Chapter 14 - Vol1.Chap14. We all knew.

"Elisa has been acting strange lately," Letizia muttered as thought a loud, her feet pacing in her room. "She have been going to the forest a lot lately, though the reason, I don't really know."

"Right," She muttered as she clapped her hands together in realization, her eyebrow furrowed, determined. "I'll just ask Auntie Nina, she should know,"

Letizia walks through the halls of the castle, walking into the room of another, their walls expanding to a cozy fire in the center, a girl who looked about the same age as me with flowing black hair and slightly tanned skin reading a book, the literature absorbed her attention hazy white eyes flicking across the page, urging Letizia to step closer, gaining her attention.

"Don't you knock?" The girl asked, her eyes lifted from her page with a slight frown on her face from being interrupted in her reading session. She turned to Letizia her eyes widening slightly when she saw. "Oh, it's you, what do you want?"

"Auntie," Letizia called out in a childish tone, sitting on the handrest of her Aunt's chair, her black dress fabric brushing against the golden handle. "you've been out and about the forest lately haven't you? Have you seen Elisa roaming about?"

Nina raised an eyebrow, her look a bit more, a bit skeptical about the question Letizia had presented to her, soon closing her eyes as she thought about it.

"Yes, yes I have," she muttered as she recalled the memory, the image of the nervous princess looking around on her way home. "She kept roaming around the forest even though she knows she shouldn't."

"I reported it to the queen of course, but now I was tasked with keeping an eye on her, confiscating her books for my own entertainment," She chuckled slightly to herself opening the book once more to enjoy it's contents flipping through the pages slowly as the silence started to set in between the conversation.

Letizia furrowed her brows, her gaze fixated on the wall as her mind worked to connect the dots. The corners of her eyes widened, a subtle flicker of realization passing through them. A faint, determined glint replaced the initial surprise, and she directed her gaze back to Aunt Nina. 'So that's why she coveted that book,' Letizia mused, her lips forming a thoughtful curve.

"Hey, in that pile did you see any bookmarked, 1000 years and 1000 more?" She inquired her lashes fluttering repeatedly trying to look as innocent as possible.

Nina thought for a while before shaking her head, her eyes catching onto a book with a crimson and bronze hue.

"No there wasn't any book by that name in the pile," She muttered, her eyes glued to the page that was in front of her. "Though I did see tons of books about the red moon, a time where all vampires get powers that are unbeatable being able to do so many other things, like shape-shifting or blood control, can you believe it?"

"Humans sure do have vivid imaginations," Letizia smiled, laughing awkwardly at the random fact.

Ragnar walked through the courtyard of the castle, his hands dug into the head of a human, the copper scent of blood filled the air as crimson oozed from its open wounds and dropped onto the cold floor, only to be crushed by his boots smearing the red paint all over the concrete with each step.

Slowly he drank from the severed head, running down his face and neck, a smile spreading across his face as he tossed the head aside once finished, its skull cracking yet bouncing on the concrete floor like a hollow coconut.

He smiled slightly his deranged pink eyes narrow from delight, looking down to his hand which slightly cleaned his face.

"Surely that would bring some attention," He muttered his smile growing wider, "Like kicking a fire ant's nest, they'll come out, and ill enjoy stomping them flat."

"Tearing their bones and popping their limbs, oh the thrill that would be to finally indulge in such activities again, my blood lust piling up over these hundreds of years." He shivers at the thought, his hand on his face, fingers tainting his cold face with a dark crimson hue, the color long since faded and dried.

"Though I should've taken two, it only takes one to deliver a message after all," he sighs the disappointment evident on his face, "Maybe next time."

"There will be no next time, Ragnar," A familiar voice shot out at him, causing him to turn around to identify his defier.

"Ah, Regulus what brings you out here on this fine night," Ragnar asked, a smile on his face, his hands spread wide in a form of welcome for his friend, white frills around his wrist his pink gaze full of nothing but happiness to see his beloved comrade.

"Don't give me that," Regulus hissed, his eyebrows furrowing in anger at his insolence. "I'm here to stop you, here and now, you went behind the backs of the council and you made a decision on your own that is punishable by death."

"If that's the case, why not report me, why did you come all the way out here to confront me? You do know I'm stronger than you, right?" Ragnar inquired, getting closer to Regulus, his footsteps echoing through the otherwise deafening silence though surprisingly Regulus stood his ground.

"Are you perhaps making this decision on your own? Did the queen ask you to confront me?" His smile gets a bit wider as he stood face to face with Regulus, inches apart from each other. "Or, maybe the queen knows about my antics and let me do what must be done?"

"Either way it may be," Regulus muttered, his gaze never leaving Ragnar's, "I will see you put down."

Ragnar laughed a twisted yet joyous laugh, that echoed through the court yard, his eyes filled to the brim with tears giving off a glint of twisted delight as he walked past him, still clutching his sides dying from laughter, clearly not taking Regulus seriously, heading for the castle doors.

"You should leave and turn a blind eye before something happens," he managed to say as he calmed down, his gaze staring straight ahead not looking behind him for a moment.

As he kept walking he heard footsteps rapidly approaching him, his pink gaze looking in his peripheral for a brief moment before the sound of tearing flesh was heard amongst them, crimson spilling to the floor as bright eyes dimmed, mouth left hanging open unable to scream but wants to so badly.
