case. We were searching for any clue we could find and going with it.

***

One week earlier…

We were all sitting in the living room reviewing the information we had.

"The day I fell through the stairs I saw Thalia's doppelganger." I informed them as I looked at Saige's photo.

Thomas and Dae stopped what they were doing and stared at me attentively. It was like they were prepared.

"What did she say?" They asked me at the same time.

"She wants Nkosi." I answered, sighing.

"She said I should find her at Mellon champagne bar & lounge - nightclub, when I find Nkosi and then she will give me Thalia back." I added.

"She also said that she was Thalia's twin from the celestial kingdom." I informed them.

"Let's go to Mellon champagne bar & lounge - nightclub when you are healed." Thomas let out and I nodded.

"We need to find whatever Saige is searching for." Dae-hyun told me.

I stared at him confused, frowning as he walked into the room.

"What's wrong?" he asks, confused.

"What is Saige looking for?" I asked him, confused.

"Not sure but I'm looking into it all." he answers.

I nod my head as I listened to him. He makes himself a cup of coffee and it struck me.

"Are you not supposed to be practicing for the International volleyball tournament?" I asked Dae-hyun.

"Love, I could win a game with closed eyes, plus Wilson needed my help." he responded.

"Oh, wait, how do you know Thomas?" I asked squinting my eyes.

Now that I thought about it, I don't ever remember him saying that they were friends.

Dae-hyun choked on his coffee. He coughed and tried to calm himself but it was proving to be hard.

"Why did you tell Wilson that you and Thato are dating? Because as far as I can remember Thato likes dick." he questioned back.

"He asked you?" I ask, shocked.

"Yes." he answered, sipping on his coffee

"Who likes Dick?" Thomas asked entering the kitchen.

My heart pounds and my mind goes blank. Fuck! He can't find out that Thato is gay. He can never know that I'm pathetic like this.

"Who else if it's not my sweetheart?" Dae-Hyun asked him, putting his hand on my waist as he smirked.

I choked on my saliva as Dae-Hyun smirked at me. This freaking imbecile! Does he know how fucking weird and disgusting he sounded? I glanced at Thomas and I could see him clenching his jaw and fists. I smiled awkwardly as I left heading back to my room.

"I swear to God I am going to shoot Dae!" I exclaimed as I plopped on to the bed.

Thato groans from the sudden movements. Throwing a tantrum fit in silence as he woke up.

"Mmakwena please, let me sleep." he whined.

"It's nine am. You have slept enough." I informed him through the pillow I stuffed my face in.

"What happened?" he asked as he turned towards me.

His eyes were closed but you could see his nosiness.

"Thom…Detective Wilson caught Dae and me in a conversation and heard Dae said I liked dick." I explained as I looked at him.

Thato stayed quiet for a few seconds before he laughs at me and I groan frustrated.

"I hate you." I mumble on my pillow.

"I love you too." Thato says, kissing my cheek.

"It's way too early for PDA." let out a voice.

We turned our heads to see Dae standing at the door. He entered the room and sat on the couch in the corner and I threw him with a pillow which he caught.

"Why?" I ask, groaning.

"I panicked. " he let out very calmly before smirking.

I get up from the bed and I walk towards Dae and when I reach him I pull his ears.

"Ah! Ow! I'm sorry!" he whines as I pulled his ears.

"Don't ever pull that stunt again Dae." I warned him.

He pouts as I sigh, releasing his ears.

"Did you leave Detective Wilson alone?" I ask him as I walk back to the bed.

"No, He left, talking about a dinner he has to prepare for." Dae answered, lying on the couch.

I scoffed as I plopped down on the bed. I can't believe he is really going to go meet my mom and sisters.

"Dae, do you think you can find out what Saige is searching for with Thato?" I ask, staring at him.

"We can try." He responded.

"Thanks, I'll try to use my exterior resources." I inform him, getting up and heading to the bathroom.

I walk into the narrow human-size passage, squeezing myself through to reach the other side. The coarse walls scratching and scrapping me as I squeezed myself through. I finally reached the other side and the scent of marijuana hits my nose.

"Goddamnit! How are you breathing in this shithole?" I asked gagging.

"Mmakwena, No one called you here, you came here on YOUR OWN." She states, emphasizing on the words, your own.

"Thalia is missing." I informed her as I ignored her statement.

"And?" She asked sarcastically as though she was telling me that she did not care.

"You might know more about her life as the two of you were childhood friends." I responded scrunching my nose at the unbearable smell.

The strong scent of piss and marijuana mixed with the scent of rotten food hit me like a wave of death. There were garbage bags everywhere and the floor was covered in all types of disgusting stains.

" if she is missing should you not do your job? Because as far as I can remember, is that she and everything that happens to her is not my problem." She lets out smoking her blunt.

"You do know that I'm a Police Detective, right?" I asked her calmly yet annoyed.

"Are you threatening me, Mmakwena?" She asked scoffing.

"I don't know, does it feel like I'm threatening you, Nthabiseng?" I asked her, sitting on the plastic chair across from her.

"Mmakwena, you seem to forget that me and her ended our friendship ten years ago." She speaks out, raising her eyebrows amused.

"I didn't forget, after all, this was the result of your friendship breaking... You forgot how to be a decent human after your friendship ended and while we moved forward you remained behind, because you were prideful and naive. And I'm here as a Detective, you not answering my questions gives me various of reasons to apprehend you. So… if I were you I would cooperate with a Detective to get them out of my hair." I let out calmly as I lean forward smiling at her.

She rolls her eyes and sighs, before she puts her blunt down and fake smiles at me.

"What do you need me to do?" she asked, rolling her eyes.

"What was Thalia like as a child? Was there something that made her stand out in the orphanage? Did you know if she had a twin sister? Did She have supernatural abilities?" I asked her.

"She was a normal timid child who craved love. Nothing but her desperate behaviour for love stood out. No she doesn't have a twin. And if she did have supernatural abilities then I would crawl and bark like a dog." she answered.

I scoffed and rolling my eyes before saying,

"Well you better start crawling and barking."

"Why would I?" she asked.

I took out my phone and showed a clip of Thalia disappearing on camera. She stared at it shocked before saying it was photoshopped.

"As a Detective I would never stoop that low and for your information, this is video footage from a coffee shop. So crawl and bark." I ordered her.

She flinched slightly as she knew I was not playing. She got on all four crawling and barking. I laughed at her amused as I took a picture and also a video of her. Thalia would love to see it when she comes back. She's going to be happy when she sees it. I sat there watching her crawl and bark like a dog that wanted a treat. A dog that was trying to gain its owners attention and have the owners say 'good job!' After what felt like forever I got up and she stopped.

"Call this number if you remember anything important." I told her as I threw a card at her.

"And clean this goddamn filthy place. It makes you look worse than a hobo which honestly is worse and more pathetic than craving for love." I added as I looked around in contempt.

"Also remember this. Living in a corner back where nobody goes to because it stinks is not a happy and great life. So if I were you. I'd find a job, though your not familiar with it." I added as I squeezed myself through the narrow human-sized space.

"Bye Dog." I mocked as I left.
