Cori sucked the boba pearls anxiously along the way to the basement. It was just a game scenario but the guilt was eating him away. He knew that the elf was really eager to see his mentor and to develop a cure but he had already sliced it into half. Then Cori recalled that no one could understand his speech due to his squeak impairment and immediately felt better.
The foul stench flooded the elf's nostrils. Feeling nauseated, the elf stopped breathing for a second and took out his mask to combat the assaulting smelly beancurd like aroma. Cori seemed to have selective breathing capabilities and was unaffected, rousing the elf's amusement.
Contrary to what Cori imagined, the elf did not show any signs of sadness when he saw the dead undead. Instead, the elf was confounded and amazed, "My mentor is dead? How?" Cori tapped on the elf's ankle and showed him the dagger that did the work, "Squee!"
The elf took the blade in his hands examining the object with a furrowed brow. "Maybe the potion and this dagger is the clue," he mumbled to himself ignoring the sliced up mentor. Curiouser, he used the blade and chopped the once-mentor monster several times in front of Cori. Although the elf revered his superior, it seemed to Cori that he held a deep grudge against him too. "The absence of any parasites is quite interesting. I think your blade effectively sterilised it," the elf explained to Cori as he enthusiastically took a few more stabs.
Cori, unsure what came over him, went over to the rotting body and used (Sticky Fluid) on it, patching the body up. "!!!," he was surprised that he was not repulsed by his own actions. The elf looked in disgust as Cori's action reminded him of his dog who ate up its own vomit and shit. Cori then proceeded to pour the health potion on the undead, returning the mentor back to life. "The system must had forcibly proceeded to the next scenario," Cori thought as he got used to the treatment.
Blood drained from his face as he witnessed his mentor's resurrection. The elf felt the dream of becoming a full fledged researcher diminishing and dashed with the reappearance of his mentor. Sometimes in order to be promoted your superior would need to either vacate his position or recognise you as equal. However, his credit was stolen once too many times and his brilliance was purposefully ignored. He thought he could solve this mystery on his own and claimed the credit for once in his life. Little did he know that this was for naught and he was just an artificial intelligence for a story plot.
Cori, seemingly enjoying the realistic reaction, was amused how real everything felt, "Wow the characters were really well thought out. I can even read the subplots."
The resurrected mentor was a high elf, surprisingly the game also resurrected her lab attire. That must had been a coding error! "How cruel!" thought Cori. The elf was similarly disappointed. Cori saw how complex his emotions were and started to pity the artificial game character, he was not the least surprise that Alice became self aware given how advanced these programs were.
