Chapter 15 - Training as a Slime (15)

"That was close... that zombie was not as intelligent," recounted Cori. "Since the system alerted that there was a survivor in there, could that person be Alice?" Cori pondered. Cori slammed the door open and shot at the undying flesh. But the mana bullets only stunned the rotting piece of meat. Cori fired shots at its head, however it did not die.

"Could it be?" Cori dashed out and tried to lure the zombie out of the room. Prying open the emergency kit, were 4 health potions. Since he was in a fantasy world, he guessed he should do the next logical thing. After removing the cap of the potion, he flung the green liquid at the target.

The rotting flesh screamed in pain as a green halo enveloped it. The figure collapsed on the floor. "I'm finally healed," cried the elf. Cori approached the elf cautiously pointing a gun at him. "How did you end up like this?" Cori asked in squeaks and wheezes. The elf sat up and hugged him. Despite struggling, he could not escape the death hug.

The Legolas look alike continued, ''This place used to be a medical research facility and I was one of the researcher participating in a top secret project. The goal was to develop a potion for eternal youth and life. The purpose was to create super soldiers that would never die. But somehow we invented an unbreakable curse instead. A curse so powerful that it would bring diseases and death to everyone else. We tried to contain her but were inflicted by the curse and changed into mindless creatures that could never be killed. I never thought I could be saved."

The elf looked at the baby slime gratefully. Cori was very uncomfortable with being so close to the elf in his natural form.

The elf released Cori, looking at him in the eyes, "If we can heal my mentor, maybe we can analyse your potion to develop a cure and save Alice."

Cori's mind begun to race and inferred from the new information, "Mentor? Alice? That Pandora's box was Alice? And the monster I sliced in half was the Mentor?" Cori reminded himself that this was just a game and he should just play along. He reached into his bag and took out his bubble tea, gulping it down to calm his nerve. Luckily, the system did not take away his refreshment.

The elf went back to the room and draped on his lab coat, " We have to save my mentor and Alice in the basement."
