Chapter 15 - Academy Token

After Maxim's effortless victory over Barkle, his defeated opponent lay sprawled on the ground, groaning in defeat.

Maxim stood tall, a slight smile curling upon his lips, exuding a sense of triumph.

"Phew!"

He released a sigh of relief, acting as if he had a hard time.

Meanwhile, the air around them seemed to vibrate with the remnants of the intense battle that had just taken place.

Looking at his target, Maxim began to approach the mysterious figure in the hat with a deliberate pace.

On the other hand, the man had been observing the confrontation with a mixture of fascination and trepidation.

It wasn't a romantic interest that emanated from the man in the hat, but rather a growing sense of apprehension.

He suddenly became acutely aware of Maxim's formidable presence, despite Maxim appearing physically weaker and being disadvantaged earlier.

He is now wondering, what kind of monster would he take to the academy?

"Hey, how are you, my NPC comrade?"

Maxim asked with a voice filled with curiosity and confidence.

He was eager to know the whereabouts of his dual class, as it held great significance for him.

Their exchange was a binding agreement, after all and he knew this person would not take his words back, after all, he is an NPC in a secret hidden quest.

Shaken from his stupor, the man in the hat awkwardly cleared his throat before responding, "Uh... well, yeah..."

He reached into the folds of his cloak and retrieved two crystal objects, extending them towards Maxim, their colors were transparent, looking very unnatural.

However, for Maxim, it's different.

His eyes lit up with delight as he accepted the mysterious gift, a tangible representation of his progress and potential.

At the same time, a notification from the game, Domain of Miracles, appeared in Maxim's mind.

A resounding "Ding!" echoed, indicating a crucial decision.

—-

The player Comrade Maxim has two classes to choose from…

—-

The system notification was announced.

—-

Please choose your classes…

—-

Maxim carefully considered his options and chose to keep his Support class while embracing the additional Warrior class.

He understood the significance of this decision, knowing that the enigmatic mystery gift could only be harnessed by those with a Support class, rather than a mage class.

There's no way around it, that's the rules of the game.

If he chose the mage class, the Mystery Gift won't work the way he wanted it to work.

Unbeknownst to Maxim, the scene within the inn had caught the attention of other patrons.

As he engaged in his exchange with the man in the hat, the atmosphere in the establishment subtly shifted.

Conversations dwindled to hushed whispers, and heads turned in Maxim's direction, filled with awe, curiosity, and perhaps a hint of envy.

The beautiful young girl seated at the counter watched Maxim intently, her eyes wide with wonder.

Her fingers traced the rim of a forgotten mug as her fascination grew.

One by one, the other patrons followed suit, their attention gradually drawn away from their own pursuits, captivated by the mysterious figure of Maxim before them.

Amidst this silent observation, the man in the hat finally broke the tension, his curiosity piqued.

"How did you manage to defeat Barkle so easily?"

He inquired, his voice a mix of admiration and intrigue.

He noticed that everyone was curious, and so was he, so he wanted to try if he could get it out of Maxim's mouth.

After all it was unbelievable, a hand to hand combat fighter, a normal human without a mana class, just defeated a warrior class, with a weapon the first time and magic weapon the second time, in a split second.

They didn't even notice how he did it, even the man in hat, who clearly looked like an expert, did not see how Maxim did it.

As Maxim contemplated how to convey his effortless victory over Barkle, he found himself deep in thought.

In this virtual game, there are several types of towers.

UFA - Ultimate Fighting Arena for hand to hand combat.

UFW - Ultimate Fighting Weaponry for crossing swords, guns, bow, spears, shields, etc.

UFMW - Same as UFW but infused with magic.

UFMD - Ultimate Fighting Magic Duels for using their classes like Tanks, Assassins, Warrior, Support and Marksman— with magic weapons too.

In this virtual game, for Maxim, Barkle is an NPC, that was equivalent to a legendary UFA fighter with a perfect record of 100 wins and no defeats, UFW fighter with a perfect record of 100 wins and no defeats, and UFMW fighter with a perfect record of 100 wins and no defeats.

Maxim, having been reincarnated from a distant era, of course, he would find the challenge surprisingly easy.

Back then, he was even daring to face UFMD masters with 10,000 wins and 0 Losses without weapons, relying solely on his hand-to-hand combat skills with rules of UFA towers for fun and would win occasionally.

So how could even hold a candle?

Lost in his musings, Maxim scratched his head, searching for the right words to explain his triumph.

The crowd's anticipation only intensified the pressure.

"Hmm... How should I put it?"

He pondered aloud, his voice reflecting his inner contemplation.

The crowd was surprised, they were okay if he didn't answer, after all, it was his secret, but did he really plan on revealing it?

Meanwhile, instead of revealing his true secret, Maxim opted for a playful approach.

Clearing his throat, he decided to say, "I think... it's because I was drunk," leaving his words hanging in the air.

The unexpected response elicited a collective gasp from the onlookers.

Maxim's answer left everyone stunned, struggling to comprehend how such an irrational state could lead to such a resounding victory.

Yet they understood so they never made a comment.

Deep down, Maxim knew that revealing his true secret was out of the question.

It was an advantage he wanted to keep hidden for himself, after all, in this game, NPC are real, they could interact with other players.

As the words settled, a man wearing a hat nodded knowingly, respecting Maxim's desire to preserve his secret.

Swiftly, he reached into his pocket and produced an object.

With a deft flick, he tossed it toward Maxim's face. Maxim's reflexes kicked in, and he effortlessly caught it with his left hand.

As he examined the item, a rush of recognition washed over him, but before he could fully grasp its significance, the system intervened.

Ding!

—-

The player can now enter Warrior Academy, a prestigious institution focused on developing Warrior Classes.

—-

The system declared triumphantly, its digital voice resounding in Maxim's ears.

A smile played at the corners of Maxim's mouth as the memory of the reward resurfaced.

"Ah, I forgot I would receive this," he thought to himself, his excitement bubbling beneath the surface.

In the Domain of Miracles, a realm brimming with enchantment and wonder, prestigious Academies stood as bastions of knowledge and ambition.

These revered institutions provided refuge for players seeking to delve deeper into the arcane arts.

Within their ancient walls, the secrets of potent magic attacks were passed down, sacred locations unveiled, and warriors honed their combat skills.

Adventurous missions were undertaken, all in pursuit of coveted magical treasures that remained elusive to civilian mages.

Moreover, the Academies offered instruction in mastering subclass elemental attacks, an advanced branch of magic accessible to only a select few.

Yet, in this moment, Maxim alone possessed the awareness of these hidden truths, concealed within the confines of cozy inns and bustling guilds.

With a furrowed brow and discerning gaze, he locked eyes with a mysterious figure donning a hat.

An aura of intrigue surrounded this enigmatic individual, as if he held the key to a realm of concealed knowledge.

Maxim, the sole possessor of the knowledge of the Academies' existence, now stood apart from his fellow players.

As tension hung thick in the air, the man in the hat leaned in, his voice a low rasp that carried an air of authority.

"That's a token," he said, his words filled with reverence.

"It grants you entry into the esteemed Rodarvark Academy, a place where the mysteries of magic focuses on Magic Warriors.

"Keep it close, for as long as you infuse mana within its core, you will find the doors and portals of the Academy shall forever be open to you."

With a flourish that defied natural laws, the man in the hat transformed into an inky black smoke, dissolving into the ether.

Maxim was momentarily startled, his eyes widening in awe at the spectacle before him.

Yet, a smile of determination and anticipation graced his lips.

"Alright," Maxim murmured, his voice carrying a quiet resolve.

"I shall accept your invitation and venture to the Rodarvark Academy tomorrow."

With that, he turned on his heel and strode purposefully away, deaf to the chorus of congratulations erupting around him.

"Congratulations young man!"

"Welcome!"

"Whooooo!"

it was rare to have a student accepted in the academy that easy, after all, no one can do what Maxim can do, defeating an NPC, that was equivalent to a legendary UFA fighter with a perfect record of 100 wins and no defeats, UFW fighter with a perfect record of 100 wins and no defeats, and UFMW fighter with a perfect record of 100 wins and no defeats.

He also defeated it by only using UFA rules, so it was worthy of celebration.

The first player to ever become a dual class.
